A Timeline Of Cara Delevingne's Relationships

Cara Delevingne has been very open and honest about her sexuality. The British model and actor has spoken openly on multiple occasions about how proud she is to be pansexual, and she certainly hasn't shied away from the dating game over the years. "I always will remain, I think, pansexual," Delevingne told Variety in June 2020, explaining that she's attracted to people of all genders. "However one defines themselves, whether it's 'they' or 'he' or 'she,' I fall in love with the person — and that's that. I'm attracted to the person."

Delevingne's clearly a catch and her dating life pretty much always seems to be in the headlines, so it's no surprise the star — whose acting credits include "Suicide Squad," "Carnival Row," and "Paper Towns" — has been linked to a slew of famous faces.

So, who has Delevingne really dated and when? And who hasn't she dated, contrary to what the rumor mill might tell you? Read on for a timeline of the star's reported romances.

Cara Delevingne reportedly 'hit it off' with Jake Bugg

Cara Delevingne hit the headlines for her dating life in late 2012 when it was reported she was dating British singer Jake Bugg. The model and the "Lightning Bolt" hitmaker were first spotted together at a party for Burberry, and a source alleged to The Sun (via Digital Spy) in February 2013 that they were "an item," adding, "They first met a couple of months ago at a party she was at with her best pal Rita Ora. They hit it off straight away."

A source dished on their supposed relationship to Grazia (via Daily Mail), claiming they were "in constant contact" and tried to meet up whenever they could. "They both want to see if the relationship will develop. [Delevingne] is really into [Bugg] and, though they're both very busy, they're trying to make it work," they added.

They appeared to keep things on the down low until The Mirror's Katie Hind wrote Delevingne ended things after five months. Hind's source said Bugg was "very upset" about the split and noted, "[Delevingne] is a great catch and lots of fun. She definitely won't have any trouble finding a replacement for him." The insider also suggested both were focusing on their careers and didn't get to spend a lot of time together. "[Delevingne] weighed things up and with [Bugg's] career taking off too, they didn't get to see a huge amount of one another anyway," they claimed.

Cara Delevingne may have inspired one of Rita Ora's songs

After her split with Jake Bugg, Cara Delevingne didn't waste too much time on the market. She reportedly got close with the person who introduced them, British singer and actor Rita Ora, who gushed about her. "She's officially mine. She's, like, untouchable. I've taken her off the market. We call each other 'wifey,'" Ora said of Delevingne in a February 2013 interview with The Sun, adding, "You know what a wifey means? It's like your other half. Like when you get married, like, that's your wife!"

In September 2013, the two hit a tattoo parlor in New York City and held hands as they got inked. Per Radar Online, Delevingne got her mom's name, Pandora, on her bicep, while Ora got a pinup girl on her ribcage. Speaking about their body art session, Ora told E! News of Delevingne, "She's hilarious. She's genuinely fun, one of my favorite people."

The two appeared to be so close that The Sun claimed in 2018 that Ora's hit "Girls," a song about bisexuality, was inspired by their apparent romance. Though neither appeared to speak about the nature of their relationship in interviews, a source claimed Ora decided to let her music do all the talking. They suggested she had "been honest with pals about what went on with her and [Delevingne]" and claimed "she was happy to discuss the model being the main influence behind the track" while recording it.

Cara Delevingne was reportedly chased by Harry Styles

Cara Delevingne was reported to have caught Harry Styles' eye in September 2013. Around the same time she was spending time with Rita Ora, E! News noted the One Direction singer had supposedly been seeing Delevingne for around two weeks. An insider suggested Styles had been "chasing" her "nonstop" because he "really likes her and has been saying that he wants to be exclusive."

But the model reportedly wasn't keen on the idea of being tied down. "She's a top girl and she's finding her feet right now. They are seeing each other though, casually, and are actually very cute together," E!'s source claimed. "Their friends think it could work out... He's really chasing her, but she's a really busy girl." The insider spoke out after Styles and Delevingne were spotted by fans taking in a show in London's West End, which looked very much like a date. That same month, the latter appeared to post a shot of them together on Instagram, with someone who looked very much like Styles rocking a black ski mask.

They always appeared to stop short of ever officially confirming they were an item, and Styles played coy when asked about her. When an MTV News U.K. reporter used the phrase "your girl Cara" in an interview, Styles teased, "She's not my girl! I know what you're doing."

Miley Cyrus almost kissed Cara Delevingne on Instagram

A few months after Cara Delevingne was supposedly being hotly pursued by Harry Styles, there was another A-List star hinting at a romance. Delevingne was linked to Miley Cyrus in December 2013 after Cyrus got people talking with a very suggestive social media upload.

The former "Hannah Montana" star posted a photo on Twitter of the two getting very close with their mouths wide open and tongues very close. They appeared to be sitting on a sofa with a rainbow spectrum of light over them, which was seemingly a nod to the LGBTQ+ community. "LOVE!!!!! We finally got the filmed developed Mush," Cyrus captioned the snap, tagging Delevingne and adding several rainbow emoji.

