The Real Life Partners Of The Cast Of Blue Bloods

First premiering in 2010, "Blue Bloods" has been a fixture of the CBS schedule. The series follows the Reagans, a family of police officers based in New York City, as they navigate the ups and downs of their personal and professional lives. And you better believe there have been a lot of ups and downs.

One of the best parts of the CBS procedural are the Sunday family dinners. You can't watch even one episode without seeing the Reagans sit down every week together to partake in a yummy meal. Although a few members of the family have come and gone, the regulars show up laughing and arguing their way through their dinner.

What about their love lives on the show? Well, things haven't been quite as active in that area — with the exception of Jamie Reagan, who is happily married to fellow cop Eddie. Their love story is still thriving, but the other members of the family? Not so much. There is always hope that another Reagan will eventually get their game on and find that special someone. However, despite their character's lack of romance, the "Blue Bloods" actors are much better at love in real life. Take a look at the real life partners of your favorite stars of the CBS cop show.

Tom Selleck's love story began with Cats

It seems that Tom Selleck has a thing for cats. Not the furry kind — that we know of — but a gorgeous female of the human variety who performed in the musical Cats back in 1987. That is exactly how his love story began with his wife of 33 years, Jillie Mack. He told AARP in a 2015 interview that she "looked pretty good in a leotard." They later married in a secret ceremony and had a daughter named Hannah Selleck. He also has a son, Kevin Selleck, from his previous marriage to Jacqueline Ray.

"Blue Bloods" character New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan has been a mainstay on the series. His TV wife died of cancer when the show began, which obviously left a big hole in the character's heart; there seems to be very little time for a woman in Frank's life. However, in his own personal life, Tom Selleck has always carved out time for his loved ones.

As People noted, a ranch in Ventura, California has been a haven for the actor since 1988 — ever since he parted ways with "Magnum P.I." — to take a break from the limelight and spend more time with his family. As Mack shared with AARP, she wasn't totally on board with leaving Los Angeles for a house in the Santa Monica Mountains, but her outlook eventually changed. "It was such the wisdom of Tom," she said. "He knew he needed to buy back his anonymity, to replenish the soul."

Andy Cohen played a role in Donnie Wahlberg's romance

Unlike his Danny Reagan's dad's private relationship, actor Donnie Wahlberg has been pretty public about his romance with "The Masked Singer" star Jenny McCarthy. As Wahlberg shared on Instagram, he first crossed paths with his future wife on "Watch What Happens Live" in 2012. As the boy bander recounted, host Andy Cohen thought that the twosome would be great together, so he told Wahlberg to get with the program and ask her out. "I didn't," Wahlberg continued. "however, we'd meet again a year later at her talk show @vh1 @jennymccarthy Show and the rest, as they say, is history."

Walhberg, who came to fame as a member of New Kids on the Block, was previously wed to Kimberly Fey, but they ended up divorcing in 2010. They share two sons. When he married McCarthy in 2014, he became the stepfather to McCarthy's son from a prior marriage.

"Blue Bloods" fans were totally shocked in Season 8 when Danny's wife, Linda (Amy Carlson), had been killed off in a helicopter crash, leaving him with a broken heart and a single dad of two boys. He has since found it hard to give his heart to anyone else. It's a good thing that Donnie Wahlberg's love life is a little less complicated than Danny's.

A happily ever after for Bridget Moynahan

After her high-profile relationship with ex Tom Brady,"Blue Bloods" actor Bridget Moynahan has opted for more of a quiet life with New York businessman Andrew Frankel. Unlike her character of Erin Reagan, Moynahan has found her happily ever after. As People reported at the time, the couple married in a romantic ceremony at a New York vineyard in 2015.

The wedding planners told People that the couple was so set on keeping the nuptials under wraps, they only let a handful of guests know that a wedding was happening; evidently, many of the attendees believed they were going to a harvest moon celebration. Moynahan and Frankel got hitched shortly before the rest of the guests arrived and they all celebrated the happy surprise together. "Only family [including Moynahan's son John, 8, with ex Tom Brady] and a small number of close friends attended before the party," the planners shared.

On screen, Moynahan plays the role of Erin Reagan, who is divorced and raised her daughter Nicky as a single mom. Her romantic relationships have taken a back burner on the show, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be something in the cards eventually for her.

Will Estes' relationship status is a mystery

Will Estes, who plays the role of Jamie Reagan, is happily married to Eddie (Vanessa Ray) on "Blue Bloods." However, his real life status has been somewhat of a mystery. His latest romance was seemingly with "Chicago Med" star Torrey DeVitto in 2020. DeVitto went Instagram official with Estes in October of that year, according to People. The actor also shared a photo that he took with someone who may or may not have been DeVitto. However, those pics have since been deleted, and their relationship status remains a big ol' mystery.

Estes has been linked with a few other names you may have heard of. As Showbiz CheatSheet noted, there were reportedly rumblings of a romance with Jennifer Love Hewitt, as well as a rumored engagement to Rachel Boston. However, neither were not confirmed. As far as we can tell, Will Estes is single, but he could always be keeping things under wraps, too.

Marisa Ramirez is embracing her life as a single mom

Marisa Ramirez plays the role of tough cop Det. Maria Baez on "Blue Bloods," but in real life she has the best role of her life as mom to daughter Violet Rae. When she shared the news of her pregnancy with People in 2016, she was nothing short of thrilled. "This was a complete surprise," she told the outlet. "Some mornings I wake up and forget I'm pregnant! It just seems like it was meant to be — a happy surprise."

It appears that Ramirez is currently single, just like her on-screen character. Ramirez was previously married to Nathan Lavezoli, but they divorced in 2011.

