The Classy Response Anna Faris Had To The Birth Of Chris Pratt's Baby

Although Hollywood divorces can get pretty ugly at times, actress Anna Faris and actor Chris Pratt stand as the perfect example of how to co-parent in the wake of separation. After all, the former spouses share son Jack — born in August 2012 — who remains their top priority. And now that Pratt welcomed his first child with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, Faris once again demonstrated how her bond with the Jurassic World star extends beyond their past romance.

In August 2020, Pratt and Schwarzenegger welcomed their daughter Lyla Maria into the world. "We couldn't be happier," Pratt posted on Instagram. "Both mom and baby are doing great. We are extremely blessed." And according to an inside source, Faris seemed equally excited about the arrival of her son's little sister. "Anna congratulated them and sent a gift," the source told E! News. "They are on good terms and have a nice relationship. She's happy for Jack to be a big brother and is very supportive."

For fans who have followed Faris and Pratt's relationship thus far, her classy response won't come as a shock. "We are so good and respectful towards each other, and I think that there is so much kindness and love," Faris explained during her appearance on the Divorce Sucks! podcast. "It is very difficult to be completely separate from somebody you have spent so much emotional investment with." And this isn't the first time Faris has shown support for her ex-husband's new relationship either.

Chris Pratt contacted Anna Faris before he proposed to Katherine Schwarzenegger

Having been married for nearly 10 years, actress Anna Faris and actor Chris Pratt developed a bond that has allowed them to remain close, even as they moved on from their relationship. Yet, while fans might've expected some animosity between the two as Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger shortly after their breakup, Faris has always been supportive of her ex-husband and his happiness. In fact, when Pratt was about to propose to Schwarzenegger, he turned to his ex-wife first.

"How do we make sure that everybody that we love feels safe, and that we also respect the love that we had for each other, and have for each other?" Faris told host Laura Wasser on the Divorce Sucks! podcast. "So, he was so sweet, as he always is. He called me, and he was like, 'So, I'm going to ask Katherine to marry me. I just want to give you a heads-up.' And I was like, 'That's awesome!'

After he proposed, Pratt contacted Faris once again. "Chris texted me this morning and he was like, you know, 'I proposed to Katherine last night,' I was like, 'Ah that's amazing!'" Faris revealed on her podcast Anna Faris Is Unqualified (per Harper's Bazaar). "I texted him back like, 'Just want to remind you, I'm an ordained minister.'" Faris also shared her support for the pair on Instagram, writing, "I'm so happy for you both!! Congratulations!"

Anna Faris might love Katherine Schwarzenegger even more than Chris Pratt does

While Anna Faris realizes that bitterness often comes along with divorce, she's not even remotely jealous of Chris Pratt's new wife Katherine Schwarzenegger. In fact, Faris might love her more than her ex-husband. "Sweet Chris, my ex, got engaged to Katherine today, and I'm so happy for them," she said on her Unqualified podcast (per Harper's Bazaar). "I knew that it was gonna happen, and I love her, and I love him, and I'm just so happy that they found each other. I so subscribe to the idea of expanding family and love, with Jack."

And the love flows both ways, as Schwarzenegger expressed admiration for Faris because the Mom star served as inspiration when she launched her own podcast, The Dog That Changed Me. "[Anna] has an incredibly successful podcast. I really admire all the work that she's done, and she's definitely an expert at it," Schwarzenegger told Us Weekly. "Learning from her is another huge gift... she's definitely somebody that I look up to in the podcast world."

"They're both f**king amazing people. I'm so happy," Faris noted. "The truth is, there isn't any bitterness. And I'm just so happy that we're all really happy." After all, Faris found love again, too. She got engaged to cinematographer Michael Barrett, whom she met on the set of Overboard, in late 2019. We can't help but admire the strength behind their blended family.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are dedicated to co-parenting their son Jack

When Anna Faris and Chris Pratt announced their breakup in 2017, they both agreed to put their son Jack first. Thus, Faris and Pratt signed on for joint custody. As TMZ reported, Faris and Pratt's divorce settlement even states that the former couple agreed to live within five miles of one another until at least 2023 for the sake of their son. And while Faris understands that divorces typically come with an element of pain, she and Pratt have chosen to put Jack's happiness ahead of their own.

"Chris and I work really hard [to co-parent] because we have Jack," she said (via Entertainment Tonight). "That is sort of the long game idea and making sure Jack is really happy, which makes us really happy." Faris also told Laura Wasser's Divorce Sucks! podcast that she and her ex-husband hope to "have group Thanksgiving dinners together and to be at that place" in their effort to create a loving family atmosphere for son Jack.

She explained, "Grudge holding is not something that Chris and I do, so, we wanted to make sure, of course, that Jack was happy, but that we were happy and supportive of each other and that we could have this fantasy idea of, do we all spend Christmas together? Do we all vacation together?" With "so much kindness and love" to go around, no wonder fans can't get enough of this aspirational modern family.
