John Legend Reveals Meaning Behind Newborn Son Miles' Name

John Legend is sharing new details about his second child.

On Sunday, May 20, 2018, the "All of Me" singer caught up with E! News at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, where he shared the musical meaning behind the name he and wife Chrissy Teigen chose for their newborn son, Miles.

"We named our first daughter Luna Simon Stephens and every name we give to our kids I think will have a little bit of musical history to it," he began, in reference to Nina Simone.

Legend continued, "Miles of course is the same name as the great Miles Davis and Chrissy really liked the name Theodore, so we put it all together and had Miles Theodore Stephens. When he came out and we hung out with him for a little while, we were like, 'He looks like a Miles.'"

"We're so excited to have him in the family now," the "A Good Night" singer added. "It's nice to have our little family of four now."

Earlier in the day, Teigen had revealed their little boy's name while introducing him to the world on Instagram. "Hello, world! This is Miles Theodore Stephens — We are drowning in his little peeps and nuzzles," she wrote, captioning a sweet snapshot of her baby boy. "Our household feels overwhelmed with love. Thank you for all your well wishes!"

The Lip Sync Battle co-host also took to Twitter before the awards show's broadcast to hilariously roast her husband for attending a red carpet event soon after their son's birth. "Wow didn't u just have a baby John," she captioned a photo from his televised E! News interview, adding, "Smh go take care of it !!!!!! disgusting."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Teigen, 32, and Legend, 39, welcomed baby no. 2 on Wednesday, May 16. "Somebody's herrrrrrre!" the supermodel tweeted at the time, alongside baby bottle and hugging face emojis. She later revealed that little Miles shares the same nose as his older sister, 2-year-old Luna, adding on Twitter, "He is a few weeks early so he's litttttttle and makes the teeniest noises. We are in love."

The proud parents first announced that they were expecting their second child together in November 2017. They had undergone in vitro fertilization treatments, which they'd done in the past.
