Things You Didn't Know About The Rock's Wife Lauren Hashian

Lauren Hashian began dating pro wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in 2007. The happy couple have since welcomed two adorable kiddos and finally tied the knot in August 2019. But to this day, very little is known about Hashian. The newlyweds have long kept an exceptionally low profile and, as PopSugar pointed out, Hashian rarely steps into the spotlight, only occasionally accompanying her man to red carpets and promotional engagements.

What we do know about this beauty is that she was born on September 8, 1984, in Lynnfield, Mass., and that she and her famous husband seem to be as happy as ever. "Dear [my man], every day.. every single day I wake up grateful," she wrote in part in a sweet Instagram post celebrating Johnson's birthday in May 2019. "Smiling, laughing at something you said, or something that's happening in our now very busy home ... You inspire me. You have the GREATEST heart (and the greatest vocabulary) of anyone I know. And g*d d**n do I love you."

Ready to learn more? Cool. 'Cause we're about to dish on all the things you didn't know about The Rock's wife, Lauren Hashian.

Lauren Hashian's dad was a respected rock 'n' roll drummer

Lauren Hashian comes from well-respected rock 'n' roll heritage. Her dad, John "Sib" Hashian, was the drummer for rock band Boston in the late '70s. He initially replaced the band's original drummer, Jim Masdea, in 1975 at the request of Epic Records and went on to play on Boston's 1976 self-titled debut, as well as their follow-up album. However, come the mid-1980s, he got the boot and was replaced by none other than original drummer Jim Masdea.

Sib Hashian died in March 2017 while doing what he loved most: playing music. While on the Legends of Rock Cruise with ex-Boston member Barry Goudreau, he collapsed and passed away. He was 67. As the band wrote on Facebook, "Sib's high-energy drumming on the early BOSTON albums and tours leaves a legacy that will be remembered by millions."

The Rock also shared his thoughts on Sib Hashian's "poetic" passing on Instagram, posting a sweet family photo and writing: "Being on stage, in front of adoring fans, friends and family. Keeping the beat one last time. Your passing in this manner is extremely poetic and somehow beautiful. Thank you for the many life lessons you've taught over the years. Grateful. We love you Sib. We miss you."

The Rock's wife is a singer-songwriter herself

Taking a cue from her rock star dad, Lauren Hashian decided to pursue a musical career as both a singer and a songwriter, but rather than focusing on rock 'n' roll, it was hip-hop that stole her heart. However, she hasn't had great commercial success, and browsing her SoundCloud page reveals just three tracks.

Hashian's first single, "Go Hard," was released in December 2016 and got its very own music video the following May. Performed by rapper Walter French, the track features a chorus from Hashian and was written by the pair with help from three other composers. The clip has since received just over 82,000 views. Hashian later released "Samson" alongside Naz Tokio in September 2018.

Hashian built her own recording studio in college

When she was just 19 years old, Lauren Hashian built her very own recording studio, so she could begin pursuing her true passion: music. As she reminisced on Instagram alongside a snap of herself and an old friend, "This was such a cool throwback turning point for a 19 year old's life. Dana was soo unbelievably talented and we flipped our dorms into a recording studio!"

"We probably should've been focused on homework and essays, but making music was an outlet that made us feel good and creative and alive!" Hashian continued. "I didn't know you could make your own music at home until meeting him and this collective of rappers and musicians from Brooklyn. Now everybody makes music at home! I also didn't know you could make a career out of it."

Even though it was her first foray into music, it received great accolades. "We submitted our music professionally to the EVVYS and won the award that year," Hashian concluded. "It's a good feeling as a kid when someone acknowledges your work! It wasn't my major or degree but meeting young like-minded musician friends and creating music together was the best thing I got out of Emerson College."

Lauren Hashian was a contestant on TLC's 'R U the Girl'

Some may recognize Lauren Hashian from her appearance on the 2005 reality competition show R U the Girl, which was hosted by none other than TLC's Chilli and T-Boz. The premise of the series was simple: "Discover one lucky and talented female performer who will join them in an upcoming concert and record with them in the studio."

As described by producers, the show put "aspiring performers through a rigorous series of challenges where they will be testing, judging and eliminating the potential artists to find the one who might just be the perfect fit." One of those reality TV performers was The Rock's soon-to-be girlfriend and future wife. Although she made the cut as a finalist, Hashian unfortunately didn't take home the grand prize.

Some believe she broke up The Rock's first marriage

Lauren Hashian first met The Rock in 2006 when he was filming The Game Plan in her hometown of Boston. At the time, the movie star was married to his longtime manager, Dany Garcia, with whom he had one daughter, Simone Alexandra Johnson.

When the couple called it quits in 2007, and the paparazzi began spotting Dwayne Johnson spending more time with Hashian, rumors started flying. Many were left wondering if Hashian and The Rock's blooming affection for one another was the real reason behind the actor's split from Garcia.

Although neither he nor Hashian have ever addressed the rumors, Johnson did open up about his relationship with Hashian (something he rarely does) in a 2014 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, revealing: "She embraced and loved me at my very worst and lifted me up to be my very best."

Lauren Hashian was with The Rock when he learned of Paul Walker's death

When news first broke that The Rock's The Fast and the Furious co-star, Paul Walker, had died in a freak car accident, Hashian was by her beau's side, ready to support him through the heartbreaking discovery.

"I was driving with Lauren when she immediately turned very quiet and was looking at me, studying, wondering if I knew," Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter in June 2014, recalling the sad day when Walker and his business partner, Roger Rodas, who was driving, crashed into a tree on their way to a charity event and lost their lives.

