Here's How Much Older Bruce Willis Is Than His Wife Emma Heming

Bruce Willis started his career in the '80s as the charming lead man in the TV series, "Moonlighting." The actor showed he was able to captivate audiences as a chiseled action star with his breakout film role in the 1988 movie, "Die Hard." This turned Willis into one of the most popular stars of the era and he continued his prolific career in the decades that followed. In 2021 alone, Willis was in eight different movies, per IMDb. After his many memorable roles in films like "Pulp Fiction," "The Sixth Sense," and "Armageddon," the actor has been a mainstay in entertainment both with his roles and his personal life.

Before "Die Hard," Willis was already a media favorite for his relationship with Demi Moore. The two married in 1987 following a whirlwind romance. According to Entertainment Tonight, Willis and Moore had met each other just four months prior to their nuptials at the movie premiere for "Stakeout." After having three daughters together — Rumer, Scout, and Talullah — Willis and Moore were divorced by the new millennium. Moore famously moved on to marry Ashton Kutcher, while Willis linked up with model Emma Heming. Willis and Heming tied the knot in 2009 at the actor's house in the Caribbean, Us Weekly reported. Since their marriage has stood the test of time over the last decade, it's easy for fans to forget how much older Willis is than Heming.

Bruce Willis reveals how he met the younger Emma Heming

Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955 in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, since his father was stationed there as a member of the U.S. military. The family then moved back to America in 1957, settling in New Jersey, per Biography. Emma Heming was also born abroad, hailing from the tiny country Malta as the daughter of her Guyanese mom and English dad. After briefly living in London, Heming and her mom moved to Southern California, per Heming's website. She was born on June 18, 1978, according to IMDb, making Heming significantly younger than Willis. Their 23-year age difference may be a little strange when you realize that Heming was 10 years old when the first "Die Hard" movie came out. However, it's less weird in the context of plenty of other famous couples with big age gaps. For example, Willis' ex Demi Moore is 15 years older than her ex-husband Ashton Kutcher.

The meet-cute of Willis and Heming came during a low period in the actor's life. After his divorce, Willis dated various models with seemingly no intention of a lifetime connection and reportedly said he would never marry again, per W Magazine. That is, until he spotted Heming at the gym in 2005 because they both used celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson. Willis admitted to W Magazine his flings left him mostly unhappy until "I started hanging around Emma, and on a day-to-day basis my life became much happier."

Inside Bruce Willis and Emma Heming's relationship

Beyond spending time together as a couple, Bruce Willis also welcomed Emma Heming into his family life, spending time with his three daughters, Demi Moore, and Ashton Kutcher. "We've become like a tribe," Willis told W Magazine in 2009. "Demi and I made a choice to put the kids first, and we're really lucky that it turns out we all have fun together." Growing the family even more, Willis and Heming had two daughters together, Mabel and Evelyn, per People. Willis, Heming, and Moore's blended family continues to spend time together, as evidenced by Heming's posts on Instagram of their tribe.

As for their careers, Heming appeared in the 2013 film "RED 2" alongside Willis, per IMDb. She is most famous for her work as a model, having walked the runway for some of the biggest names in fashion like Chanel, Dior, and Victoria's Secret, according to her website. In addition to her acting credentials and an impressive modeling career, Heming became an entrepreneur when she launched CocoBaba, a skincare company touting coconut oil as a primary ingredient.

Willis continued entertaining in Hollywood until devastating health news forced him to step away from acting. In March, Willis' family revealed that he was diagnosed with aphasia. Amid Willis' recent health challenges, Heming told The Bump she is grateful for her family, sharing, "We just love spending time with each other and we know that time is precious, and I don't take that for granted."
