Celebs Who Can't Stand Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian: Today, you can't really go anywhere or do anything without hearing the name. As one of the most famous women in the world, Kardashian has not only amassed a large enough fanbase to sustain a successful career in the public eye, but she's also attracted a few haters.
It's not just average, non-famous people who've amassed a distaste for the Kardashian sister. She's earned a few Hollywood haters as well — and she knows it. In fact, as the true businesswoman she is, Kardashian figured out a way to turn the hate into profit. In February 2018, Kardashian unveiled three new Valentine's Day-inspired fragrances with a social media post showing who would receive each complimentary fragrance. Most recipients, like Kylie Jenner for example, made sense, but true Kim fans knew one column was super tongue-in-cheek. It included people like Taylor Swift and Piers Morgan, who haven't been shy about their dislike for Kardashian.
So what other celebs can't stand Kim Kardashian? The list is pretty extensive.
Amber Portwood
One of Kim Kardashian's earliest feuds dates back to 2011 when she upset the young mothers from MTV's Teen Mom. According to E! News, Kardashian wrote a negative post on her blog about teen pregnancy rates, blaming Teen Mom for "making teen pregnancy seem cool in the eyes of young girls." Kardashian wrote, "The kids from these shows are all over the news ... but girls, these are not people you should idolize!"
One of the "kids from those shows" didn't let Kardashian talk down on them without consequence. "Last time I checked, Kim Kardashian had a sex tape floating around on the internet and I'm pretty sure she made a lot of money off of it," Teen Mom's Amber Portwood told E! News. "She made a sex tape when she was younger and she wants to bash the girls on Teen Mom?" Portwood does has a point...
Ironically, the issue of teen pregnancy hit close to home in 2017 when Kardashian's younger sister, Kylie Jenner, got pregnant at 19 (then gave birth at 20). Perhaps Kardashian learned from her moment of judgment with Portwood, because she seemed to be much more supportive of Jenner's choice. After Jenner gave birth, Kardashian wrote a letter celebrating the young mother, saying (via Harper's Bazaar), "I am so proud that you do what you want to do and live your life the way you want, you will pass down all of those amazing qualities to your baby girl."
Piers Morgan
In October 2016, Piers Morgan wrote an open letter to Kim Kardashian in the wake of her awful Paris robbery when five men tied her up and robbed her at gunpoint. Though he wrote that he initially liked her after interviewing her in 2011, his feelings toward her had been skewed. In the letter, Morgan wrote that something about Kardashian had "changed" since the moment he first met her. "You grew slowly coarser and snarkier, and started bombarding the world with regular naked selfies," he accused.
By January 2018, Morgan's tirade continued, claiming on Good Morning Britain (via Mirror) that "time should be up for Miss Kardashian" after she posted a topless photo on Instagram. Unsurprisingly, Morgan happened to later be one of the recipients of Kardashian's Valentine's Day gifts in February 2018 — the only male to make the list.
Kardashian's cheeky gift only fueled Morgan's criticisms. In September 2019, Morgan continued his hate when he mocked Kardashian's Emmys presentation with her sister, Kendall Jenner — you know, the one were the audience openly laughed at the two starlets. On Good Morning Britain (via The Sun), Morgan stated that in comparison to the "genuinely talented people" present, the sisters were "idiots." However, Morgan seems to have gained some respect for the starlet, since she became a prison reform advocate. In March 2020, Morgan tweeted a picture of Kardashian with women she helped free from prison, saying, "I prefer this new @KimKardashian."
Chloe Grace Moretz
Actress Chloë Grace Moretz got into it with the Kardashian family in March 2016 when Kim Kardashian broke the internet yet again with her fully nude mirror selfie post. Like most things Kardashian does, the photo created a blizzard of replies — including one from Moretz. "I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than our bodies," Moretz tweeted to Kardashian. Not one to let the shade go unnoticed, Kardashian responded, "Let's all welcome [Moretz] to Twitter, since no one knows who she is." Ouch.
A few months later, Moretz revisited the beef with Kardashian in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that she had "regrets" about giving Kardashian attention but not about what she actually said. "I realized that being the most opinionated and loud person in the room is not always the most impactful," she told the publication.
Moretz's tweet haunted her for years. For Valentine's Day in 2018, the KUWTK star sent her perfume as "gifts" to her A-list "haters" (via E! News). In July 2018, when asked by Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live what she did with her perfume, Moretz dished, "I didn't even get it, my publicist just took it," revealing that she never even personally saw it. Refinery 29 pressed the issue that same month. Moretz squashed the drama saying, "It's a dead story, in my opinion. I'm tired of being asked about it."
Sharon Osbourne
Kim Kardashian's revealing March 2016 selfie also gathered the attention of The Talk host Sharon Osbourne, who went so far as to recreate the photo herself in support of Kardashian, hashtagging the word "liberated." However, while Osbourne's photo is still up, she seemed to go back on her statement in 2017 when she berated Kardashian for her revealing photos. "Kim says she's doing everything in the name of feminism, but that's not feminism," she told The Telegraph. "Those girls live off their bodies, half of LA has been through them, and everything they do from the sex tape to the plastic see-through dresses and the gym wear is about sex, not female progress."
