Jinger And Jeremy Vuolo Reveal Where They Stand With Jill And Derick

With the possible exception of the Kardashian-Jenners, few reality TV families have found themselves embroiled in as much familial scandal as the Duggars. For those that skew more E! than TLC, the Duggars are a family of fundamental Christians who made a name for themselves by basically just having a bunch of kids. They appeared on the long-running reality show 19 Kids and Counting, which provided a mainstream audience with a first-hand look at their unique approach to religion.

The Duggar's deep faith also involved many rules and expectations for their children. The girls in the Duggar family were expected to follow a strict dress code, only date in the presence of a male chaperone, and abstain from drinking and sex before marriage – and that's just the tip of the iceberg, per The Sun. Viewers were not only fascinated by their extreme devotion to their religion, but they also became deeply invested in the family's scandals, including allegations of abuse and Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's falling out with their daughter Jill.

Jill followed tradition and married relatively young but broke away from her family. She is still religious, but she no longer observes a dress code or abstains from alcohol, per People. These days, Jill doesn't see much of her parents or family anymore. In April 2021, though, her sister Jinger shared that there's hope for reconciliation.

Here's what we know.

Jinger and Jill are trying to work it out

Fans of 19 Kids and Counting were saddened to learn of Jill Duggar's falling out with her family. In March 2021, Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, posted a video in which they answered fan questions in March 2021. In response to a question about their relationship with their famous family, Jill confirmed that it had cooled significantly in recent years. She claimed they hadn't been to the family home in "years."

Just when it seemed like there was no hope, reconciliation might be just around the corner. "They're working through some things," Jinger Duggar's husband, Jeremy Vuolo, told Us Weekly in April 2021. The pastor added that he and his wife are still close to her estranged sister despite the separation. "There's going to be difficulties in every family [and] I think that's part of being in the public eye," he explained. "So many families go through different issues, especially as children are growing [up], and this family happens to be in the public spotlight. And so, they work through it."

Jinger told the outlet that she tries to stay close with her sister, despite the tension with her parents. The sisters make an effort to Facetime each other regularly so that their kids can get to know each other, while Jill sorts through her issues with the rest of the family.

Here's hoping Jill can find a way to balance her new life with her other siblings the way she has with Jinger.
