In October 2026, fans of HGTV's Dave Marrs and Jenny Marrs were left concerned when the home renovation experts revealed that one of their children was hospitalized due to a medical procedure. Through an Instagram Stories post, Jenny asked her followers to pray for their son Ben Marrs' well-being ahead of a surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Thankfully, the procedure is generally considered safe and is used to treat torn cartilage in the knee caused by sudden twisting and/or turning movements. It is especially common among young adults and athletes, particularly those who engage in contact sports, but can also affect elderly people, according to Cleveland Clinic.

Hours later, Jenny offered an update on their son, along with a snap she took inside a hospital room. "They just took Ben back for surgery. Donna [Dave's mom] worked here at this hospital and on this floor for years," Jenny shared, referring to her mother-in-law who passed away in September 2025 after being diagnosed with dementia. She was 76 years old. "Ben's surgeon is a friend and Donna was his nurse. He prayed over our boy and all of Donna's nurse friends have stopped in to hug me and check on Ben," Jenny continued. "Goodness I miss her, especially on days like today."

After the surgery, she posted a screenshot of a text message that appeared to be from Ben's surgeon, confirming that he was okay and that everything had gone smoothly. "Able to repair his complex tear," said the doctor, to which Jenny replied, "Amazing news!" She then thanked all those who sent their well-wishes and prayers for Ben in her caption. "We are home and getting him settled," wrote the "Fixer to Fabulous" host. "The surgery went better than expected and now we focus on healing!"

Ben Marrs was hospitalized as an infant

Ben Marrs (pictured above in the gray shirt) is one of Dave Marrs and Jenny Marrs' oldest twin children, who were born in May 2010 following the couple's struggles to conceive earlier in their marriage. In her 2023 memoir "House + Love = Home: Creating Warm, Intentional Spaces for a Beautiful Life," Jenny detailed the frightening experience of going into pre-term labor at just 29 weeks while pregnant with Ben and his twin brother, Nathan Marrs (the one wearing the white shirt). After an unsuccessful attempt to delay an early delivery, the HGTV star had to be airlifted to a hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, where doctors warned her and Dave to prepare for the worst possible outcome. (Read: The tragic truth about the Marrs family.) "[We] were told the boys would certainly be born within the next twenty-four hours. We absorbed their words in silence. We huddled together on the hospital bed and prayed and cried," Jenny recalled on Instagram. (See also: The tragedy of HGTV's Jenny Marrs is just sad.)

Ben and Nathan ended up being born exactly four weeks later and spent another four weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit of their local hospital. After welcoming their twins, Jenny and Dave decided to adopt a daughter named Sylvie and went on to have two more kids, daughter Charlotte and son Luke. These days, Ben and Nathan are now in their teens and celebrated their 16th birthday in May 2026. Speaking about her and Dave's long road to parenthood, Jenny reflected in an interview with Kelly's Korner, "We struggled and lost a small amount of our sanity. Yet, we treasured those long-fought-for moments and pinched ourselves as we praised God for abundantly answering our prayers."
