The Real Reason Angela Deem From 90 Day Fiance Was Once Arrested

TLC's 90 Day Fiancé is always good for a dose of drama, especially when it comes to fan-favorite Angela Deem. The American made waves on Seasons 2 and 3 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days with her now-husband, Michael Ilesanmi, who hails from Nigeria. Despite tying the knot in January 2020, the duo is still living apart while Michael waits to get his visa approved and it looks like the distance is putting a strain on their relationship. "I was definitely talking to the lawyer," she told Entertainment Tonight in an interview on April 19. "I said, 'I'm not gonna put up with this. If I put up with this with him all the way over there, what's it gonna be like here?'"

The tumultuous relationship makes for good TV, and as it turns out, Angela has also made waves off-screen and not for good reason. In fact, the reality star was previously arrested following a run-in with the law. Keep scrolling to find out why.

Angela was arrested for a DUI

Following Angela Deem's reality TV debut, the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star found herself in hot water after she was taken into police custody on Sept. 2, 2018. She was pulled over while driving in Montgomery County, Ga., and arrested on charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license on person, and speeding in excess of maximum limits, according to the booking report obtained by Us Weekly at the time.

Angela was initially pulled over after allegedly driving 60 miles per hour in an area with a 35 miles per hour speed limit. According to the report, the arresting officer smelled "a strong alcohol odor coming from inside the vehicle" upon approaching the car, which Angela claimed was coming from the backseat passenger who allegedly had been drinking, per Starcasm. Despite claiming she stopped drinking two hours before getting behind the wheel, she failed a field sobriety test and was arrested thereafter. The backseat passenger was then given the keys to the car after passing a sobriety test, while Angela claimed to fear the officer and allegedly called him racist. According to the outlet, Angela was released from police custody that same day after posting a cash bond.

Her arrest was shocking in itself, and she raised even more concern when she listed her marital status as "single" in her booking report. Hopefully, Angela has been trying to stay on the straight and narrow since.
