What You Need To Know About Keanu Reeves And Alexandra Grant

Who isn't rooting for Keanu Reeves? It's rare when an actor goes viral for being such a good guy. First there was the video of him giving his seat up to a woman on the subway. Then, he was dubbed a "respectful king" for the way he takes photos with female fans. According to TIME, he even coordinated a road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles for airline passengers who were stranded alongside him in Bakersfield, Calif. after an unexpected landing. On this trip, he narrated with fun facts about Bakersfield and DJed with his phone. Could we love Keanu any more than we already do?

Indeed, Reeves is the internet's boyfriend, but the internet's boyfriend might just have a brand new girlfriend. It looks like the notoriously private star has Naruto run towards love. In November 2019, the John Wick actor sent fans into a frenzy after he was spotted holding hands with artist and philanthropist Alexandra Grant at the LACMA Art + Film Gala. So, who is Grant, and how does she fit with Reeves? The pair seem like an amazing match that was hiding right under our noses.

Alexandra Grant has been an artist since she was a child

Most fans had two questions after seeing Keanu Reeves grace the LACMA Art + Film Gala red carpet with a silver-haired mystery woman. Who is she? And, is that Helen Mirren? According to Page Six, an inordinate number of Twitter users mistook Grant for the 70-something actress, but it should be noted that Grant is in her 40s. How is that mistake even possible?

Reeves' rumored lady love isn't the Caligula actress. She actually isn't even an actress at all. Grant is an artist whose work has been displayed in galleries and museums across Los Angeles, New York City and Paris. Her website states that her art "probes ideas of translation, identity, dis/location, and social responsibility" through "the use of text and language in various media — painting, drawing, sculpture, film, and photography," and she's been doing it for a long time.

In an interview with LA Weekly, Grant admitted she's been an artist since she was a child, and her art includes "reading, staring into space, daydreaming, inventing symphonic-scale projects whether a chemistry experiment or growing seeds into plants, finding meaning in the patterns of bathroom tiles and cracks in the ceiling, believing in the goodness of people and love, drawing while listening to music, experiencing language as images and colors, and desiring to be solitary while doing most of the above." She's also a philanthropist who founded the grantLOVE project, which raises cash for "arts-based non-profits."

Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant have been romantically linked for months

Keanu Reeves hasn't been romantically linked to anyone in more than a decade, but he might not live a lonely life like the internet rumors that graced headlines earlier in 2019 suggested. As it turns out, the actor might just have Neo-level skills at hiding his relationships. Are you ready to take the red pill?

Some sneaky tabloid evidence shows that the John Wick actor has probably been seeing Grant for months (though, they are business partners, and we all hold hands with our business partners, right?). The Cut reported that Grant and Reeves attended the MOCA Benefit together in Los Angeles in May 2019 and were holding hands yet again at the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2019 menswear show in New York City.

According to People, the pair were also photographed on what appeared to be a dinner date in Santa Monica, California in October 2019. Reeves reportedly drove them to the fancy, Italian eatery in his Porsche. Jury's still out on whether or not they had to listen to the noises of the animals they were eating as they chowed down on their meatballs. (Seriously, if you haven't seen Neflix's hit rom-com Always Be My Maybe, get on that.)

Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant are longtime collaborators

The couple that tries new things together, stays together, and that seems to be exactly how Alexandra Grant and Keanu Reeves first fostered a connection. Almost a decade before they became rumored lovers, the artist and actor worked on a book together. Ode to Happiness, which is billed by Amazon as a "grown-up's picture book," was the first book Reeves had ever written. It was also Grant's first gig as a book illustrator.

The project went swimmingly enough that they collaborated again in 2016 on the book Shadows, which "explores the real and symbolic nature of the shadow as image and figure of speech," according to Amazon. Grant contributed photographs, while Reeves played both model and writer (so, yes, in case you were wondering, you can buy a book filled with photos Reeves' body parts).

It became clear that art books were a passion for the pair, and in 2017, they co-founded the publishing house X Artists' Books, according to People. The website describes their focus as "thoughtful, high-quality, artist-centered books that fit within and between genres."

The childhoods of Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant sound very similar

Alexandra Grant and Keanu Reeves connect on more than just their passion for art. It seems like the pair had similar childhoods. They both lived in numerous countries and experienced a multitude of different cultures, with Reeves having Hawaiian, Chinese, and British heritage.

According to an Esquire profile, the John Wick actor spent the earliest years of his life in Beirut before his family moved around to America, Australia, and Canada. In a 2006 interview with Parade (via People), he claimed to have had a "vagabond life" which made it hard for him to settle down in one place. "There is a bit of the gypsy in me, and living that way seemed to make sense," he admitted. "I couldn't settle down. I liked going to new places – renting apartments, staying in hotels. Then I turned 40."

According to Grant's website, the artist spent "significant portions of her adolescence living in Mexico, France, and Spain," but eventually settled down in Los Angeles. "I grew up in part in Mexico City, Washington, DC, and Paris, moving between languages and cultures. Los Angeles felt like home from the moment I first arrived in 1995, especially the diversity of people, idioms, foods, and plants," she told LA Weekly in 2019.

Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant took the opposite approach to education

Schooling is where Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant seem to differ. The actor was expelled from his performing arts high school, whereas the artist studied mathematics at a small liberal arts college, then went to California College of the Arts to get her master's degree.

