Chris Cuomo Rethinks CNN Gig In Light Of His Coronavirus Diagnosis

Is Chris Cuomo quitting CNN? On April 13, 2020, the famous host spoke up on his SiriusXM show and blasted his own CNN gig, Cuomo Prime Time, per the New York Post. In a blunt statement, Cuomo said: "I don't like what I do professionally. I don't think it's worth my time."

Part of Cuomo's anger was sparked by his feelings about President Donald Trump, whom he said was "full of s**t." Cuomo added: "I don't want to spend my time doing things that I don't think are valuable enough to me personally. I don't value indulging irrationality, hyper-partisanship," (via the New York Post.)

But it wasn't just disagreements with Trump that sparked Cuomo's rage. The CNN host is also battling the coronavirus, which he tested positive for on March 31, 2020, according to the Daily Beast. His illness has reportedly prompted him to rethink how he lives his life and if his job is really worth pursuing.

Chris Cuomo wants the freedom to let it rip

CNN host Chris Cuomo unleashed a fury of negativity on his SiriusXM radio show on April 13, 2020. After saying that he doesn't like what he does, Cuomo told a story about a "loser biker" who yelled at him on Easter Sunday when he was seen in front of his home with family members, according to the New York Post.

"I don't want some jacka**, loser, fat tire biker being able to pull over and get in my space and talk bulls**t to me, I don't want to hear it," Cuomo said, adding that he wished he could have told the biker to "go to hell" but can't because of his high-profile job. "That matters to me more than making millions of dollars a year ... because I've saved my money and I don't need it anymore," he said (via the New York Post).

But Cuomo dug even deeper into his despair over his career: "I'm basically being perceived as successful in a system that I don't value. I'm seen as being good at being on TV and advocating for different positions ... but I don't know if I value those things, certainly not as much as I value being able to live my life on my own terms."

Chris Cuomo backpedals on his statements about CNN

The day after Chris Cuomo launched into a diatribe about his job with CNN, he was back on his SiriusXM radio show, saying he never meant to say he didn't like his job with CNN, according to the Daily Beast. "It's not true," he said.

In a statement, Cuomo reiterated that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and said CNN has been supportive of his recovery. The host said he's "never been in a better position, professionally, than I am in right now," and added that he'll "never be able to repay [CNN], but I'll try hard to do so. I've never been more grateful. I've never been on a better team." (via the Daily Beast)

Meanwhile, in the very vocal world of Twitter, people are divided about Cuomo's erratic statements. Many are cutting him some slack, like the follower who wrote: "It is very obvious that @ChrisCuomo is still suffering from the Coronavirus. He's been through a lot and deserves the benefit of the doubt. Get well soon, @ChrisCuomo."

Others were less forgiving. One person quipped: "High fever and arrogant combination. Quit your $$$$$$$ job before trashing it and confirming that we shouldn't listen to your rants everyday."

While Cuomo has legitimately been suffering from the horrible virus, it seems a little risky to go off on a rant about his job! Hopefully, CNN lets him off the hook!
