The Most Embarrassing Celebrity Spouse Confessions

A big part of being a celebrity is the ability to come up with interesting anecdotes for talk shows and magazine interviews, the more provocative the better. While headlines are often ensured, especially when a masterful interviewer like Howard Stern finesses stars to reveal more than they had intended, sometimes lines get crossed.

This is particularly true when celebs are telling stories that involve their spouses. How many awkward conversations have resulted in stars giving TMI interviews that revealed heretofore hidden information that their better halves really wished had stayed that way? Yet regardless of how much these embarrassing confessions may impact celebrities' lives, fans still cannot get enough.

From a famous TV host whose bedroom revelation about his music superstar wife made international headlines to an iconic movie idol whose divulgence of a very specific sex act nearly cost him his marriage, let's discover some of the most embarrassing celebrity spouse confessions.

Michael Douglas 'regretted' his NSFW theory about what caused his throat cancer

Michael Douglas revealed he had throat cancer in 2010, with The Guardian reporting he told viewers of The Late Show with David Letterman that the cancer — stage 4 — had spread. By June 2013, the actor was gratefully cancer-free while promoting his latest project, discussing his illness frankly with The Guardian ... perhaps a little too frankly. According to Douglas, "Without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV [human papillomavirus], which actually comes about from cunnilingus ... it's a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. And if you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it."

Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones subsequently separated that August, with The Sun citing sources who claimed the split was over his cunnilingus confession (they reconciled by April 2014).

Two years later, while speaking with the Daily Mail, Douglas was asked to clarify whether he had actually implied that oral sex cures throat cancer. "No, I was trying to make a public service comment," he said. "It was one of those things ... and I so regretted any embarrassment that it caused Catherine. And her family."

The inequitable sex arrangement between DJ Khaled and wife Nicole Tuck

DJ Khaled will never find himself in a Michael Douglas-type situation, explaining in a 2014 interview with The Breakfast Club that he refuses to undertake the act that the actor claimed gave him throat cancer. "Hell, no ... There's certain things I just don't do," the musician insisted.

"I believe a woman should praise the man — the king. If you holding it down for your woman, I feel like the woman should praise," DJ Khaled added, revealing that he expected wife Nicole Tuck to do to him what he won't do for her. "It's different rules for men," he continued of the inequitable arrangement. "You gotta understand, we the king ... I just can't do what you want me to do. I just can't."

Unsurprisingly, several celebrities weighed in on his confession. Musician Jason Isbell tweeted that "DJ Khaled would be a much better rapper if his tongue was stronger," while comedian Billy Eichner sent "thoughts and prayers to DJ Khaled's wife's vagina." Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson then dropped the mic. "Ahem... *clears throat*," he tweeted. "As a man, I take great pride in mastering ALL performances. This is probably a little TMI ... I will now quietly excuse myself from this fun thread."

Brooks Laich liked to suck on Julianne Hough's toes

When it comes to using one's mouth to pleasure a partner, former NHL player Brooks Laich apparently took the concept and ran with it. As he revealed in a 2019 edition of his How Men Think podcast, he declared that then-wife Julianne Hough (she filed for divorce the following year) "really enjoys" when he sucked on her toes. "True story," he said (via People). "Hey, we play around. Why not?"

However, the Dancing With the Stars alum subsequently insisted that, in fact, she did not derive any satisfaction by having her toes inside Laich's mouth. "There was definitely something he misquoted on one of his podcast episodes, though," Hough said in an interview with People. "He was like, 'Let me clear that up.' He likes to suck on my toes, I don't like it!"

Indeed, Laich also divulged that the toe-sucking was not reciprocal. "No, I would never [have her do that to me]," he said (via People). "My toes are in skates and workout shoes. I can shower and soap them up, but I would never."

Meghan Trainor vomited on hubby Daryl Sabara after he proposed

Meghan Trainor and Spy Kids star Daryl Sabara were married in 2018, after Sabara popped the question in December 2017. Shortly after the engagement, the "All About That Bass" singer paid a visit to daytime chat show The Talk. Co-host Sharon Osbourne wanted to know more about the magical moment, and asked Trainor to reveal "everything" — and boy oh boy, did she ever.

