Howie Mandel's Son Alex Is All Grown Up And Close With His Dad

Howie Mandel and his wife are super close with each of their three kids, and their only son, YouTuber Alex Mandel, is no exception. From teaming up for prank calls to sharing sweet memories on social media, it's no secret the father and son have a tight bond (and it certainly doesn't hurt that Alex is just as funny as his dad).

Howie celebrated his 70th birthday in late 2025, and in celebration of that, Alex shared a funny memory on Instagram of the time he bought his first motorcycle. "His 'punishment' was, 'Ok fine, then you have to teach me to ride and I'll get one too,'" Alex recounted, adding that the idea had horrified him. "This man is too wild and I'd never stop worrying. He doesn't know what 'Taking it easy' means. If he goes for a run, it's 10 miles. He swims every day for over an hour with zero breaks. Can someone remind him he's 70 now? I'm always trying to keep up and I still don't know how he does it," Alex wrote. He went on to say he still wasn't planning to make good on his dad's instruction to get him a motorcycle, ending his tribute with, "Maybe I'll buy you a bike for your 80th."

Until then, they have the pic of Howie posing behind him on the bike ("It sums up everything about my relationship with my dad," Alex had written in the caption) — but that's just one of many posts of the twosome enjoying one another's company. The father and son also recorded a TikTok video of them dolled up in clown makeup back in 2019, and featured together on "Howie Mandel's Animals Doing Things" and "Celebrity Family Food Battle" in 2024. Like we said, these two are close.

Howie and Alex have shared more serious bonding moments, too

Of course, no one's life is all laughs, and despite becoming a household name thanks to his comedy skills, Howie Mandel has also been very open about some of the tragic details of his life. Sadly, Alex Mandel has revealed that some of the mental health struggles his dad has gone through have affected him as well.

During a joint appearance on CTV's "Your Morning", the Mandels opened up about their experiences with mental health conditions like anxiety. Alex revealed that he had anxiety and ADD, and that there was a good chance he'd inherited it from his famous father. Serious as the conversation was, Howie couldn't pass up a good joke, and he interjected with, "Now he's blaming me." Alex quipped that it was definitely his dad's fault, but turned back to the seriousness of it all by noting, "One thing that people don't talk about is it affects the family as a whole, even if only one member has that, so I think it's good that we are doing this together because we've had to deal with it together as a family." Of what exactly they were dealing with, Alex shared that for one, when he or his siblings got sick, his dad — who has been very open about his OCD — would move into a separate building on the family's property. It was only once he got to school and other kids shared that their own parents didn't do that that he realized there was something different about Howie.

All that said, it's clear Howie and his son have a super open relationship, and we couldn't be happier for them. The fact that we get to laugh along with them every once in a while is just the cherry on top.
