What Olivia Munn Had To Say About Rumors She Had Plastic Surgery
At one point in time, Olivia Munn was every gamer's fantasy chick. With her undeniable radiance and quirky personality, Munn's career skyrocketed in 2006 as the co-host of G4's "Attack of the Show!" The popular television series, which centered around video games, pop culture, and technology, saw Munn co-host alongside Kevin Pereira for four years (from 2006 to 2010) before making a successful Hollywood transition in the years that followed.
As her run on "Attack of the Show!" came to a close, Munn was soon hired as a correspondent for Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" (per IMDb), where she worked until 2011. Since then, Munn has found herself bouncing through several television roles, including a recurring role on Fox's "New Girl" and a lead role on HBO's "The Newsroom" alongside Jeff Daniels, along with a number of Hollywood big-screen gigs.
Though Munn has found success on-screen, her life outside of Tinseltown has surely been mired in controversy. From a salacious (and alleged!) affair with Justin Timberlake, to a tumultuous relationship with Aaron Rodgers, Munn has not been safe from public scrutiny. And as is with many female actors, looks often become a prime target for the media — especially with accusations of plastic surgery being hurled at Munn (despite her clapping back). So, how exactly did Olivia Munn respond to these plastic surgery rumors? Read on to find out!
Olivia Munn cited her 'multi-ethnic' heritage in response to the plastic surgery rumors
In a 2016 interview with FASHION Magazine, Olivia Munn addressed the rumors of her plastic surgery woes and noted the "complications" that come along with being "multi-ethnic." "Being multi-ethnic―I'm half Chinese, half white―brings up a whole set of complications that people don't even think about when it comes to being photographed," she told the outlet. She then continued, stating, "I have more of a white appearance on the outside, but my bone structure is very much Asian."
Elaborating on her Asian commentary, Munn noted that she has "high cheekbones and smaller eyes" and "[w]hen you put shimmer on the inside of my eyes, I immediately look cross-eyed ... If you put too heavy of an eyelash on me, it looks like my eyes are halfway closed." On top of having to circumvent her heritage for tabloid scrutiny, there's also another target on her back: social media.
After sharing a picture of herself on Instagram, she noted that, "People were like, 'What did she do to her face?'" Munn then clarified that as an actor, she can "be completely transformative and take on different roles," but "[a]s an individual in the world, it's a totally different story." "We live in a time where there's so many pictures that bring so much scrutiny. When your face changes because of makeup, it's hard to let people know that you're not actually doing surgery or fillers," she emphasized.
Olivia Munn's diet plays an important role in her skincare routine
Did you know that Olivia Munn has a black belt in taekwondo? Given her highly athletic nature, Munn goes to extremely meticulous lengths to protect her health, wellbeing, and skin that many may not realize. Speaking to The Cut in 2016, Munn revealed she prioritizes special Japanese roots and sweet potatoes that are "high in hyaluronic acid" in her diet. Why, you ask?
"When you're younger, your body creates collagen, and as you get older, it doesn't produce as much," Munn prefaced. "You know when you wake up with a line on your face from a pillow? As you get older, those lines stay because we don't have a lot of hyaluronic acid," she added. Munn also made a salient point by noting, "The purpose of hyaluronic acid is to carry water to skin and prevent joints from getting rickety or hurting" and "[w]hen joints are lubricated, you don't get injured as much."
Munn later revealed that, prior to her potato-heavy diet, she would rub her pillow lines away with lotion. After a month of eating the potatoes, however, "the line would be gone as it was when I was younger." Ultimately, whether Olivia Munn got plastic surgery or not is debatable. And while not everybody may have access to these special Japanese potatoes, perhaps diligent dieting and a solid workout plan are all you need to maintain a healthy body and mind.