According to Trainor (via Billboard), "Something happened the next day that wasn't so great," and proceeded to share all the gruesome details. "So we went to this hotel and we're eating hotel food, and the day that we drove home, I got food poisoning on the car ride," she said. "So, he's driving and I'm just in his face like [imitates puking noise] ... I told him, 'I'm so sorry,'" she added. Sabara, however, was nonplussed by having his new fiancée heave all over him. "He's like, 'I would kiss you right now,'" Trainor added. Insert sound of "awwwww" here.

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn were nearly arrested during their first time together

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have been together since 1983. During a 2017 visit to the now-defunct Harry talk show (via People), Russell revealed the couple's very first intimate encounter featured an unexpected cameo from the LAPD.

The night of their first date, they wound up at a house that Hawn had just bought and was about to renovate. "We eventually found our way upstairs, looking around at imaginary furniture and we were in the imaginary bedroom, now, and we are realistically having sex," Russell said with a laugh, "when the police walked in because we had to break into the place to get in."

Hawn later related her own embarrassing bedroom story on The Late Late Show. As host James Corden told her, Russell had guested on the show a few days before and told "the sweetest story" about the couple re-watching their comedy, Overboard, together. Hawn, however, had more details to add. "First we were going to make love, and that just put the whole kibosh on that," she recalled. "And it's not like that happens every day."

Kate Upton revealed her spouse's baseball career is a major 'buzzkill' in the bedroom

Model Kate Upton is married to Major League Baseball pitcher Justin Verlander, who's played for the Detroit Tigers and the Houston Astros. Verlander's vocation came into play when Upton made a 2017 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, after a caller — referencing some sports stars' preference of avoiding sex prior to game day — asked whether her husband preferred to get it on before or after games.

"There's no sex before a game, absolutely none," Upton confirmed. However, she had a bit more to add, revealing that the period following a big game can be just as sexually frustrating as the time leading up to one. "... And then also what I just found out is if he plays too well, there's no sex after, either," she continued, explaining the reason for that was because Verlander was simply "exhausted" after a game. "Kind of a buzzkill for me," Upton joked.

Chrissy Teigen was surprised to learn John Legend had seen a very-hidden part of her anatomy

There's not much about Chrissy Teigen's life that she hasn't shared with her fans, but "Candid Chrissy" took the concept of TMI to a whole new level in a 2017 interview with Marie Claire (via Cosmopolitan).

In one part of the interview, Teigen was asked if there was a part of her body that her husband, musician John Legend, had never laid eyes on. Apparently, there wasn't. "John and I had a double date, and we were joking around, and I go, 'John's never seen my butthole.' And John says, 'Are you kidding? Every time anyone does anything doggy style, you see a butthole. I see it every time,'" she divulged. "I was like, 'We are never doing it doggy style again.'"

That anecdote probably left Legend looking the way he did in a 2015 red carpet interview with Extra, in which Teigen was asked to reveal a "public place you did it." She responded, "Probably the Obama thing?" Legend, looking embarrassed, clammed up while claiming, "I don't know," when asked what Teigen was talking about. "We're not gonna discuss that," he added, while Teigen confirmed their tryst didn't take place at the White House. "Sorry, I'm in trouble now," Teigen admitted as they beat a hasty retreat.

Kim Kardashian admitted Kanye West was wearing her out in the bedroom

When Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West were trying for their second child, they ended up having a lot of sex ... a lot of sex. In the 2015 season premiere of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, reported E!, she revealed that she and the "Stronger" rapper were knocking boots a mind-boggling 15 times per day. However, upon seeking medical advice, Kardashian learned that when it comes to baby-making, quality trumps quantity. "The doctor said he thinks I'm having sex too much," she explained. "He said one time is more powerful ... so we've tried everything."

Kardashian also had a little more TMI to share with her sisters. "The doctor said when I have sex I have to lay down for, like, 10 to 20 minutes, so, I just had sex before you guys got here," she said (via People). "He said it takes 10 minutes for a sperm to swim up there. I'm going to wait like five more minutes just for this to marinate inside of me."

Kristen Bell once made Dax Shepard 'nurse' her

Kristen Bell had a candid tale to tell in an episode of her Momsplaining digital series, speaking with special guest Katie Lowes. Bell was telling the Scandal star that shortly after her baby had stopped nursing, she'd developed mastitis, an inflammation of the breast that results from milk building up in the ducts. Given that she and husband Dax Shepard were in Atlanta at the time, halfway across the country from her doctor in Los Angeles, the fast-thinking actress came up with a clever solution to remove the milk from her painful, swollen breast.