Though neither appeared to comment further on the status of their relationship in public, they were linked again in 2015 after it was alleged that Cyrus was looking to date the Victoria's Secret model, though it wasn't confirmed just how close they'd gotten before. "[Cyrus has] been getting close to [Delevingne] lately. They've known each other for a while but they're starting to get super tight. They have fun together," a source claimed to Hollywood Life of the rumored romance, adding, "[Cyrus] thinks she's super cool. She's a big fan of [Delevingne] right now."

Michelle Rodriguez canoodled with Cara Delevingne

One of her more public and rare officially confirmed romances, Cara Delevingne started dating Michelle Rodriguez in early 2014. Cosmopolitan reported the two were first romantically linked after they attended a basketball game in New York and were later spotted across the pond in London in March 2014, where they went to a Beyoncé concert together. Now that's a date night!

Proving they really were a truly international couple, they also enjoyed at least one tropical vacation. Us Weekly shared photos of the two at the beach in Mexico that same month, where they were snapped kissing and cuddling in the water and did nothing to hide their affections.

Speaking with The Mirror about their relationship, Rodriguez said things were "going really well" between them. "She's so cool. When we started hanging out, I just thought she was awesome, and we have the best time together," she gushed. "She's hard though. You wouldn't want to mess with her in a fight." A source also told the outlet that Delevingne invited Rodriguez to her sister's bachelorette party.

However, this one just wasn't meant to be. The two appeared to split in May 2014 after a source alleged to The Sun that Rodriguez didn't like her girlfriend "constantly being pictured with other female celebs" and wasn't the biggest fan of her party girl lifestyle. "[Rodriguez] isn't as interested as being in the limelight. She thinks they have different priorities," they claimed.

Cara Delevingne and Jack O'Connell got tongues wagging

It was October 2014 when Cara Delevingne appeared to hint she was more than just good friends with Jack O'Connell. As with many of her apparent romances, Delevingne kept things cryptic, but posted a photo of a man — thought to be the "Godless" and "Skins" actor — to her Instagram account that sure got a lot of buzz.

The snap, which is still up on the model's account as of May 2021, showed a close-up of some red marks on the neck of a man wearing a grey top. "Love bites," she wrote in the caption, adding the hashtag "#fittybum" and a red heart emoji. Daily Mail reported that fans did some serious sleuthing to find out who the unidentified man was and noticed that moles on his neck seemingly gave it away, though it seems that neither ever confirmed it publicly.

That same month, a source dished on the apparent romance to The Sun and noted they met on the set of the movie "Tulip Fever." An insider alleged they "get on really well" and their relationship was "casual," though the model was said to be a "big fan" of her co-star. "They've been on a few dates and been seeing each other quite often but it's not yet serious... They are both very busy all the time with work but they could make it work," said the source.

It was 'love' for Cara Delevingne and St. Vincent

Cara Delevingne was pretty open about her love for musician St. Vincent (whose real name is Annie Clarke). The two were first romantically linked in December 2014 when, per Grazia, Delevingne accompanied Clarke on tour. Their romance was all but confirmed when they showed some PDA at the BRIT Awards the following February. In a rare move, Delevingne publicly professed her feelings, saying during a July 2015 interview with Vogue, "I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I'm feeling so happy with who I am these days. And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle."

The two made a number of public appearances together and featured on each other's social media accounts, but things came to an end in September 2016. The Sun's source stated they still cared about one another, but the distance supposedly came between them. "They decided to call it a day but remain pals and are hoping they can work things out as it's no doubt they really love each other," the insider claimed.

The two really did seem to end things on good terms, as Clarke reacted to her ex calling her "one of the most naturally talented people [she's] ever met" in a 2018 The Telegraph interview. The musician said of Delevingne, "I'll love her for ever and ever."

A source alleged Cara Delevingne, Amber Heard, and Elon Musk had a thing

Cara Delevingne's name was dragged into court proceedings between Amber Heard and her former husband, Johnny Depp, in June 2020 when Daily Mail reported that Delevingne allegedly had a "three-way affair" with Heard and her then-beau Elon Musk. According to the site, a deposition from a friend and former neighbor alleged the trio "hooked up" at Depp's penthouse in Los Angeles in late 2016 after Heard and Depp had split. A source alleged the supposed rendezvous could have been important to Depp's court case with Heard and suggested that Delevingne could "be compelled to give evidence," adding, "It's definitely a possibility. Almost anything can happen in this case."

Daily Mail also obtained excerpts from the deposition in which Depp's legal team questioned the friend and former neighbor. At one point he was asked, "So they were having a three-way affair, correct?" to which he replied, "My understanding, yes." A source close to Musk told the Daily Mail the allegation was "a nonsense, a soap opera," and Musk himself denied the claims to Page Six, stating, "Cara and I are friends, but we've never been intimate. She would confirm this."

Rumors aside, Delevingne and Heard are good friends — so much so that the latter even designed a tattoo for the former. The two formed a friendship after working on the movie "London Fields" together, which was released in 2018.

