There's a lot that experts can tell us about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. For example, a real estate expert gave us a glimpse at what life is really like in the couple's Santa Barbara neighborhood, while a body language expert broke down what they saw from both Harry and Meghan during their March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Of course, there are also insiders who know a thing or two about the famous royal family members, including a photographer who worked with the prince for years (and made a pretty harsh claim about his demeanor and relationship with the press). And then there's Angela Levin, the author behind Harry: Conversations With the Prince.

"I interviewed Harry for when I was writing his biography," Levin told Us Weekly the same month that the highly-publicized and buzz-worthy interview with Oprah aired. The royal writer explained that when she spent time with Harry in the past, she "found him to be charismatic" and "sympathetic," while also "hav[ing] wonderful intuition, which he inherited from his mother [Princess Diana], and with a sort of mischievous glint in his eye. " Beyond that, Levin says that Harry "was full of energy and fun and bounce and quite macho."

However, things seem to be different these days, according to Levin. While the author acknowledged that Harry has dealt with serious issues in the past, she now thinks that he has changed in a seriously shocking way.

This royal biographer noticed drastic changes in Prince Harry

When royal biographer Angela Levin watched Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, she saw what every other viewer witnessed. However, she was also able to compare how the prince appeared in the more recent interview to how he had come off in the past. While claiming that it "was quite traumatic in a way" to see Harry as he was in the interview, Levin explained to Us Weekly that to her, "[h]e looked like a shell version of himself."

On top of that, Levin discussed the fact that Harry merely seemed like an "extra" who "came on quite late in the interview." She also felt like he came off as "anxious" and "looking nervy," not to mention the fact that she thinks he was "absolutely hating it." Levin added, "I felt incredibly sad that this is what has happened to him."

Granted, on the other hand, co-author of Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family Omid Scobie noted in September 2020 that Harry was "happier than ever" in his new life, according to Vanity Fair. So, who's to know which expert or insider we should really believe when it comes to how Harry is doing now that he's left his role as a senior working royal behind?
