Charlie Sheen Sues Tabloid Over Corey Haim Rape Allegations
The former Two and a Half Men star is suing over recent allegations.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Charlie Sheen filed a defamation and false light lawsuit against the National Enquirer, as well as the tabloid's editor-in-chief Dylan Howard and actor Dominick Brascia, on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017.
As Nicki Swift previously reported, the gossip rag published an article last month accusing Sheen of raping the late Corey Haim while the two were filming Lucas in 1986. At the time of the alleged incident, Sheen would have been 19, while Haim was 13.
The piece detailed "dozens" of sources, including Brascia, who was friends with Haim. He went on record saying, "[Haim] told me they smoked pot and had sex. He said they had anal sex. Haim said after it happened, Sheen became very cold and rejected him. When Corey wanted to fool around again, Charlie was not interested."
Sheen later categorically denied the disturbing allegations.
ET obtained court documents in which Sheen's attorney claimed that Howard decided to run the story "because of a personal vendetta that arose after he was unable to be the first to break the story that Mr. Sheen was HIV positive." The actor's lawyers also accused Brascia of not being a "reliable source nor credible." The legal team went on to state that "Haim's own mother has publicly and categorically denied that any sort of sexual rendezvous occurred" between her son and Sheen.
Sheen himself released a statement to TMZ after filing the lawsuit. "In my nearly 35 years as a celebrated entertainer, I have been nothing shy of a forthright, noble and valiant courier of the truth," the 52-year-old said. "Consistently admitting and owning a laundry list of shortcomings, wrongdoings and indiscretions this traveler hath traveled — however, every man has a breaking point."
"These radically groundless and unfounded allegations end now," Sheen continued. "I now take a passionate stand against those who wish to even entertain the sick and twisted lies against me. GAME OVER."
