Carrie Underwood's Stunning ACMs Outfit Has Everyone Talking
The Academy of Country Music Awards aired on April 18, 2021, and saw a plethora of performances by country newcomers and superstars throughout Nashville. Dan + Shay, Eric Church, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Elle King, and Maren Morris were just a few of the iconic performers who graced the stages.
Of course, no ACM Awards would be complete without a performance by Carrie Underwood, 2020's ACM Awards Entertainer of the Year winner. In fact, Underwood seems to be a staple at the award show, having won 15 so far in her life, per the bio on her official website, including Entertainer of the Year three times. And this year's performance helped solidify why Underwood is one of the most decorated female artists in country music.
During the 56th annual ACM Awards, Underwood gave fans a peek at her new gospel album, My Savior. She performed a medley from her album alongside gospel icon CeCe Winans, starting off with an a capella version of "Amazing Grace" before transitioning into "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," per People. At that point, Winans joined her in singing the hymn. They then went into "The Old Rugged Cross" before Underwood finished out the medley with "How Great Thou Art," alongside a choir.
While Underwood's voice was utterly show-stopping, some on Twitter could not stop talking about her outfit.

Carrie Underwood brought the crowd to their feet for a standing ovation with her gospel medley, but before she even opened her mouth to start singing, fans were taking to social media to comment on her gorgeous outfit. Underwood looked absolutely breathtaking in a floor-length, beige gown adorned with rhinestones. Her understated makeup perfectly added to the look and her blonde waves were styled simply in a way that only accented her beautiful figure.
While overall she looked fantastic, some fans could not help commenting on her dress. "I think this is my favorite dress on Carrie Underwood," one fan wrote on Twitter. "Absolutely LOVED Carrie's dress," another user wrote, alongside a heart-eyed emoji. Others thought her dress was beautiful enough to work for another special occasion. "I need Carrie Underwood's dress for my wedding and I NEED IT NOW," they wrote, adding clapping emojis to their words.
While Underwood clearly impressed with her performance, there has been some controversy regarding her and the ACM Awards. For the first time since 2005, she was not nominated for female artist of the year, per People, a snub that had many people talking. Even though she was not nominated, however, she still brought her A-game, much to her fans' admiration.

This isn't the first time Carrie Underwood has worn an outfit that got people talking at the Academy of Country Music Awards. The CALIA by Carrie designer has been wowing fans with her fashion choices for over a decade.
The 2021 ACM Awards wasn't the first time she donned a sparkly stunner to one of country music's biggest nights either. Just five years earlier, at the 2016 ACM Awards, the "Drinking Alone" singer wore a sheer and beaded Davidson Zanine column gown, per PopSugar. The year before that, at the 2015 ACM Awards, the "Hallelujah" singer also donned another peek-a-boo style dress. She turned heads in a shimmery, see-through mini dress complete with a floor-length cape by Elie Madi, per Billboard.
The seven-time Grammy winner made Country Living's list of "The Most Stunning ACM Dresses of All Time" for her 2017 nude tulle gown with silver embellishments by La Bourjoisie, per RCFA.
Carrie Underwood frequently lands on the best dressed list
Carrie Underwood is no stranger to landing on best dressed lists whenever she hits the red carpet. At the 2020 Country Music Awards the "Blown Away" singer made Glamour's coveted best dressed list alongside 10 other attendees. She donned a one-shoulder, high-slit gown covered in sparkling stones by Yousef Aljasmi, per Footwear News.
The year prior, Underwood made E!'s best dressed list at the CMA Awards for her sheer, fitted gown adorned in gold embellishments by Elie Madi. Last year's ACM Entertainer of the Year winner didn't just dominate country music red carpets; Us Weekly added her 2019 American Music Awards look to their list of her best red carpet looks. The purple sequined gown she donned featured a high slit and revealed her perfectly toned leg. This jaw-dropping look also landed her on TODAY's AMA best dressed list.