"I pulled over and looked at my messages and had a moment where I just caught my breath," The Rock continued. "We said a prayer right then to give his daughter strength — because we had talked about our daughters. Then once we got home, we started bawling."

The Rock's wife plays an important role in his ongoing success

During a 2015 interview with Esquire in which The Rock was asked to talk about achieving and maintaining success, as well as striking the right work-home balance, Lauren Hashian got a very special shout-out from her man.

"I've lived with my longtime girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, going on, like, eight, nine years now," he said of his then-girlfriend, now-wife. "We spend a lot of time with my daughter in Florida, Simone, who's 13. We do these stories and we talk so much about the business end, the success end, but then Lauren isn't mentioned and my daughter isn't mentioned. I always like making sure we find the balance and my home life is in there and Lauren Hashian is in there and my daughter is in there."

Lauren Hashian is a huge fan of The Beatles

There's no denying the fact that The Beatles have had an everlasting impact on music and on the lives of millions around the world. But not all Beatles fans are created equal and, as it turns out, Lauren Hashian may just be one of the most devoted. Why? Because The Rock's future wife once traveled all the way to London just to walk in their footsteps. And because she has a very special family connection to the legendary foursome from Liverpool.

In a throwback snap posted to Instagram, Hashian shared a touching story about flying to London's Abbey Road with her cousin to take "the same picture our fathers did more than 3 decades prior." She explained, "They were huge fans of the Beatles and we are too thanks to the Dads instilling the Beatles (as less a band, and more a way of life) inside us from when we were teeny babes. Any child of a Beatles fan knows what I'm saying! Love you Brad & Dad." Too sweet!

Beyoncé is her No. 1 source of musical inspiration

Who doesn't love Beyoncé? Queen Bey has sold over millions of records and continues to inspire girls and women around the world, including one Lauren Hashian. While attending the 2016 Formation World Tour at the Marlins Stadium in Miami, the proud member of the Beyhive took to Instagram to share a short video from the concert and open up about her love for the superstar diva.

"This woman is bold and beautiful!!!" Hashian gushed to her followers. "And has truly been my greatest music inspiration for almost 20 YEARS now. You know how to put on a show girl!!! Will always go down as one of the greatest concerts ever and THE greatest female entertainer of my lifetime... Thank you!!!"

Lauren Hashian's not into social media at all

Lauren Hashian may be fairly active on Instagram, but despite living in Hollywood, being married to one of the biggest actors in the business, and working on her own musical career, it's pretty clear that she's not a huge fan of social media.

Rather than using social channels to promote her work, Hashian has walked away from Facebook and Twitter altogether. Her official Facebook artist page shows that her last post was made on October 4, 2016, letting fans know that "more updates and current info" would be posted to Instagram moving forward. Meanwhile, her Twitter page has barely been touched since December 13, 2016, when she retweeted a music video from the Foo Fighters with the caption "Hahah I've got goosebumps.. #masterpiece."

The Rock's wife has a great sense of humor

The Rock and Lauren Hashian have been together for over a decade. Their daughter, Jasmine, was born just a few days before Christmas Day in 2015, while daughter Tiana Gia arrived happily in April 2018. If you're wondering how they've made it work for so long, don't worry, you're not alone! And, as it turns out, one of the keys to their successful relationship is humor.

When The Rock was crowned 2016's Sexiest Man Alive by People, he sat down with the mag for an interview that included plenty of talk about Hashian. After declaring that the duo has "the greatest relationship," he went on to reveal that their happy partnership has a lot to do with being able to laugh and joke all the time. "First of all, she teases me about everything. Everything," he confessed. "Nothing is off limits in our house. And it's the beauty of it. And I tease her with everything."

Lauren Hashian keeps it very real as a mom

Lauren Hashian is a very proud mama of two, but more importantly, she's a very real mama. Hashian took to Instagram in January 2019 to show off the realities of motherhood with a photo taken in her daughters' playroom, in which she's holding up an 8-month-old Tiana on her back while watching 3-year-old Jasmine play.

"I know we often like to post the most glamorous moments and stick to those! But this is truly as real as it gets," she captioned the pic. "Sometimes if I'm only holding one of the girls, the other will cry until I hold her too. So usually I'm carrying 50 pounds of adorable-ness down streets, up stairs, you name it!" Getting even more candid from there, Hashian confessed, "Sometimes I don't even remember the last time I washed my hair." Noting that it can be hard to make time for yourself when you're busy raising a family, she concluded, "This is just to say I think we are all more alike than we think — and this is just the reality of life and trying to raise two babies and find balance."

The Rock and Hashian's wedding was straight out of a dream

Despite declaring that he was in no rush to marry Lauren Hashian in July 2018, Dwayne Johnson and his longtime girlfriend finally walked down the aisle in August 2019 in a wedding that was straight out of a dream.

After 13 years of friendship, courtship, and pure love, the happy couple chose to make it official in the actor-athlete's native Hawaii, surrounded by family and nature. While the groom looked dapper in an all-white ensemble complete with a lush fresh lei of white flowers and bright green leaves, his bride looked gorgeous in a beautifully embroidered curve-hugging gown from Mira Zwillinger. As Us Weekly learned, the dress retailed for $12,540, was made of tulle with a Chantilly lace overlay, and featured a statement-making open back.

The Rock broke the surprise wedding news on Instagram, sharing two picture-perfect snaps of the pair atop a hill by the water. "We do," he simply wrote in the caption. "August 18th, 2019. Hawaii. Pōmaikaʻi (blessed)."
