All The Reasons We Saw Jennifer Lopez And Alex Rodriguez's Split Coming

Page Six reported on March 12, 2021 that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez had called off their engagement. According to the outlet, the couple had been "on the rocks" for an unspecified amount of time, reporting that both Lopez and Rodriguez have been working on their own projects. "He's now in Miami getting ready for baseball season, and she's filming her movie in the Dominican Republic," a source told Page Six. However, on March 13, 2021, the couple released a statement to People contradicting the Page Six report. "We are working through some things," they said, with a source explaining, "They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up."

J.Lo and Arod first started dating in 2017, and got engaged in March 2019. Over the past four years, they have blended their families; Lopez has two children with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, while Rodriguez has two kids with his ex-wife, Cynthia.

The couple has been plagued by rumors, though, and a split really wouldn't come as much of a surprise. We dive into all the reasons why after the jump.

Inside the Madison LeCroy cheating rumors

In early 2021, rumors that Alex Rodriguez cheated on Jennifer Lopez circulated online. The rumors heated up after part one of the Southern Charm reunion, with cast member Craig Conover making a bold claim about Madison LeCroy, saying that she "flew to Miami to f**k an ex-MLB player," according to Bravo. Conover didn't name any names and LeCroy was quick to deny the rumors, but Southern Charm's Danni Baird came out with some interesting tea. During a chat on the podcast Reality Life with Kate Casey, Baird alleged that the ex-MLB player was Rodriguez. "Months before [the reunion], I had heard ... [LeCroy] had told me they were FaceTiming or something," Baird said, according to the New York Post.

Though an insider confirmed to Page Six that Madison LeCroy was the "the reason they finally broke up," a separate source told People, "This was not caused by a third party. Madison [LeCroy] or anyone else. They are working through things."

Although LeCroy later clarified that her relationship with Rodriguez was platonic, there appeared to be more to the story. Southern Charm's Shep Rose chatted with Us Weekly in March 2020 and claimed that Rodriguez made LeCroy sign an NDA. "I know that there was, like, an NDA signed, which doesn't seem to mean anything anymore, not worth the price of the paper they're printed on," he told the outlet. Now that's interesting

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez cut back on the couple pics

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have not posted any photos or videos together in March 2021. In fact, the last photos the former couple posted together were at the end of February. On Feb. 27, Lopez took to Instagram to share three photos of her and Rodriguez, loving up on each other. "Feliz día de la independencia Dominicana," she captioned the photoset, tagging Arod, and adding the hashtag "Macho," which is what she often referred to him as. The first two photos showed Lopez cuddled up to Rodriguez, and the third photo showed them kissing.

On Feb. 28, Rodriguez posted a photo that appeared to have been taken on the same day; both ARod and J-Lo were wearing the same clothes. "Perfección en República Dominicana," he captioned the pic, which showed him standing behind JLo with his arm around her.

Although they looked very happy in all three snaps, social media doesn't always tell the whole story and you can't help but wonder why they've been so quiet.

Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez have postponed their wedding... twice

Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez have put off their wedding more than once due to the coronavirus pandemic. During a sit-down with Andy Cohen on his radio show back in December 2020, JLo explained that she wasn't in any kind of "rush" to walk down the aisle, for what would have been her fourth wedding. "I mean at our age, we've both been married before, it's like, do we get married? Do we not? What does it mean for us? And it's just, it comes down to like personal, like, what do you want to do? There's definitely no rush though," she told Cohen.

Flash forward two-and-a-half months, and Entertainment Tonight reported that J-Lo and ARod had been thinking about their wedding after all. "Jennifer and Alex are still planning on getting married," a source told the outlet, adding that Lopez "trusts him like no one else she has been with."

Jennifer Lopez has been engaged (and married) several times

Another reason why fans wouldn't be shocked by a split is Jennifer Lopez's relationship history. Lopez was previously engaged (and married) to Ojani Noa, but the two divorced in 1998, according to Showbiz CheatSheet. After a fling with P Diddy, Lopez got engaged to dancer Chris Judd. The two tied the knot, only to split two years later. From there, Lopez got engaged to actor Ben Affleck. In 2014, the two broke things off before exchanging vows. Later in 2014, Lopez found love with Marc Anthony, whom she married. The two — who still remain friends to this day — had twins Max and Emme together before splitting in 2011.

Lopez went on to date her back-up dancer, Casper "Beau" Smart. The two were together for five years, though they never got engaged. From there, Lopez linked up with ARod. According to People, JLo's emerald cut engagement ring is estimated to be between 11 and 15 carats, with a hefty price tag of $1 to $1.9 million. Alas, you know what they say... "money can't buy love."

Alex Rodriguez has played the field in more ways than one

Alex Rodriguez has been a bit of a playboy throughout the years himself. Following his split from his wife, Cynthia, in 2008, ARod filled up his dating-roster with several high-profile women. He reportedly was with Madonna (yes, that Madonna) for a few months after his divorce. Then in 2009, he dated Kate Hudson, before bouncing between blond actors and spending nearly two years with Cameron Diaz.

In 2011, ARod began seeing former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson. For a while, it appeared as though Rodriguez was all set to settle down. However, in 2015, Page Six reported that he and Wilson had called it quits. "Alex and Torrie would fight over his flirtations with other women, and he wasn't ready to settle down again," one source told the outlet. Before meeting — and getting engaged to — JLo, Rodriguez spent about a year dating Anne Wojcicki. In late 2017, when ARod was already dating JLo, Wojcicki's mom told The New York Times that Rodriguez "had no academic background. We couldn't have an intellectual conversation about anything." Ouch.

So what's next for Lopez and Rodriguez? Only time will tell.