On the show, Maria Baez has had a few on-screen flings, but nothing too steady. Fans are really hoping that she will hook up with Danny eventually, and the characters' relationship seems to be growing closer by the day.

Len Cariou dated two big stars before marrying his wife

While Frank's dad, Harry Reagan, is also a widower on "Blue Bloods," longtime actor Len Cariou has been happily married to former actor and accomplished author Heather Summerhayes since 1986 and they are still going strong. In a 2009 interview with Ask Wendy, Summerhayes opened up about life at home. "After writing, I do errands, catch up on email, make dinner and enjoy my husband's company," she said. "We eat out with friends once or twice a week. We love throwing dinner parties when we're home. And we have a few TV shows that are our guilty pleasures."

What you may not know is that Cariou has had relationships with two very well-known silver screen stars in the past. As Lauren Bacall shared in her book "Lauren Bacall by Myself" (via The Washington Post), she and Cariou had a little thing going when they starred in the Broadway production of "Applause" together. When CBS2 asked him in 2020 to share memories from working with her during that time, Cariou said, "Well, we became lovers when we were doing the show." That seemed to pretty much sum it up. And as The New York Times noted way back in 1982, Cariou lived with actor Glenn Close for a bit.

Vanessa Ray's wedding had a 'boho feel'

Vanessa Ray is blissfully married both on and off screen. Her "Blue Bloods" character, Officer Eddie Janko, is married to Officer Jamie Reagan." Her real life marriage to musician Landon Beard is just as blissful as her character's. As E! reported at the time, their June 2015 wedding in Pala, California seemed to mirror their fun and relaxed personalities, with a source calling it an "intimate and relaxed event with an eclectic, boho feel." The guests shook things up musically as they banged on tambourines at the start of the ceremony and then dined on Mexican food, including tacos and tamales.

The couple's proposal may not have been as warm as the wedding, but it was just as magical. Ray spilled the details to Hola, noting how cold it was the day Beard got down on one knee. "He convinced me to go for a walk to one of our favorite spots — Pier 84 — on the Hudson River in the freezing cold," she explained. It turned out beautifully, with the help of Ray's best friend, actor Kelly Sullivan, who videotaped the whole thing dressed up in a disguise.

Abigail Hawk married her best friend

"Blue Bloods" actor Abigail Hawk shares her first name "Blue Bloods" character Detective Abigail Baker, and that's not all the two have in common. Both happen to be successful women who are married. Not much is known about Baker's husband beyond the detail that he is a cop who previously survived a shooting. But Hawk has publicly gushed over her husband, Bryan Spies, who is a first responder.

In a special post for his 42nd birthday that she shared on Facebook, she called him her best friend and went on to share all the things that she admires about him. They have been married since 2009 and have two sons together. Hawk gave a little insight into her home life with her three guys in an interview she did with Starry Magazine. She explained how "normal" her family really is. "I'm a mom, I'm a wife, I'm a daughter and I have dogs who poop on the floor and chew up my shoes," she told the publication. "We don't have a nanny. My husband and I do everything ourselves."

Steve Schirripa's wife encouraged him to audition for The Sopranos

Steve Schirripa has taken on many different roles, including portraying Det. Anthony Abatemarco on "Blue Bloods." His character on the show is divorced, but in real life he has been happily married to Laura Lemos since 1989 and they have two daughters. His wife has been in his corner throughout his career, and as he shared with Esquire, she's the person who encouraged him to go to his callback for "The Sopranos." "I reluctantly came back, to be honest," he recalled. "My wife was the one that pushed me; she said you're only happy when you're doing this, go back. He got the role of Bobby Baccalieri on the iconic mob drama, and the rest is history, as they say.

In a 2018 interview with The New York Times, Schirripa dished on what a typical Sunday looks like at his house. He shared that his wife likes to go for a morning run, while the actor spends some time outdoors on his Sunday walks. Later in the day they get together to grab some lunch. Their evenings consist of heading to a local pork store to grab some items for dinner, which he said usually includes an antipasto salad. It sounds like these two know exactly how to relax at the end of a weekend.

Gregory Jbara won a Tony award with his wife by his side

On "Blue Bloods," Gregory Jbara plays the police commissioner's most trusted advisor, Garrett Moore. They sometimes butt heads, but the men both look up to each other. In real life, Gregory Jbara has been married to Julie Jbara since 1997. When Gregory won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor for his performance in "Billy Elliot the Musical" in 2009, he brought Julie up to the podium with him when it was time to accept his award. The actor told Broadway Buzz that having his wife by his side was the highlight of the evening for him.

Julie has her own career as well as a certified Parama BodyTalk practitioner. According to her Oasis Healing Center profile, her approach combines yoga, kinesiology, and psychology for a different kind of holistic healthcare. Gregory, Julie, and their two sons have made their home in Los Angeles, according to the actor's official website

Robert Clohessy and his wife seem to live a quiet life

Robert Clohessy has been playing the role of Sid Gormley since the beginning of "Blue Bloods." He started out as Danny Reagan's boss and is now one-third of Frank Reagan's advisors, alongside Baker and Garrett. In real life, he has been married to Catherine Erhardt since 1987, according to the actor's IMDb page. Their love story began at the same time that he got a recurring role on "Hill Street Blues" as Officer Patrick Flaherty. According to Main Street Magazine, the actor needed a place to stay as he was doing the show and his future spouse — who was working as an actor and model — was looking to rent her place out. That encounter led to over 30 years of marriage and two children together.

Sons Myles and Byron Clohessy have gone on to dip their toes in the show business waters, but that's not to say they lived a Hollywood lifestyle growing up. Rather, they settled in Connecticut and had, as Myles told The Register Citizen, "a fairly typical classic country upbringing."
