Mindy Kaling Posts First Photo Of Daughter Katherine
Champions creator Mindy Kaling is introducing her daughter to the world!
On Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, the Mindy Project alum got into the Halloween spirit and took to Instagram to share the first photo of her 10-month-old daughter, Katherine Swati.
"Happy Halloween from this bottle of mustard and her little lion," Kaling wrote to her 3.5 million followers, captioning an adorable snapshot of the mother-daughter duo holding hands while in costume. The proud mom completed the caption with heart, lion, and pumpkin emojis.
The sweet pic understandably doesn't show little Katherine's face. However, the TV star's fans were quick to gush over this first glimpse of Kaling's baby girl. "THE FIRST PICTURE," one fan excitedly wrote in the comments section, while another commented, "You're having so much fun with your munchkin! So warming to see this!" Meanwhile, another person wrote, "So close to seeing her it hurts."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Kaling, 39, welcomed her first child on Dec. 15, 2017. While the former star of The Office has remained mum on the identity of her daughter's father, she later revealed that she'd named her child in honor of her late mother, whose first name was Swati.
The A Wrinkle in Time star opened up about single motherhood while delivering a powerful commencement speech at Dartmouth College in June 2018. "After my daughter was born in December, I remember bringing her home and being in my house with her for the first time and thinking, 'Huh. According to movies and TV, this is traditionally the time when my mother and spouse are supposed to be here, sharing this experience with me,'" she told the graduating class (via Entertainment Tonight). "And I looked around, and I had neither. And for a moment, it was kind of scary. Like, 'Can I do this by myself?'"
Kaling continued, "But then that feeling went away, because the reality is, I'm not doing it by myself. I'm surrounded by family and friends who love and support me. And the joy I feel from being with my daughter Katherine eclipses anything from any crazy checklist."
In other baby news this week, actress-singer Hilary Duff revealed on Monday, Oct. 29 that she and longtime boyfriend Matthew Koma had welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Banks Violet Bair, the previous week. "This little bit has fully stolen our hearts!" the Younger star, who also shares 6-year-old son Luca with ex-husband Mike Comrie, wrote alongside a precious snapshot of the proud parents holding their newborn daughter. "She joined our world at home on Thursday afternoon and is absolute magic."
