Todd Chrisley's Job In Prison Is Very Fitting With His Past

Thinking about how audiences first met the Chrisley family on their reality television show, "Chrisley Knows Best," starkly contrasts with the harsh realities of their situation today. But through the trials and tribulations of their court troubles and prison sentence, it looks like Julie Chrisley and especially Todd Chrisley are holding onto one of the things they have always held near and dear to their hearts.

To recap, Julie and Todd were both found guilty of tax evasion, wire fraud, and bank fraud, among other federal charges, back in November 2022. Julie received seven years in federal prison, while Todd received a more severe 12-year sentence. In January 2023, the Chrisleys were separated and transported to their respective prison facilities. The matriarch was placed at the Federal Medical Center in Kentucky, while the patriarch will serve the rest of his sentence at Florida's minimum-security Federal Prison Camp Pensacola.

As the Chrisleys await the end of their incarceration, the couple's eldest daughter, Savannah Chrisley, gave fans an update on how her parents are faring and the fitting jobs they've taken on at their respective facilities.

Behind bars, Todd Chrisley is 'encouraging change' using his faith

Even behind bars, Todd Chrisley continues to spread the word of God. The one source for updates on Todd and Julie Chrisley is their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, who has been visiting and chatting with her parents while they serve out their sentences. On a February episode of her podcast, "Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley," the reality star revealed that Todd took a job within his facility's church, religiously mentoring other inmates.

"I could never be more proud of my dad and the man that he is," Savannah gushed on her podcast. "I get to hear all these people's stories and how he's affecting their lives and encouraging change. Just all the people who are coming to know Jesus in that place is absolutely amazing."

Their daughter also shared that Julie has been attending church and playing card games like Spades during her leisure time. In an earlier podcast episode, Savannah added that her father's hair has gone gray since he went away because he doesn't have access to hair dye. "He's definitely used some color over the years, and now seeing him with gray hair, I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, this is really weird,'" she explained. "Even visiting my dad, I know I have so much hope and so much restored strength that I'm like, 'This isn't the end.'" Todd's faith seems to be the number one thing keeping him going while he's in prison, but this has been the case since the beginning for the Chrisleys.

The Chrisleys have always been passionate about their faith

You can't spell "Chrisley" or "Christian" without the "Ch-." One of the first things audiences learned about the family when "Chrisley Knows Best" premiered in 2014 was their lifelong devotion to Christianity. Matriarch Julie Chrisley's father was a Baptist pastor, and religion has ruled her life ever since. Back in a 2016 interview with Fox, patriarch Todd Chrisley called their television show a gift from God, "[giving them] a voice" and "[providing them] a platform" to better the world.

Before they were sentenced to prison, the couple opened up on their podcast, "Chrisley Confessions," about how their faith was helping them as they struggled through their legal troubles. "Now, in this storm that we're in, I feel like I'm closer to God than I've ever been," Todd reflected in the December 2022 episode. "But I find myself screaming out because in the Bible says to scream out to God, to cry out to God. With what we're going through right now, you've heard me do that." Thus, it makes sense that the Chrisleys continue to rely on their faith while they count down to their day of freedom.