In a 2019 LA Weekly interview, Grant pretty much admitted she was an overachiever while pursuing her education — and here's the proof. When she was seven or eight years old, one of her homework assignments was writing "a newspaper article." She ended up creating "a whole newspaper, designing the masthead and even assigning [her] best friend to write some of the articles." The rest of her class turned in "a piece of lined paper."

Reeves was the opposite. In a 1988 interview with US (via Whoa Is Not Me), he admitted he "wasn't a very good student." He eventually got into a performing arts high school, but got kicked out. "I was just a little too rambunctious and shot my mouth off once too often," he said. "I was not generally the most well-oiled machine in the school. I was just getting in their way, I guess." Regardless of their respective levels of education, both Reeves and Grant clearly managed to pave their own way to success.

Has Keanu Reeves finally reached 'the top of the mountain?'

Keanu Reeves might be the internet's boyfriend — and very well could be Alexandra Grant's real-life boyfriend, although the pair have yet to confirm it, as of this writing. But just how serious will things get? In 2017, the John Wick actor revealed that he felt like he had missed his chance to have a family. In the revealing Esquire profile, Reeves frankly admitted, "I'm too... it's too late. It's over ... I'm 52. I'm not going to have any kids." The star previously had a child, who was stillborn at eight months in 1999, according to Mirror

Reeves' Esquire remarks were a stark contrast to the actor's previous statements on the subject. His 2006 Parade interview (via People) is tragic enough to make us want to take the blue pill (or at least grab some Kleenex). "I'm trying not to be alone so much," he admitted. "And man, it's a struggle. I want to get married. I want to have kids. That's at the top of the mountain. I've got to climb the mountain first. I'll do it. Just give me some time."

It's unclear if Grant has children, and it's obviously far too premature to speculate whether they'll have kids together, but one thing is for sure: Reeves certainly isn't alone so much these days.

Keanu Reeves' last great love ended in tragedy

From what it looks like in the tabloids, Keanu Reeves' rumored relationship with Alexandra Grant might just be the most significant romance he's had since falling head over heels for Jennifer Syme in 1998. According to Mirror, Reeves and Syme "fell in love instantly," and the production assistant fell pregnant shortly after. Their daughter Ava was tragically stillborn a year later, and though the grief split them apart, People reports that they "remained best friends" until Syme's fatal 2001 car crash.

"D— it! It's not fair! It's absurd," Reeves told Parade (via People). "Grief changes shape, but it never ends. People have a misconception that you can deal with it and say, 'It's gone, and I'm better.' They're wrong. When the people you love are gone, you're alone."

Thankfully for Reeves, it looks like he isn't alone anymore. According to The Guardian, the star has never posed with a girlfriend on the red carpet in all 30-something years of his career. He broke the cardinal rule for Grant, so maybe he's finally found real love again.

Alexandra Grant is an ordained minister

Now, no one's suggesting that Alexandra Grant and Keanu Reeves are going to tie the knot (yet), but if they somehow managed to jump into one of Reeves' sci-fi films and clone Grant, she could legally officiate the nuptials. The artist's Instagram account reveals that — among being a philanthropist, esteemed artist, and all around cool girl — she's also an ordained minister. This puts her among the ranks of celebs like Conan O'Brien, Rob Dyrdek, Fran Dresher, and Wendy Williams, who all apparently became ministers, too.

In June 2019, the artist posted an image of her ordained minister license on Instagram and wrote, "It's official ... I'm the marrying type." Her pals Ginna and Edwin asked her to officiate their wedding, and Grant ultimately opted to become a Universal Life Minister. For reference, this is the famed church that lets you get ordained online for around $10. It's not a bad gig, especially because the certification lasts for life.

Wait, isn't Keanu Reeves already technically married?

Fans are clearly loving Keanu Reeves' apparent romance with Alexandra Grant, but we haven't heard if his alleged wife, Winona Ryder, has given the couple her blessing. You heard it night. In this weird corner of pop culture, Reeves might actually already be married to the Stranger Things star even though they've never actually dated. Man, at least buy her dinner first.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ryder admitted she might have accidentally married her Dracula co-star some 25 years ago while filming a wedding scene for the 1992 flick. "In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest," she said. "We shot the master, and he did the whole thing. So I think we're married."

Reeves seemed seemed a bit mystified by the specifics of the event, but eventually concluded, "Oh my gosh, we're married." He should really consult Grant, who probably knows all about the legalities of wedding ceremonies being an ordained minister and all.

No, Mr. Internet Boyfriend isn't lonely

As of this writing, Keanu Reeves is clearly having a moment. He's reprising his most revered roles for The Matrix 4, Bill & Ted Face the Music, and John Wick: Chapter 4. He even managed to sneak in a voice acting role in Toy Story 4 and a cameo in the Netflix hit Always Be My Maybe (which might just be the most epic cameo besides Neil Patrick Harris playing himself in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle). CNN officially declared that we're in a "Keanuaissance," but if a viral, albeit dubious internet claim is concerned, maybe Keanu isn't having as much of a Keanuaissance as the rest of us.

According to HuffPost, an author for two different Malaysian publications, using selected quotes from what he claimed were two separate interviews with Reeves (one from 2019 and one from 2003), quoted the actor as saying, "You know, I'm the lonely guy. I don't have anyone in my life, but if it does occur, I would respect and love the other person; hopefully it'll happen for me." Poor Keanu, right? Well, a rep for the actor told HuffPost that both interviews were fabricated. In actuality, Keanu is apparently really happy.

According to a source who spoke to PeopleReeves "wants to openly share his life" with Grant, and he's "extremely happy and grateful to have Alex in his life." It looks like the internet's boyfriend really is off the market.
