Who Is Becky G's Fiance, Sebastián Lletget?
Becky G — whose real name is Rebbeca Marie Gomez — and Sebastián Lletget got engaged in December 2022. The couple announced the news via Instagram with a snapshot of Lletget proposing to Gomez in front of a scenic background. Gomez and Lletget's engagement came three years after the "Mayores" singer claimed that she and Lleget weren't quite ready to wed. "Everybody has their own timing," Becky shared with Entertainment Tonight about a possible future wedding. She continued, "As far as pressure, we do really well [with it]. We laugh about it, and obviously we're not wasting our time here. We know we want to be together. But, you know, I feel like you have to enjoy every step, every process of it all."
Unfortunately, Lletget recently brought shame to Gomez and their relationship after admitting to cheating on the singer. "Over the last few weeks, during a moment I regret deeply, a 10 minute lapse in judgment resulted in an extortion plot," wrote Lletget via Instagram. "Since this person did not get what they wanted it has now become a public social media spectacle filled with more lies than any truth and false posts aimed at the love of my life, the one person who I should never take for granted or put at risk." He also apologized to Gomez and vowed to "earn back the trust and love you deserve." Now that we know Lletget isn't adept at giving apologies, let's dig deeper into who he is.
Sebastián Lletget is a professional soccer player
Aside from forever being known as the guy who cheated on Becky G, Sebastián Lletget actually has a lot going for himself. Specifically, Lletget is a professional soccer player, who currently plays for FC Dallas. Lletget, who joined the team in 2022, is a Senior midfielder who played more than 2,600 minutes during the 2023 season. With that said, this isn't Lletget's first rodeo. Lletget has been playing professionally since 2018 and has played on four other teams over the years. Reportedly, Lletget is worth $1 million.
In November 2022, just one month prior to proposing to Gomez, Lletget, who is Argentinean, shared why soccer was so beloved by the Hispanic community. "Oh, my God. It just runs in the blood," said Lletget to People Chica. "It's just me growing up, my personal experience [with] my dad being ... born and raised in Argentina. He lives this game differently, and I think it's become part of our identity as Latinos. It creates a space [where] either you're playing and you're enjoying or you're at home with your family and now you're rooting for the team." According to his LinkedIn biography, Lletget is also an investor, who "co-founded a venture fund in partnership with his manager and has already made a few notable investments."
Sebastián Lletget and Becky G have been together for years
Becky G and Sebastián Lletget have been dating since 2016. According to an interview Gomez did with Mega 93.6, her friend Naomi Scott is the person she has to thank for bringing Lletget into her life. "[Our introduction] kind of came about while we were filming the movie," shared Gomez (via J-14). "The way we got introduced, me and Sebastian, was through my co-star Naomi. Her husband — she's 23, they've been married for a couple years now — and [him] played soccer together, him and Sebastian. So Nae met me and was like, 'Girl, you're awesome! You deserve to be with a man!'"
Since then, Gomez and Lletget went full steam ahead with their relationship and filled their social media profiles with plenty of PDA-filled snapshots and saccharine devotions. For instance, Gomez celebrated Valentine's Day by posting a sultry snapshot of her and Lletget posed in formal wear. "My forever Valentine (My future husband is fine as hell, I know)," she captioned the Instagram photo. Two weeks before Lletget's cheating scandal, they walked Oscar's red carpet together, looking quite the happy pair. Unfortunately, it appears that they may be walking on shaky ground now. While Gomez has yet to respond to Lletget's public apology, she was recently photographed at the iHeartRadio Awards without her engagement ring. Never a good sign!
