Why You'll Never See Hallmark's Lacey Chabert On Dancing With The Stars
Lacey Chabert is a well-known face for Hallmark viewers thanks to how often the network appears on her resume, and fans love getting to see her take on new and interesting characters in her latest flicks. She's portrayed a seamstress who falls for a prince in "A Royal Christmas," an NYC real estate broker who finds unexpected love in Vermont in "Moonlight in Vermont," and almost everything in between (although not every Hallmark role has been a fan favorite). She's even gotten quite good at dancing thanks to some of her rom-com roles. But despite her clear talent, Chabert doesn't plan on taking her skills to the dance floor of "Dancing with the Stars" and trying her hand at winning the Mirrorball Trophy.
Although fans of the actor would probably love to see her on the popular reality competition show, Chabert doesn't agree. While talking about her 2023 film "The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango" with co-star Will Kemp in a Facebook Live that was later shared on the Hallmark Mystery YouTube channel, Kemp praised Chabert's talent for dancing. He said that Chabert helped him keep time during a rehearsal, thanking her for her help. Considering Kemp is a professional dancer, classically trained in ballet with experience in contemporary dance, this is high praise. The two then started answering rapid-fire questions, including one about who would be more likely to take part in a dance competition.
Chabert immediately answered, "Will," but he didn't agree, noting that he'd heard talk about her and "Dancing with the Stars." But the "Party of Five" star quickly shut him down, saying, "No, definitely not. I love watching, but too scared." She seemed firm in her answer, which is a bummer for those who'd love to see her take on the challenge.
Despite her reluctance, Lacey Chabert would probably do very well on the show
While Lacey Chabert quickly stopped any conversation about her possibly participating in a season of "Dancing with the Stars," other Hallmark stars didn't have the same qualms and have competed over the years. This includes Candace Cameron Bure, known for the "Aurora Teagarden Mysteries" film series, Danica McKellar, known for flicks like "Crown for Christmas" and "My Christmas Dream," and Cameron Mathison, who starred in the "Murder, She Baked" movie series and more. Cameron Bure made it all the way to third place in Season 18, while McKellar finished sixth in the same season. Mathison ranked fifth in Season 5.
Thankfully, it doesn't seem like Chabert's feelings about "Dancing with the Stars" extend to dancing on a film set. She has now starred in two different Hallmark movies with Will Kemp featuring dancing, "A Christmas Waltz" in 2020 and "The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango" in 2023. The second time around, Kemp urged Chabert to stop saying she isn't a dancer, continually praising her skills. While promoting the latter film at News Channel 5, Chabert admitted that she was "really fearful of the dancing," but according to Kemp, it didn't show in her performance.
Kemp called his co-star "phenomenal," saying, "She will tell you, 'Dance was never my thing' and 'I never really ...' [but] this lady can dance. And there were days when she dragged me around the dance floor because I lost my counts and the dialogue and everything." Throughout the films they've done together, Chabert has learned how to dance a waltz, tango, foxtrot, and more. Her transformation over the years is impressive, and hopefully, fans will get to see more styles of dance from Chabert in the future.
