How Tall Is Beyonce?

As one of the world's most recognizable stars, it's easy to hear or see Beyoncé's impact today. As a global superstar, Beyoncé's fabulous appearance is as famous as she is. People named her the World's Most Beautiful Woman in 2012, just after the birth of her first daughter, Blue Ivy. "I feel more beautiful than I've ever felt because I've given birth," she said of the title. "I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this Earth."

The "Single Ladies" hitmaker was runner-up for the honor again in 2018 — but not from People. A British cosmetic surgeon told the Daily Mail that Beyoncé was a "close second" to model Bella Hadid based on the "Golden Ratio of Beauty," the ancient Greeks' scientific formula of perfection. The seemingly random award system ticked off members of the Beyhive, who campaigned on Twitter for the performer to take the top spot, per Oprah Daily. Regardless of who holds the crown, fans want to know everything there is to know about Beyoncé's beauty, including the small details. So, how tall is Beyoncé?

Beyoncé is 5 feet 7 inches

Though Beyoncé may seem larger than life, she stands at about 5 feet 7 inches tall, according to Capital Xtra. Beyoncé's height makes her about four inches taller than the average adult American woman, while still several inches shorter than her husband Jay-Z, who stands at 6 feet 2 inches, according to The Sun.

While it's true Beyoncé's high heels make her appear taller, it's her power stance on stage that captivates audiences' attention. Harvard social psychologist Amy Cuddy gave the wildly popular TED talk, "Your Body Language May Shape Who You Are," and swore by Beyoncé's signature Wonder Woman pose in her speech. Cuddy suggests emulating the hands-on-hips power stance before entering a stressful situation. "Our bodies change our minds ... and our minds can change our behavior ... and our behavior changes our outcomes," she shared.

While Beyoncé's power stance may be indicative of her strength as a woman, entertainer, and mother, the star admits she isn't perfect. "It's not about perfection," Beyoncé told Elle in 2016. "It's about purpose." She continued, "Women have to take the time to focus on our mental health — take time for self, for the spiritual, without feeling guilty or selfish. The world will see you the way you see you, and treat you the way you treat yourself."

Beyoncé had body image issues

Beyoncé's message of body positivity is one that took time to cultivate. "I've been through hell and back, and I'm grateful for every scar," Beyoncé reflected on her career in a 2018 interview with Vogue. "Through it all I have learned to laugh and cry and grow. I look at the woman I was in my 20s and I see a young lady growing into confidence but intent on pleasing everyone around her. I now feel so much more beautiful, so much sexier, so much more interesting," she said. "And so much more powerful."

Beyoncé has divulged some of her struggles with body image in her music, including the song "Pretty Hurts," which includes the lyrics, "We shine the light on whatever's worst / Perfection is a disease of a nation," per Genius. The "Black Parade" hitmaker admitted in her cover story with Harper's Bazaar in 2021 she "spent too much time on diets" in her past, "with the misconception that self-care meant exercising and being overly conscious of my body." The star shared she's now much more focused on her overall health and how she's feeling. "Your body tells you everything you need to know," she said, "but I've had to learn to listen." As the queen of the Beyhive, Beyoncé continues to lead by example.
