What '90s Icon Yasmeen Ghauri Looks Like Now After Ditching The Spotlight
Many of the OG '90s supermodels have remained in the public eye over the years, but Yasmeen Ghauri isn't one of them. Despite a very illustrious career, she officially retired in 1997. But even if she does enjoy a more low-key life today, she's still just as gorgeous.
Ghauri shared in a 1991 interview that she planned to continue modeling for the foreseeable future, telling one outlet, "I'm not always thrilled about the work that I have to go through, but in the end, I would not give it up. If I stopped, I would regret it right away" (via YouTube). However, by 1997 she felt differently, and strutted away from the catwalk to become a mother and wife. Even without the professional glam (and let's face it, '90s supermodel glam was something special), there's no mistaking she's still got it.
While Ghauri has Instagram, she doesn't share many current photos of herself. In fact, at least at the time of this writing, the only one we could find was a 2022 selfie with a fellow '90s supermodel who turned to a much more normal life, Helena Christensen. In the snap, both ladies looked like they were rocking next to no makeup — and talk about glow. Ghauri's skin looked beyond perfect, and we dare say her eyes were even more striking sans heavy eyeliner and mascara. Ghauri's natural beauty approach seemed to extend to her hair, too. Far from her grays making her unrecognizable, we'd argue the look is just as chic as the luscious dark blowout she sported back in the day. After all, there's a reason she became a supermodel!
Yasmeen Ghauri isn't opposed to a trip down memory lane
Yasmeen Ghauri may have vanished from the supermodel scene, but that doesn't mean she's opposed to looking back on her days in the spotlight. Far from it, since joining Instagram in 2022, she regularly shares throwback pics and videos from that time in her life, and her second post on the platform came with the caption, "There is so much I'd like to share with you about my crazy, blessed trip modeling in the 90s." In the time since, she's spoken about the photographers she loved working with, how certain looks impacted the way she'd show them on the runway, and shared well wishes to her fellow supers. In the caption of her aforementioned snap with Helena Christensen, Ghauri also reminisced, gushing, "Just saw this gorgeous creature after 25 years and we picked up right where we left off! Love you Helena! I've missed your mischievous ways." Ghauri shared a clip of the two walking the catwalk at a Christian Lacroix fashion show in the post's second slide, too.
Of course, while the bulk of Ghauri's Instagram features photos and videos from back in the day, she does share the odd update from her post-fashion life. She often shouts out her daughter Magdalena and son Jack Bernstein on their birthdays. That's a pretty big deal in itself since they were kept out of the limelight for most of their lives.
That said, even with those fleeting glimpses, for the most part, Ghauri keeps her day-to-day life with husband Ralph Bernstein under wraps. Given that she chose to step away from a life in the spotlight, we don't blame her. Still, we'll be the first to admit we get excited every time she does share a little more about her post-fame life.
