  • In 1996, Helen became the online editor and one of the first female editorial staff members at Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine.
  • While working for the Chicago Tribune's syndicated arm, she edited the soap opera listings for The New York Times, began a biweekly animation column published in TV guides across the U.S., visited the sets of numerous Chicago-based television productions, and covered the Television Critics Association press tour.
  • Of the many interviews she's done with actors and celebrities, her favorites were with Ernest Borgnine, Joseph Campanella, Leonard Nimoy, Richard Hatch, Lorraine Bracco, and Claudia Christian.


Helen has been a professional entertainment and lifestyle writer for almost three decades. Her editing and writing credits include online publications like Scripps News, GameSpot, The Mommy Gamers, The Learned Fangirl, and The FreeTV Project. She has also been featured in numerous print magazines and contributed to several books, including The Unofficial Hogwarts for the Holidays cookbook from 2020. She has written for Looper since 2020.


Helen graduated from Wellesley College with a B.A. in political science. She also has one master's degree in journalism from Columbia University and a second one in conservation biology from Miami University.
