Does Ivanka Trump Get Along With Eric's Wife Lara?

Dynamics in the Trump household are complicated. Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric Trump are from Donald Trump's marriage to his first wife, the late Ivana Trump. Next, Donald married his mistress, Marla Maples. Because there was no love lost between Maples and Ivana, things aren't necessarily hunky-dory with Maples' child, Tiffany Trump, and her elder half-siblings. Tiffany, whom the media dubbed "the forgotten Trump," has often been unfavorably compared to Ivanka, according to Mercury News. In "Disloyal: A Memoir," ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen noted that Ivanka and the others even referred to Tiffany as "the red-haired stepchild." At the very least there was tension over the family inheritance. However judging by the fact that Ivanka posted a gushing tribute to Tiffany on her wedding day in 2022, they could be on better terms as of this writing.

Then, there's the matter of the siblings and their respective significant others. Ivanka is rumored to have a frosty relationship with Don Jr.'s current fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle. "The vibe is that the family doesn't like Kim," a source dished to Page Six. "She is trying too hard to be in the family." Ivanka raised eyebrows when she cropped Guilfoyle out of Tiffany's wedding photos on Instagram. Though she later did damage control by including Guilfoyle in an Instagram Story (via the Daily Mail), it was enough to get the rumor mill churning.

We have an inkling of Ivanka's feelings toward Guilfoyle, but what does she think about Eric's wife, Lara Trump?

Lara and Ivanka Trump support each other on social media

Like Ivanka Trump, Lara Trump was heavily involved in Donald Trump's 2020 presidential campaign. According to Raleigh's The News & Observer, Lara worked "digital, fundraising, and merchandising efforts," in addition to speaking at various campaign events. Perhaps, the ladies' shared goal of putting Donald in the White House brought them closer together, because both women are often uploading supportive messages to one another on social media. "Very proud of my sister-in-law @ivankatrump and the launch of her #WomenWhoWorkBook," Lara posted to Instagram in 2017. For Lara's birthday in 2019, Ivanka shared a photo of herself posing with Lara (above), writing, "Love you!" Ivanka's nuclear family has also spent quality time with Lara's, as evidenced by a snap of them together in Aspen.

In particular, Lara has spoken publicly of her sister-in-law in glowing terms. As of 2017, she praised Ivanka's "impeccable style," according to Hello! The former Fox contributor takes her jewelry cues from Ivanka too, if her diamond ring — which is from Ivanka's now-defunct jewelry line — is any indication. Furthermore, Lara has defended Ivanka in the wake of various controversies. When many retailers dropped Ivanka's clothing line during her father's 2016 presidential run, per Yahoo!, Lara took to Instagram with a supportive message. She also stood up for Ivanka by condemning NBC for asking her sister-in-law about the sexual misconduct claims against Donald, telling Fox Business, "I think this was incredibly inappropriate to ask Ivanka ... she handled it with such class."

Do Lara and Ivanka Trump have political ambitions?

It could be that Lara and Ivanka Trump click on the basis of their mutual ambition. Early on in her career, Ivanka made a name for herself in the modeling world. According to Refinery29, she served as an executive vice president within the Trump Organization, in addition to writing several books and launching an eponymous clothing line. During her time in the White House, she was senior advisor to the president, focusing on "the education and economic empowerment of women and their families" (via The Guardian). Lara sets a similarly high bar for herself, career-wise. According to The Guardian, she parlayed her journalism experience into a gig with Fox News as a paid contributor.

Pundits have speculated that both Lara and Ivanka have political dreams. "Ivanka definitely has political ambitions, no question about it," a source told CNN in 2020. "She wants to run for something, but that still needs to be figured out." Likewise, Lara was said to be angling for a political run of her own, per The New York Times. In the end though, both women opted to prioritize their families. As of 2021, Lara said no to a potential Senate run, given she has two small children at home. In November 2022, Ivanka said that she would not be involved in her father's 2024 campaign, telling the media that she's "choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family."
