Star-Studded US Open Match Shows How Awkward Hollywood's Dating Scene Can Be
Running into an ex can be awkward, but the reality for many stars active on the social scene is that it's often unavoidable. Case in point: Both Ines de Ramon and her ex-husband, actor Paul Wesley, attended the US Open finals (and yes, both were papped while there). The jewelry designer and her current boyfriend Brad Pitt have been an item for a few years now, but de Ramon was recently married to the "Vampire Diaries" star. Both de Ramon and Wesley moved on from their marriage pretty quickly, with her and Pitt first being linked in November 2022, while the hunky actor was spotted with now-wife Natalie Kuckenburg the following month. For reference, the celeb couple announced their separation that September, so like we said, a fairly quick rebound on both parts.
Fast-forward to 2026, and Pitt, de Ramon, Wesley, and Kuckenburg were all among the many famous faces attending the US Open finals. Granted, we didn't see the couples interacting with one another at any point, and with there being so many other stars in attendance, it's possible they didn't even notice who they were sharing the stadium with. Still, it serves as a reminder that in Hollywood, there's always a chance of an awkward run-in. And, where normies have to endure a few friends talking about it, the A-list set must endure the chatter of netizens far and wide too.
Ines de Ramon and Paul Wesley are reportedly amicable
It's worth noting that Ines de Ramon and Paul Wesley's divorce wasn't exactly the most dramatic split we've ever seen. In fact, when the former lovebirds parted ways in 2022, a rep told People firmly, "The decision to separate is mutual." In the time since, there's also been speculation that the exes remained friendly. This, after details of their divorce emerged, and ET reported that, alongside the "Vampire Diaries" star's filing going uncontested, both parties also waived spousal support. Of course, the same can't quite be said of Brad Pitt and his own ex, Angelina Jolie, whose divorce was one of the most dramatic in Hollywood history.
That was something a Daily Mail reader pointed out, when his and de Ramon's attendance at the US Open finals made headlines. "It would be different if Angelina turned up with all the kids in tow," they quipped. TBH, they're not wrong. That being said, the likelihood of Pitt and Jolie being spotted at the same event is slim to none. Sure enough, even when they've attended the same film festivals, they've gone on separate days. Such was the case at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. The glitzy event's artistic director confirmed to Vanity Fair that it had been organized specifically to avoid any awkward run-ins while the exes went through their drawn-out divorce.
At the end of the day, when you're in the same industry or social circle, there are always some exes who manage to make nice and keep it moving, while others are committed to avoiding each other. Luckily, de Ramon and Wesley seem to fall under the former category, and we're happy for 'em.
