Harry And Meghan Show How Much Archie Has Grown Up

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle delighted fans by supplying a video of their son, Archie, to Oprah Winfrey, which aired during their interview on March 7, 2021. It's worth noting here that Harry and Meghan make it a point to keep their toddler out of the spotlight. In fact, it has been several months since the youngster has been seen in any public forum. And it's safe to say, Archie — who arrived in May 2019 — has grown a great deal since moving to the U.S. with his family in 2020. He is talking and walking, well, running, and his parents are just so in love with him.

Case in point: When Oprah asked Harry "what delights [him] now" in his everyday life, he gave a heartfelt answer. "This year has been crazy for everybody," Harry began, holding his wife's hand, according to CBS News. "But to have outdoor space where I can go for walks with Archie and as a family, with the dogs; to go for hikes or go down to the beach... the highlight for me is sticking him on the back of a bicycling in his little bathing suit and taking him on these bike rides, something I was never able to do when I was young." As he spoke, a black-and-white video of Archie playing on the beach played on the television.

So what does Archie look like now? Scroll down below to find out.

Archie already has quite the vocabulary

Archie does look very grown-up these days, sporting a full head of hair. He appears to be the perfect mix of both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and he's a very busy boy on a mission! The video showed him playing on the beach with his parents and his dog nearby.

Harry went on to tell Oprah Winfrey that having this freedom is such a joy. He expressed a highlight of his daily life is to take his son on a bike ride down the street. He mimicked his son, telling Oprah that the young boy is very observant and will point out things like palm trees and houses as he rides along on his dad's bicycle. Oprah interrupted Harry to ask what Archie's new favorite word is, which got a chuckle out of Meghan. "Oh my gosh, he's on a roll," she said, placing her hand on her forehead. "The past couple of weeks, it has been 'hydrate,' which is just hysterical," Meghan explained.

"But also, whenever anyone leaves the house, he's like, 'drive safe,'" Harry added, with Meghan echoing the words. The three of them got a good laugh out of the cuteness!

Who does Archie take after in the royal family?

Judging by the sweet anecdotes Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared with Oprah Winfrey, it seems like Archie already takes after other members of his famous family. His paternal grandfather, Prince Charles, has been an environmental activist for decades; in fact, his love for Mother Nature is central to his royal work. In February 2021, the British heir and avid gardener challenged U.K. parents and children to do one outdoor-based activity a day, while schools were on half-term break (per Vanity Fair). Archie's love for the great outdoors, young though he may be, suggests that Meghan and Harry already have another gardener on their hands!

The youngest Mountbatten-Windsor seems to most closely resemble his father in looks, but he has his mother's temperament. According to Us Weekly, insiders close to the family believe that Archie is a burgeoning social butterfly who "loves being entertained and interacting with people. Some children get shy or nervous around new people, but not Archie. He'll go to anyone without kicking up a fuss!" For proof, just look at how the tot hammed it up for the family's 2019 Christmas card. Meghan and Harry didn't choose to share a photo the following year, but the greeting — which featured a sweet illustration inspired by a picture taken by Meghan's mother — once again showed Archie front and center.

Harry and Meghan are loving being home for Archie's many milestones

Archie may only be nearing his second birthday (in May 2021), but two years can be an eternity with a toddler. Essentially, these little people are growing and changing every day! Now that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have stepped down as working members of the royal family, they are able to see their baby boy's growth firsthand. In October 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared how much they have enjoyed being able to spend time at home amid lockdown and witness Archie's many milestones.

"It's just fantastic because I think in so many ways, we are fortunate to be able to have this time to watch him grow and in the absence of COVID, we would be travelling and working more externally, and we'd miss a lot of these moments," Meghan shared (via Cosmopolitan U.K.). "So I think it's been a lot of really good family time." Hopefully, Meghan and Harry are documenting Archie's early years — he will be all grown-up before we know it!