"So I said to my husband, 'I'm gonna need you to suck this out. We could talk about it, we could be weird about it, or you could just go ahead and nurse,'" Bell recalled. Lowes' reaction was one of shock bordering on horror. "So what do you do... Kristen?" she said with a gasp. "Oh. My. God."

Shepard, Bell divulged, proved to be a trouper, channeling his inner infant by getting in there and sucking out the milk. "He had a cup next to him. He was pulling out and spitting into this cup, and I've never been more in love," admitted Bell. "In my life."

Suzanne Somers' candid confessions about her love life with spouse Alan Hamel

Suzanne Somers and Alan Hamel have been married for more than 40 years. In a 2019 interview, the Three's Company star/Thighmaster mogul revealed that she and the former Canadian talk show host were still going at it hot and heavy, despite their advanced ages (she was 73, and he was 83 at the time), thanks to taking plant-based hormones designed to increase the libido.

As Somers told the Daily Mail, the couple were "kind of in that groove, like when you were younger and you're in the mood all the time." The supplement, she explained, "Stimulates that part of your brain that says, 'Hey, I'm kind of in the mood.' And, so, isn't that a wonderful thing? And it's not a drug, so I love it."

Thanks to the "sexual stimulant" PT-141, Somers claimed that she and Hamel were getting busy at least twice a day. "I usually say I sleep through one of them. That's usually that one at 4 o'clock in the morning," she quipped. "But, you know, then again around 8 o'clock in the morning, I'm in the mood."

Tom Schwartz once watched TV while getting intimate with wife Katie Maloney

Viewers of Vanderpump Rules are well acquainted with Tom Schwartz and wife Katie Maloney. According to The Daily Dish, during an edition of the Vanderpump Rules After Show, Schwartz offered a TMI revelation about how he once managed to combine two of his very favorite things: having sex and watching TV sitcoms.

Schwartz made the confession when Vanderpump bartender Jax Taylor spilled on a secret he'd shared with him. "Did he tell you the one time he watched Two and a Half Men during sex?" Jax blurted out. "He started watching TV when, what did you say, while Katie was on top of [you]? And Katie found out that you were watching TV during sex? That's something I would do!"

Schwartz had an explanation, and it was, um, interesting. "It was a good episode: it was when Charlie Sheen was still on," he contended. "No offense to Ashton Kutcher; I love him too but I liked it more when Charlie Sheen was on there and I got caught up in an episode and eventually [Katie] set me straight, though."

Sharon Osbourne drugged husband Ozzy to catch him cheating

In 2016, Ozzy Osbourne's relationship with wife Sharon Osbourne nearly went off the cliff when she learned he was having an affair with his hairstylist, Michelle Pugh. "I'm not proud of that ... I broke her heart," the rocker later told GQ, adding that he felt "lucky she didn't leave me."

At the time, Sharon had her suspicions and took some extreme measures to gain confirmation. "I was a broken woman. He sent me an email that was meant for one of his women," she told The Sun. "Then he took his sleeping pills. I put an extra two in his drink ... and asked him everything, and everything came out." Sharon subsequently learned there were other women, as well. "Only then did he come out and say, 'I'm an addict. I can't help it.'"

During an episode of her CBS talk show, The Talk, reported E!, Sharon revealed that her husband was receiving "outpatient" treatment for sex addiction. "He's working at it. It's hard because it affects the whole family. And it's quite embarrassing to talk about," she admitted.

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey had sex to her music

During a 2012 interview on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show, Nick Cannon revealed that when he and then-wife Mariah Carey (they split up in 2014) got romantic, it was her music that provided the sexy soundtrack. As Entertainment Weekly reported, host Howard Stern asked Cannon if Carey ever sang to him while engaged in the act. "Yes! When I'm doing a good job," he responded, adding, "Yo, I ain't got [Carey's 1993 single] 'Hero' yet."

During that same interview, noted the New York Daily News, Cannon revealed that Carey's songs were also his music of choice when he was in the mood and "she's not there," saying, "I don't light candles but sometimes you've got to be reminded what's at home."

Apparently, those comments did not go down well with his then-spouse. "I've answered this question while I was married — mistake!" Cannon admitted in a post-divorce interview with Amber Rose, as documented by Us Weekly. "She didn't like the fact that I told the world that we have sex to her music, but it was true!" he declared. "Can you imagine having sex with Mariah Carey while Mariah Carey is playing in the back?"
