Another day, another reason for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to end up in the news cycle. This time around, it involves their lavish Fourth of July wedding celebrations at Madison Square Garden, which were attended by dozens of Hollywood celebrities and reportedly set the couple back an estimated $30 million. You know the ones. Well, fans are angry at the pop superstar and NFL pro over reports that their wedding decorations were destroyed and burned to the ground so that they couldn't be repurposed or resold online. According to an insider who spoke to the Daily Mail, "They didn't want people to steal it and then auction it or sell it so they just burned it all." The decor, which included props and displays featuring the couple's wedding logo, was loaded onto a fleet of semi-trucks and transported to Pennsylvania, to be incinerated.

"The fact that no one has relics of it and it all had to get burned and properly disposed of is kind of crazy," one concerned citizen lamented. "Eleven semi-trucks to transport cross-country and then just burn it all down was pretty wild, just because you don't want people [to have access to it]." However, the "Shake It Off" hitmaker herself may not have been directly involved in the decision-making. Unfortunately, that didn't stop users from coming after her and Kelce anyway. As many netizens pointed out, the ultra-wealthy celebrity couple simply could've stored the decorations or auctioned them off for charity rather than letting them go to waste. "She loves polluting doesn't she," one X user quipped. Another argued, "There were so many better options." A third wrote, alongside a disgusted face emoji, "Yeah this tracks for her," while another remarked, "Well this is just ridiculously irresponsible and close minded given the climate crisis we're in."

Taylor Swift has faced similar allegations in the past

Notably, this isn't the first time that Taylor Swift has come under fire for being environmentally harmful. The "Cleveland" singer, who owns a private jet — among many other expensive things she's acquired over the years — faced significant backlash over her excessive lifestyle after a 2022 study found that Swift's private jet usage was responsible for emitting a whopping 8,293.54 metric tons of carbon, or about 1,185 more times what the average person emits in a year. "Swift's carbon emissions are extreme and are polluting the atmosphere," environmentalist Leah Thomas warned the BBC. "Carbon emissions are one of the leading causes of the climate crisis." Given this latest report about the wedding decorations being destroyed, the pop superstar has only given her haters even more reason to criticize and question what they consider incredibly wasteful behavior.

This whole debacle is just the latest in a string of controversies Swift and Travis Kelce have faced since their star-studded nuptials back in July. In recent months, the celebrity couple also found themselves in the spotlight after fighting with their new neighbors over plans to put up a privacy fence around their lakefront mansion in Ohio. So far, their neighbors have shown no signs of backing down in their war against Swift and Kelce. But, away from all the drama, sources claim the A-listers are very much enjoying life as newlyweds. "They're both just so excited that they're husband and wife now," a source gushed to People in August, noting, "Their relationship feels even more special. They both feel really grateful for everything they have. They're very happy."
