The Truth About Jesse Williams' Relationship With Minka Kelly
Minka Kelly has dated a lot of famous men throughout the years, including Chris Evans, John Meyer, and Derek Jeter. Though the "Friday Night Lights" actress is currently in a relationship with Trevor Noah, her former relationship with "Grey's Anatomy" star Jesse Williams still has people talking. The pair were linked in 2017, a few months after Williams left his wife of five years, Aryn Drake-Lee. Per USA Today, Williams and Lee met when he was a teacher in New York and dated for five years before getting married in 2012. They share two children, Maceo and Sadie (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet).
Shortly after the couple announced their split, Kelly was rumored to have been the third party in their relationship after TMZ reported they were spotted out on dates while filming for a video game in Paris. Kelly denied having anything to do with Williams' decision to divorce, clearing up the rumors in an Instagram comment (via E! News).
Williams also denied cheating rumors during an appearance on Jay-Z's "Footnotes for 4:44." "I was in a relationship 13 years," he explained (via Essence), "...all of a sudden mother f**kers are writing think-pieces that I somehow threw a 13-year relationship — like the most painful experience I've had in my life like with a person I've loved with all of my heart — that I threw a person and my family in the trash because a girl I work with is cute."
So, what exactly happened between them?
Jesse Williams and Minka Kelly had a brief relationship
Despite their denials, Jesse Williams and Minka Kelly dated for over a year after the "Grey's Anatomy" star filed for divorce. Sources revealed to Us Weekly that the photogenic actors were "legit," after they were spotted out on movie dates. However, their relationship ended just as fast as when they got together, with People reporting they broke up in January 2018.
Though Williams and Kelly broke up, he had to deal with a contentious divorce brought on by his ex Aryn Drake-Lee. Lee accused Williams of being a reckless and irresponsible parent by posting pictures of their kids on social media, according to TMZ. Williams denied the claims, countering that Lee was the one keeping their children away from him. The exes eventually agreed to joint custody in their divorce in October 2020 and Williams was ordered to pay $40,000 in child support per month, according to People. However, it seems as though both parties are still at odds with each other over custody arrangements. TMZ reported that Williams and Lee were ordered by a judge to participate in an online program for "high conflict parents," in April 2021.
Meanwhile, Kelly has been in a low profile relationship with comedian Trevor Noah — and it's remarkably less dramatic than when she was with Williams.
Minka Kelly and Trevor Noah are going strong in their relationship
As fans may recall, Minka Kelly and Trevor Noah were confirmed to be dating in summer 2020. At the time, a source told People that they are "in a very serious relationship." Meanwhile, E! News reported the two got to know each other really well after moving in with each other during the height of the New York City lockdowns, where Noah was filming for "The Daily Show." However, Kelly and Noah hit a rough patch in May 2021 when they briefly split up, according to Us Weekly.
The pair rekindled their romance a month later after they were spotted vacationing with each other in St. Barts. In December 2021, Noah and Kelly went Instagram official after the comedian posted a picture of her with his friends on the platform. A source told Entertainment Tonight that the two are going strong in their relationship. "Trevor and Minka's relationship is going really well right now," the source said. "They are in a good place and have a lot of love for each other. They have developed a solid foundation and trust one another, which has been helpful as they have been rekindling things."
Here's hoping Kelly has found her happily ever after with Noah!
