Jeopardy Contestants Stun Aaron Rodgers After Embarrassing Whiff

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has had a blast during his two-week run hosting Jeopardy! He had some notable moments during this stint, and an especially comical one came during one of his final episodes.

As Jeopardy! viewers know, Rodgers was one of many people tapped for guest-hosting stints after iconic host Alex Trebek died in November 2020. As the NFL icon told The Ringer, he has loved the show for much of his life. "We would go to my grandma and grandpa's house, and their favorite thing was watching Jeopardy! I was 7 or 8 and I never had any idea what was going on really — I mean, I was not able to answer any questions," Rodgers detailed. "It was more just the experience of sitting around a TV after dinner and watching a trivia show."

Rodgers admitted that even after starting with the Packers, he'd frequently figure out when Jeopardy! aired and turn it on. He appeared on Celebrity Jeopardy! as a contestant in 2015, and he didn't exactly need to be convinced to host. When producers started putting together their roster of guest hosts, Rodgers' team put out some feelers. He did a lot of serious preparation for his hosting duties, and he's even said he'd love to stick around permanently.

"I'm not shy at all about saying I want the job," Rodgers admitted. So far, he at least has one very memorable moment under his belt.

Rodgers' reaction prompted awkward laughs

In a clip shared via the Jeopardy! site from the April 13, 2021 episode, Aaron Rodgers couldn't help but leave everybody chuckling during one awkward moment. It happened early in the game when contestant Dennis Chase picked the $400 spot from the "Title Waves" category. As Fox News explained, this pick was just the second clue of the game in this episode.

"In the 1960s these midwesterners earned 5 NFL Championship trophies," the clue teased.

After Rodgers read the clue, the three contestants stood stone-faced and clueless. None of the three hit the button with even a guess at the right answer. Rodgers couldn't help but make the most of this moment, given the answer. He spread his arms out to his sides and revealed that "Green Bay Packers" was the answer. He added a comical grimace and received a few chuckles as everybody realized that the correct answer had really been right in front of their eyes.

Chase chose the same category for the next clue and fellow contestant Erick Loh correctly answered with the Boston Celtics. Rodgers couldn't help himself, teasingly asking Loh "Oh, you know that one, huh?" This wasn't the first time that the Green Bay Packers star prompted some chuckles as he hosted Jeopardy!, but this one was an exceptionally fabulous moment.
