The Truth About Lori Loughlin And Bob Saget's Relationship

For decades, the world knew Lori Loughlin as Aunt Becky from Full House. Now, Loughlin's name is synonymous with the college admissions scandal and the choices she (allegedly) made to make sure that her two daughters got into USC. She and her husband Mossimo Giannulli agreed to plead guilty, which likely means some time in jail for both of them. However, there have been additional consequences.

Loughlin's working relationship with the Hallmark Channel has come to a halt. She's gone from Fuller House, with Entertainment Tonight reporting in June 2020 that her character has been in Nebraska helping her mother. Although she's no longer a part of Fuller House, she is still seemingly on great terms with most of the cast despite the scandal, which they've been asked about in many interviews.

In March 2019, a TMZ camera crew asked Bob Saget about the situation and he delivered a pretty vague response. He told the outlet, "I just love who I love." He also remarked, "Life's complicated. I don't like talking about it." He was asked about it again during an April 2019 Today appearance and said he was "under-qualified" to speak on the topic. When he was asked if he was still in touch with his longtime co-star, he joked that they talk via "carrier pigeon." Saget added, "I love her and I will say no comment." He summed up the situation as "a personal thing" and he rhetorically asked, "It's a strange time and what do you say?"

Bob Saget refuses to cut out Lori Loughlin because of the admissions scandal

In March 2019, the college admissions scandal first made headlines. It was all anyone wanted to talk about on every single talk show for months. Well, it was a topic that talk show hosts loved to talk about, but the same can't be said for all of their talk show guests, particularly Bob Saget.

Since he and Lori Loughlin were co-stars on Full House, and eventually Netflix's reboot Fuller House, many people continue to associate the two of them together. This means that Saget has been questioned about the scandal and his relationship with Loughlin a few times over. Initially, he chose the "no comment" stance, electing not to share his opinion on any of the particulars, just emphasizing how much he loves her. That changed during an October 2019 interview with Fox News

The comedian declared, "I love the people I love, and people go through life, and stuff happens." Then, he expanded on that thought even further: "For a while, I was saying, 'No comment,' and now there's just no point in talking about it because I've answered it. What I would say is, I love the people I love, and I have empathy for people that are in my life for 35 years. I don't cut people out." He seemingly joked, "I've never had any friends growing up. So, I'm lucky to have any in the first place." In other words, he has Loughlin's back.

Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin have been close for decades

These days, there are many people who are curious to hear Bob Saget's take on Lori Loughlin's legal troubles. It's not just because they've worked together for years. The two of them are close friends in real life.

In October 2018, Loughlin attended Saget's wedding, with the actor referring to her and their Full House co-stars as "family for life" in an Instagram. In July 2017, Saget tweeted, "Happy Birthday my dear sweet friend @LoriLoughlin. We've never not had fun together. And I never stopped talking. You're the sweetest!!" While Loughlin has given Saget social media shoutouts throughout the years, her accounts no longer exist. In March 2019, The Blast reported she deleted her Twitter and Instagram.

While the posts are gone, she's teased Saget in some interviews. During a 2017 Good Housekeeping video, she was asked to name the Full House co-star who is most like their on-screen counterpart. She began, "He's going to kill me for saying this." She continued, "It's not because he's a clean freak like Danny Tanner. I love Bob, but he's a little neurotic in a sense, he's got that little bit of neuroses happening."

Although Saget hasn't condoned Loughlin's alleged actions, he's made it clear that any legal issues have no impact on the love he has for her. While Loughlin has not spoken to the press since the scandal broke, it's fair to assume that she still has love for him too.
