The Real Reason Drew Barrymore Never Got Plastic Surgery

Celebrities have become synonymous with plastic surgery, but Drew Barrymore is one famous gal who is straying away from going under the knife. "I've never done anything to my face, and I would like to try not to," she said on the Feb. 17, 2021, episode of her talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show. However, she's leaving the door open to the possibility of surgical enhancements, adding, "never say never."

So, if the 50 First Dates star isn't opposed to plastic surgery, why is she so reluctant to give it a try? Well, it seems like she's less nervous about knives and needles than the mental health ramifications that could follow after a nip and tuck. "The thing that I do care about and I do feel is still relevant to my life is the face. I know myself. I'm a highly addictive person. I do one injection, I'm going to look like Jocelyn Wildenstein by Friday," she explained, referencing the famous socialite who is also known as "Catwoman" due to the various enhancements made to her face.

Aside from her fears of the aftermath, Barrymore isn't into plastic surgery for another important reason. Keep scrolling to see what else Barrymore has to say about nips and tucks.

Drew Barrymore wants to let mother nature do her work

Drew Barrymore has never played by anyone else's rules, and she thinks her distaste for the norm helped her steer clear from succumbing to plastic surgery. "I think because I'm so rebellious that I saw all of that pressure and I saw all of those women torturing themselves to look a certain way and I thought, 'You miserable people,' she explained of her reluctance towards going under the knife on The Drew Barrymore Show.

"I just never wanted to be afraid of what life would do to me," Barrymore said of welcoming the process of aging. "I probably went to too many opposite extremes. Now I'm boring and safe and healthy." However, she wishes others could "let go and give in to the ride of life a little bit more."

While discussing aging gracefully, she added, "We're going to age, things are going to go south, and it's OK, it's a part of life." She continued, "I feel more human and more vulnerable every year of my life, but I also know how to appreciate every year more and more too."
