Gisele Bündchen Still Has A Close Bond With Tom Brady's Oldest Son Jack
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen made waves in 2022, and not for her modeling or his football career. Brady's U-turn on his retirement from the NFL caused strain in their marriage, and the former couple announced their divorce in October, per NPR. That said, it's all love between Bündchen and her ex-hubby. When Brady announced his retirement (this time for good) on Instagram on February 1, Bündchen showed her support by commenting, "Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life."
Maybe the secret to an amicable divorce is good co-parenting. Bündchen and Brady have made it clear they're focused on the kiddos, which Brady underscored during an October appearance on his "Let's Go!" podcast. When sharing news of the divorce, Bündchen noted, "My priority has always been and will continue to be our children, whom I love with all my heart." According to People, the pair's children spend equal time with both of them; since the divorce, the ex-quarterback has been spotted at his daughter Vivian's horseback-riding lessons, while Bündchen took Vivian and her son Benjamin shopping in Miami.
But what about Brady's oldest son, John "Jack" Moynahan? Jack isn't Bündchen's biological son. He's the product of a relationship Brady had with actor Bridget Moynahan, so does that mean Bündchen has cut him out of her life now that she's no longer with Brady? Quite the opposite.
Gisele Bündchen loves Jack Moynahan like he's her own son
Learning that your new partner's ex-girlfriend is pregnant isn't the best way to start a relationship, but that's what happened for Gisele Bündchen. "It was a challenging thing because here I am ... dating [Tom Brady] ... everything is great and then this happens," the model said in an interview with "CBS This Morning" (via People), explaining her initial reaction to Bridget Moynahan's pregnancy. "It was kind of one of those moments of like, 'Do I just run away?'" But staying with Brady was the right choice for Bündchen at the time, who later came to think of John "Jack" Moynahan as her "bonus child."
In her memoir, "Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life" (via Us Weekly), the Brazilian wrote that Jack made her "heart expand in ways [she] didn't know were possible." And, despite the fact she and Brady are no longer together, don't expect her love for Jack to evaporate. In November 2022, Brady posted a pic to Instagram that showed Jack tossing the pigskin, and Bündchen supported them both by commenting with a red heart emoji (via Page Six). As for Moynahan, she's grateful for the love Jack's stepmom has shown him, telling "Good Morning America" in 2019, "Tom and I made a decision to raise a child together and we both found partners that not only supported us in raising that child, but also loved our child as if he was their own."
Gisele Bündchen has Jack Moynahan's best interests at heart
Gisele Bündchen's heart emoji is far from the first time she's supported Jack Moynahan on social media. In 2020, she celebrated her stepson's birthday with a sweet Instagram photo of the whole family, writing, "Happy birthday Jack! We are all so lucky to have you in our lives. Thank you for being the best big brother in the world. We love you soooo much!" Moynahan also regularly crops up in Bündchen's Father's Day posts and family shots.
Like any mom or stepmom, Bündchen has Moynahan's best interests at heart. In 2021, Tom Brady expressed his hope that Moynahan might grow up to be the starting quarterback at his alma mater, University of Michigan. "I had a little future Wolverine, my son Jack, sitting on the bed with me ... and I said, 'That's where you're gonna be! You're gonna be in the 'Big House' someday,'" Brady said on his "Let's Go!" podcast. However, his Brazilian better half was less enthused. "And my wife [Gisele] was like, 'Just let him be what he wants to be for God's sakes,'" Brady added. Seems like Moynahan's stepmom supports his career interests outside of football.
That tracks with Bündchen's worries about the sport, which she expressed in a 2022 interview with Elle. "Obviously, I have my concerns — this is a very violent sport," she said. Whatever Moynahan's passions, his stepmom just wants him to follow his heart.
