What We Know About Jennette McCurdy's Love Life
With the release of her memoir, "I'm Glad My Mom Died," Jennette McCurdy has blown the lid off of childhood stardom. From disclosing her toxic relationship with her abusive late mother to disturbing Nickelodeon secrets, not a page goes by without a shocking revelation from the former child actor. McCurdy justified the book's eye-popping title on "Good Morning America," saying, "I think that anybody who has experienced parental abuse understands this title and I think anybody who has a sense of humor understands this title."
However, that wasn't the only thing she talked about in the book. McCurdy also shared her struggles with alcoholism and body image, and discussed her early romantic relationships. Besides dating basketball player Andre Drummond in 2013, she also met ex Paul Glaser on the set of "iCarly," reportedly dating him at the time of her mother's cancer diagnosis. Now after getting so much trauma off her chest, fans might be curious to know if McCurdy is currently in the dating game as she looks ahead to her next chapter.
Jennette McCurdy prefers to keep things private
While she has previously been in some high-profile relationships, according to J-14, Jennette McCurdy remains tight-lipped about her romantic life today. Her social media accounts shows no hints of a new partner, but back in August, she told The Washington Post that she has been in a "healthy, loving relationship" for six years. However, there's no additional information about this relationship, so if McCurdy has really been dating someone for that long, she's done an excellent job of keeping things private. "Healthy" and "loving" are the complete opposite of how her brother Dustin described her relationship with their mother earlier in the article, which he called, "very deliberate, very covert, clandestine."
The writer and "iCarly" actor went on to say, "There's no active form of dysfunction in my life at all ... I feel more fulfilled than I ever have, and I wish it wasn't new, but it is very new for me." While curiosity about McCurdy's mystery partner is only natural, it makes perfect sense that she would want to keep something for herself after sharing many of her innermost thoughts and struggles. After all, her previous relationships, many of which took place on the public stage, didn't end on the best of terms.
Jennette McCurdy was unlucky in love
Prior to her current partner, Jennette McCurdy's past relationships were affected by the toxic bond she had with her mother. In a "Red Table Talk" interview, McCurdy read an upsetting email from her late mother scolding her after seeing photos of her and an unnamed boyfriend on TMZ: "You used to be my perfect little angel, but now you are nothing more than a little [all caps] slut, a floozy, all used up. And to think you wasted it on that hideous ogre of a man."
Besides her mother's disapproval, McCurdy also saw intimate pictures leak online in 2014 following her split from NBA player Andre Drummond. In a now-deleted tweet following the leak, McCurdy seemingly accused Drummond of masterminding it: "To anyone disappointed: I sent those pics to 1 person. You can connect the dots. Shocked someone would stoop so low" (via HuffPost). She revealed yet another relationship turned sour in "I'm Glad My Mom Died," with a much older coworker referred to as "Joe." With so many bad experiences in the rearview mirror, we wish McCurdy nothing but the best with her current partner.
