90 Day Fiance: HEA Strikes Back Season 2 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far
The TLC network is looking to saturate — yet somehow not exhaust — the market on awkward romantic relationships and reality television series, particularly in terms of their hit "90 Day Fiance," which has a whopping 18 spinoffs, according to TV Insider. The latest in its meta, ouroboros-like spinoffs is "90 Day Fiance: HEA Strikes Back!". This series is a spinoff to "90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?" — another spinoff that saw cameras check back in with the couples after their 90 days. In "Strikes Back," those same couples get to watch their own journeys in "Ever After" and comment on them, in a sort of American "Gogglebox" where the castmates are watching their own show.
In "Strikes Back," the "90-Day" cast gets the opportunity to respond to not only the Pillow Talkers but to social media viewers and to each other, all while also sharing behind-the-scenes tidbits. The favorite couples are back to talk about "HEA" Season 5, including Kalani Faagata and Aseulu Pulaa, Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet, Colt Johnson and Jess Caroline, and the outrageous Michael Ilesanmi and Angela Deem, the latter of whom shocked viewers by exposing her chest directly to the camera during the Season 6 Tell-All special. Ever since that shocker, fans have been wondering about Season 2 of this spinoff — likely wanting to hear what Angela has to say for herself. Keep reading and we'll tell you what we know about the new season.
The potential release date for HEA Strikes Back
According to Realscreen, Season 1 of "90 Day Fiance: HEA Strikes Back!" premiered on October 5, 2020, immediately following the Season 5 "90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?" finale on the same date. "Strikes Back" aired for 12 episodes, concluding with its finale on December 21, 2020, where some of the cast commented on the Season 5 "Happily Ever After?" Tell All.
Despite fans clamoring, no announcement has come from TLC yet about Season 2. As we enter into the fall season, however, it seems likely that an announcement could come soon, if the show returns. Then again, since the two-part Season 6 Tell All has aired already on August 15 and 22 and the new spinoff hasn't garnered the most positive comments, perhaps it won't be renewed. We'll have to wait to find out.
Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi aren't the only ones fans want to check in on. Since the Tell All revealed that Natalie Mordovtseva and Mike Youngquist may be heading for a divorce, per Us Weekly, fans are anxious to know where they stand as well. Their already rocky relationship seemed to progress in a worse way during the "Happily Ever After" Season 6, so fans would love to hear their take on it.
Who will be in the cast for HEA Strikes Back?
Speaking of the cast, there's plenty of drama to go around with the current cast, and fans want to know who will come back for a potential Season 2 of "90 Day Fiance: HEA Strikes Back!". In addition to the drama between Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi, and Natalie Mordovtseva and Mike Youngquist, there is also conflict between Tiffany Franco and Ronald Smith. (Of course! What good is any show if there's no conflict?)
Tiffany and Roland's relationship was also in the air, as Roland accused Tiffany of having an affair with a cameraman during the Tell All (per Us Weekly). They also said they might have already gotten divorced if they didn't have children together, though they admitted they still love each other.
Since a renewal announcement has yet to be made, no news is available about the "HEA Strikes Back" cast for Season 2, though it's a pretty safe bet that the same couples from Season 6 of "Happily Ever After?" will return. That includes the previously mentioned Angela and Michael, Natalie and Mike, and Tiffany and Ronald, as well as Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa, Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet, Yara Zaya and Jovi Dufren, and finally fan-favorites Julia Trubkina and Brandon Gibbs (per Screen Rant). It's also likely that members of the couple's families will return to kibitz and comment as well.
Is it time for new cast members?
While it seems likely that a Season 2 of "90 Day Fiance: HEA Strikes Back!" would follow the same couples shown in Season 6 of "Happily Ever After?" some have wondered if there needs to be some new blood in the HEA series. Screen Rant reported during "HEA" Season 6 that the show was "tanking with fans" and that audiences were growing tired of the Season 6 cast and the repeated plotlines. Fans called out nearly all the couples for drama that felt scripted and noticed how unhappy the couples seemed in their situations, as some pairs contemplated divorce. Fans are also disturbed by what they felt was the worsening quality of the series, especially given the behavior from Angela Deem and her graphic scenes.
It seems likely that at least two of the couples may no longer be, as Screen Rant also reported that Natalie Mordovtseva was seen filming with another man in Florida. Fans speculated that she was filming an episode for a different "90 Day" spinoff, "The Single Life." That is not confirmed, and there's no formal divorce filing between Natalie and her husband Mike Youngquist, but given their comments on the Tell All, they may have called it quits.
The Overtimer reports that Tiffany Franco and Ronald Smith may also be dunzo. In addition to their comments in the Tell All, Tiffany asked her social media followers for advice for finding an international divorce lawyer. Perhaps viewers may get their wish for new blood after all.
