The Real Reason Rebel Wilson Is Taking A Break From Social Media

Rebel Wilson has dazzled fans with her stunning selfies and healthy videos on social media, particularly throughout 2020 when she wowed her followers with her determination and dedication to bettering herself. In January 2020, the Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect actor declared the following 12 months "The Year of Health" on Instagram and shared that she was trying to get healthier by moving more and cutting out sugar and junk food. "Who's with me in making some positive changes this year?" she asked her followers alongside three beach photos.

Wilson kept social media well updated with her progress every step of the way, wowing fans as she became healthier in every way, which included impressive weight loss. She proudly showed off her new body in several stunning uploads, including a November 2020 body and mind positive Instagram post that showed her getting in some exercise in a black crop top and leggings.

It was 11 months after her initial declaration to live a healthier lifestyle when Wilson confirmed she'd hit her goal weight, with a whole month to spare. "Even though it's not about a weight number, it's about being healthy, I needed a tangible measurement to have as a goal and that was 75 kg's [around 165 pounds]," she wrote on her Instagram Story in November 2020 (via Entertainment Tonight).

Unfortunately, fans will have to do without Wilson's inspiring uploads for a little while. Read on to find out why.

Why Rebel Wilson is taking her focus off Instagram

On March 31, 2021, Rebel Wilson confirmed she wouldn't be so active on social media as she announced an Instagram break in a video posted to her account. The clip showed her on a rooftop in London with the London Eye lit up behind her as she explained that she was in the U.K. to film a new movie that would need all her attention for a while.

"Hey, hey, hey! Okay, so I'm gonna sign off for a bit because I'm filming a movie here in the U.K. that needs my full attention and it's a very different type of role for me, so I've really got to immerse myself in it," she explained. Wilson confirmed she would eventually return to social media, but didn't reveal exactly when or give any further updates on her new movie role.

However, the star did admit that she was going to "work [her] a**e off again" and teased that when she returned to Instagram she'd continue to post "hot selfies," before joking that an imaginary person off-screen wanted her to stop posting photos of herself. "That's what you do on Instagram," she jokingly hit back. We're already counting down the days until she's back blessing our timelines with her "hot selfies" and positive, healthy posts.
