Not all hope is lost for Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas following the news of their breakup. The couple went their separate ways in January 2021 after over a year of dating — but less than a week after People broke the story, others say the former pair are still in cahoots. However, their continued friendship isn't too surprising, since "this is something that was mutual and something that is completely amicable," a source revealed at time of their split. "They are in different points in their lives; there is deep love and respect there. Ben continues to want to work on himself. He has three jobs lined up and he's a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives."
As for why the pair went their separate ways just one month after de Armas moved into Affleck's home, "Ana doesn't want to be Los Angeles-based and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles," the source shared. Additionally, it seems like Affleck's ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, might have gotten in the way of their romance when it comes to sharing their kids. "Jen is an overprotective mom and because of Ben's past, [she can be] a little overbearing and interfering at times. I don't think she realizes it though," a source told In Touch Weekly. They might have gone their separate ways for now, but Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas are still very much involved in each other's day-to-day routines. "They still love each other. Ben misses her," a source told Page Six on Jan. 25, 2021. In fact, the exes still speak "several times a day."
Previously, the outlet reported that the two were in "different places," and at odds over having more children. "[Affleck] would not commit to having more kids. She is in her 30s. It was a deal-breaker," a second source revealed. "Ben is not in a place to start a new family. Both he and Ana have three jobs lined up. His family has, and will continue, to be his focus."
