Casper Smart Talks Ex Jennifer Lopez: I Have Nothing But Love For Her

Beau "Casper" Smart is opening up about his past with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez–and the 29-year-old dancer has nothing but good things to say about his former flame.

At a Lay's Poppables event in New York City on March 16, 2017, Smart told Entertainment Tonight that today he and Lopez, 47, are friends and have "nothing but respect and love for each other."

The pair dated on and off for nearly five years before finally calling it quits in August 2016. Since their split, which seemed amicable at the time, rumors have circulated citing Smart's infidelity as cause for their breakup.

In recent months, however, Lopez has kept busy. When she's not promoting the second season of her NBC drama Shades of Blue (2016-), she's preparing for her upcoming Las Vegas residency, for which Smart is a creative director. And that's not to mention the mom of two's current romantic life. The Maid in Manhattan (2002) star was linked to Drake for a few months but has since been spotted cozying up to former Yankees player Alex Rodriguez.

When asked how he felt about the "Ain't Your Mama" singer's new relationship with Rodriguez, Smart answered, "I want nothing but the best and love [for Lopez]."

Smart echoed similar statements to Us Weekly. "Jennifer is, like, phenomenal, phenomenal, phenomenal," he said.

Smart, who's gearing up to star in the live TV production of Dirty Dancing (2017), even admitted that the pop star used to give him acting advice. "I would do creative direction for her shows and such, and I would bring my ideas and creativity to her world and to her music side and her performance side," he explained, "and she would definitely help me with the acting side as far as the training facility more."

Sounds like the two once had something good together.

Dirty Dancing is scheduled to premiere March 24, 2017.