Paris Jackson wasn't 'exclusive' with Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne also got cozy with the daughter of the late Michael Jackson, Paris Jackson. The latter appeared to first hint at a romance with the model in December 2017 when she took to her Instagram account to share an adorable photo of the two standing in front of a Christmas tree while holding white doves.

In March 2018, Daily Mail shared photos and video of the two kissing while out on what appeared to be a double date with Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song, after which an onlooker dished on their interaction to E! News. They claimed Delevingne and Paris "took turns stroking each other's backs" and even slow danced for a few minutes." The onlooker also told the outlet that some smooches happened. "They gave each other a long hug and Paris rested her head on Cara's shoulder. She looked like she didn't want to let go," they stated.

In June 2018, Paris Jackson shed a little light on their relationship on Twitter while shutting down a report claiming she was dating three women (Delevingne, Ashley Benson, and Caroline D'Amore) at the same time. "I've never met miss benzo. caroline is one of my bestest friends who is **straight** and **married**, and also the mother of my godchild," Paris tweeted. "Cara and i were never officially exclusive, you guys made that up."

Things got serious for Ashley Benson and Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne and actor Ashley Benson The two appeared to start dating in May 2018 when Benson posted a selfie of them on Instagram, but it wasn't until August 2018 that they packed on the PDA in public when Daily Mail shared photos of them kissing at the airport.

In April 2019, the two appeared to defend their romance while hitting back at an Instagram troll. Per BuzzFeed, the hateful comment urged the "Pretty Little Liars" star to leave Delevingne and date men. Benson told the person to "mind [their] own business," while Delevingne called them "f**king disgusting" and added, "If you have a problem with true love, then come and say this s*** to my face instead [of] pathetically hating through Instagram."

In June 2019, Us Weekly reported the two appeared to have moved in together. That same month, Delevingne seemed to spell things out with a video of them kissing on Instagram. Shortly after that clip went up, she told E! News she decided to post the clip in celebration of Pride and because it was around their one-year anniversary.

In August 2019, fans speculated the two got hitched after they were seen wearing gold bands, though a rep clarified to E! News that they were not legally married but had a "friendship ceremony." Despite several more outings together and appearance on social media, the relationship evidently came to an end in April 2020 when a source told People that their relationship "just ran its course."

Cara Delevingne and Margaret Qualley sparked rumors

When Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson split, a source claimed to People that she had been getting over the breakup by "spending time with friends" which included model Karia Gerber and sisters Rainey Qualley and Margaret Qualley. Cue the gossip mill.

In July 2020, Delevingne sparked romance rumors with Margaret when Daily Mail shared photos and video of them out for lunch in California, which inspired a whole lot of speculation about the nature of their relationship. The two shared a big hug and even appeared to share a peck through their masks. A month later, the former called the latter "cute" in an Instagram post alongside several photos of them together. Naturally, people took to the post's comments section to ask if sparks of the romantic variety were in the air.

The two don't appear to have spoken out about their relationship beyond their social media posts, so whether the duo's ever been anything other than platonic still remains to be seen.

A source claimed Halsey and Cara Delevingne hooked up

Rumors began swirling that Cara Delevingne and Halsey may potentially have gotten close in September 2020. The Sun alleged that the two had been "secretly hooking up," and the rumors came with some interesting timing. Though Delevingne and the "Without Me" singer never appeared to officially confirm their romance, the outlet claimed that things got romantic between them around the same time Delevingne's former girlfriend Ashley Benson was reported to have been dating Haley's ex, rapper G-Eazy.

"Cara has been hooking up with Halsey in the last few weeks and they've been having a laugh together," a source claimed to The Sun, suggesting that their supposed relationship was "very casual and just a bit of fun." The insider added that neither was apparently looking for anything serious and were both happy for each other to date other people. "They've both been very open about their sexuality and just want to enjoy themselves so they're both on the same wavelength."

The insider added that Delevingne and Halsey had supposedly kissed in front of their friends and noted that it was apparently "not a big deal... It's actually just funny to them that their exes are together now, and there's no hard feelings."

The two appeared to know each other for a while before the dating rumors started swirling, as Delevingne joined actor Suki Waterhouse and Blondie singer Debbie Harry in Halsey's music video for the song "Nightmare," which dropped in June 2019.

Jaden Smith gifted Cara Delevingne roses

In February 2021, Cara Delevingne appeared to celebrate Valentine's Day with none other than Jaden Smith. The two were snapped together looking very cozy on the most romantic night of the year, as Hollywood Life shared photos of the two embracing and even appearing to share a kiss on February 14 after Smith gifted the model a bouquet of red roses.

The site speculated that there seemed to be something "a little more serious than a simple friendship" going on between the two, though neither ever appeared to speak about the nature of their relationship publicly. The two had every reason to grow close though, as they co-starred together in the 2020 movie "Life In A Year" together.

As noted by PopSugar, Delevingne and Smith also appeared to be pals for a few years before the seemingly romantic photos surfaced, so whether this one was just friendship or something a little more is still anyone's guess.
