What Christmas Event Is Kate Middleton Going To Host This Year?
Kate Middleton is stepping up!
On the heels of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's famous Megxit Sussexit and with Queen Elizabeth's platinum jubilee quickly approaching, Prince William and Kate Middleton have stepped up to the plate and taken on several new roles in an effort to fill some of the gaps and further establish themselves as second in line of the monarchy. "We're in a period of what can be called a soft regency, in effect the Queen is standing back, not doing many roles. The roles that she is doing are being accompanied by Prince Charles, everyone is being prepared for Charles and Camilla. As a result, William and Kate, who seem to be very popular, are stepping into the position that Charles and Camilla had. Because they are, I would say almost more popular than Charles and Camilla, they've probably been given a higher role," British biographer Andrew Lownie told Express regarding the royal duties shake-up.
But don't worry... it's not all work and no play for the Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate Middleton is hosting her very own Christmas carol service
Hostess with the mostess!
Kate Middleton is gearing up to host her very own Westminster Abbey carol service on December 8 in honor of the "unsung heroes" who have worked tirelessly during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The duchess took to her Kensington Royal Twitter account on November 30 to announce the holiday gathering. "This Christmas we are celebrating the incredible work of individuals and organisations across the nation who go above and beyond to support their communities," the Duchess of Cambridge penned in a tweet, along with a sneak preview of the invitation.
Per the Daily Mail, the event was initially set to air on BBC, but following the release of the controversial "The Princes and the Press" documentary series, Kate has opted to go with a different broadcaster: ITV. "It was all arranged to be on BBC1 but it was switched in the last few days because of the terrible row over the documentary," a source divulged. Perhaps, an event like this is exactly what everyone needs right now in order to put their differences aside.
