The Truth About Kourtney Kardashian's Relationship With Travis Barker's Kids

Blending two families is never easy, but we guess it's a little easier when no introductions are needed. As for Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, who were neighbors and friends long before the couple went public with their blossoming relationship in February 2021, they are navigating the roles they will play in each other's children's lives.

While we know Kourtney is mother to her three kids — Mason, Penelope, and Reign — with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, fans are just getting to know Barker's trio — son Landon and daughter Alabama, whom he shares with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya. Although Atiana's dad is Oscar De La Hoya, who Moakler was involved with prior to Barker, the Blink-182 drummer "considers Atiana his own flesh and blood," a source told In Touch Weekly.

Around the same time the couple went public with their romance, Kourtney was spotted seemingly trying to get in good graces with the rock star's children, gifting his daughters some Skims in time for Valentine's Day. "Thank you [Kourtney Kardashian]," Alabama wrote on her Instagram Story with a Boomerang of the Poosh founder's gift. Additionally, the teen posted about a $795 Prada bag Kourtney gave her for the holidays, per The Sun. But while the gifts may be nice, how do Barker's kids really feel about the reality star?

Travis Barker's kids think Kourtney Kardashian is 'cool'

Although it could be tough to accept your parents' significant others, it seems like Travis Barker's kids have welcomed Kourtney Kardashian with open arms. "His 15-year-old daughter, Alabama, loves Kourtney," a source told In Touch Weekly in February 2021. "[Alabama] follows her on social media and loves her style. His 17-year-old son, Landon, is just happy that his dad is dating," the source revealed. As for stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya: "Like Alabama, she grew up watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians and thinks Kourtney is pretty cool."

Despite thinking highly of Kourtney, his kids have yet to bond with the Disicks, but mainly on account of their ages. "All of Travis and Shanna's kids know Kourtney's kids," the insider shared. "They're a lot younger so they don't hang out, but they've all seen each other grow up. That's why Travis wants everyone to respect each other and get along. They don't have to be best friends, but he doesn't want any drama."

Travis Barker's kids were super supportive of their dad's engagement with Kourtney

It's one thing to get along well with dad's new girlfriend, but the dynamic can definitely change when the idea of marriage starts floating around. Luckily for Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian, there seemed to be nothing but love as they took the next step in their relationship. When the pair got engaged in October 2021, Barker's kids took to social media to celebrate the news and give their blessings.

Barker's son Landon wrote in an Instagram Story, per People, "I'm so happy for you guys love you guys so much!" The drummer's daughter Alabama shared a similar message while his stepdaughter Atiana simply shared a snap of Kourtney's new rock with a heart emoji.

It is very clear that Barker's kids approve of their dad's relationship. In fact, Alabama referred to Kourtney as her "stepmom" before any engagement excitement was in the air. Even if the couple's love leads to excessive PDA — prompting awkward requests from Kourtney's kids to avoid seeing them make out — there is an overwhelming sense of approval in this blended family. The quick connection and welcoming attitude from Alabama, Landon, and Atiana makes sense when seeing how close Barker is with them at home.

Travis Barker is a family man through-and-through

Travis Barker gave an inside look into his Calabasas home and what daily life is like with Kourtney Kardashian and their blended family. During the interview and tour with AD in May 2022, Barker explained that his days of decorating with "flashy cars" and such are over. "With three children of my own, plus Kourtney's kids, this place felt right for this moment in my life," he explained. "I wanted a house where I can rest and enjoy my family, a place where we can create memories."

What does a Barker-Kardashian Sunday look like at his Southern California dreamhouse? As he tells it, everyone gathers around their big dining table, eats a vegan meal, and moves on to play games and watch movies. How normal! Kourtney lives close, so there isn't much to do in terms of expanding the house. However, Barker is still tweaking things with the kids in mind. "Right now I'm just planning to convert my home studio into a bunk room so her kids are comfortable here," he shared with AD.

Barker's family focus was a big hit with Kourtney early on. As the couple went public with their relationship, a source told the U.S. Sun, "He's a good guy and a really great dad. Her family and friends all really like him. Their kids all get along too, which is sweet." With the endless happy vibes in the household, it's no wonder the couple were ready to walk down the aisle.