In response, Kardashian told E! News that she never posted the photo "in the name of feminism." Instead, she said she posts body-baring shots because, she said, "... I like how I look and I feel proud when I've lost all this baby weight and I post it because I feel like posting it and I feel powerful."
Bette Midler
Kim Kardashian's nude mirror selfie was so controversial that even the iconic Bette Midler weighed in on it. "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera," Midler joked on Twitter. At first, Kardashian commented back with a joke of her own, asking Midler to "send nudes" of her own even though it was "past [Midler's] bedtime," ending the tweet with "#justkidding" for good measure.
Just a few minutes later, however, she followed up with a slightly more sinister tweet. "Hey @BetteMidler I really didn't want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me," Kardashian wrote. But Midler didn't let it end there. "I never tried to fake friend you. Looks like anyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke," the actress and singer responded.
Pink
If you think three celebrities commenting on Kim Kardashian's single photo is a lot, just you wait — there's more. Singer Pink also took to Twitter to shade Kardashian's selfie, tweeting a photo of a note she wrote pertaining to women. "Shout out to all of the women, across the world, using their brains, their strength, their work ethic, their talent, their 'magic' that they were born with, that only they possess," she wrote. "It may not ever bring you as much 'attention' or bank notes as using your body, your sex ... but women like you don't need that kind of 'attention.'"
Soon after posting that tweet, Pink appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen where a fan asked if the tweet was in response to Kardashian's picture, and Pink revealed that yes, it was definitely in response to that. "Honestly, she went in on Bette Midler, and if you go in on Bette Midler, you're probably gonna hear from me," she replied.
Miley Cyrus
Kim Kardashian's March 2016 nude photo also didn't go over well with Miley Cyrus. Now, Cyrus has also posted her fair share of hotly contested photos, so you might think it's odd that she would pick a fight with Kardashian for doing something she's guilty of herself. But it wasn't the photo exactly, that upset Cyrus enough to prompt her to create her own Instagram post addressing the issue. Instead, it was about how the photo turned into such a huge thing among so many different celebrity women. So naturally, instead of ignoring it, Cyrus got in on it herself.
Taking to her Instagram (via Entertainment Tonight), Cyrus posted a Kimoji of Kardashian's famous booty (clearly to let everyone know who she was talking about without actually posting Kardashian's photo) along with a caption addressing the feud, calling those involved "tacky AF." Asking the women to celebrate each other instead, Cyrus wrote, "Why don't we overly (myself included) fortunate women come together and try to create and bring jobs to other women in desperate need of them so they can support not only THEMSELVES but their families."
Lindsay Lohan
It's not just nude selfies that get Kardashian in trouble with other stars. In 2018, Kardashian posted a series of photos of her wearing her hair in braids — a style traditionally attributed to African women. But instead of mentioning and crediting the 'do's traditional roots, Kardashian named actress Bo Derek (who wore similar braids in her film 10) in her caption. This, of course, catapulted a series of think pieces debating whether or not Kardashian was guilty of cultural appropriation, something she and her sisters have been subjected to more than once.
It also caught the eye of Lindsay Lohan, who commented on Perez Hilton's repost of Kardashian's photo. "I am confused," Lohan simply wrote. Clapback queen Kardashian was quick to respond. "You know what's confusing," Kim typed back. "Your sudden foreign accent," poking fun at Lohan's strange new accent (which Lohan says is due to all of the languages she's trying to learn).
In 2019, Lohan found out the hard way, while promoting her own reality show on Watch What Happens Live, that if you take a jab at Kardashian, you'll be asked about it for a while. Lohan cleared the air when she told Andy Cohen that she was "just confused about the braids because she just had a baby." She said there is no bad blood between the starlets (at least on her end). "I love Kim," she said. "[I'm] friends with all the family."
Taylor Swift
Kardashian's feud with Taylor Swift is extensive, so it's no wonder the pop star ended up on Kardashian's list of enemies. The details behind their beef are intricate, dating back to that infamous moment when Kardashian's husband Kanye West interrupted Swift during her 2009 VMA acceptance speech. Their relationship came to a head in 2016 when West dropped his song "Famous," in which he refers to Swift as "that b**ch."
According to Cosmopolitan, West wrote in a since-deleted tweet that Swift permitted him to include the lyrics in his song. In July 2016, Kardashian backed up her husband by posting a video clip of a call West made to Swift, in which she seemingly approved the lyrics. The public saw the video as a "checkmate" and quickly denounced Swift in a #KimExposedTaylorParty. Swift's publicist told ET, "Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, 'I made that b**ch famous.'"
Swift and Kardashian seemed to stay in their separate corners for years, until the alleged unedited video of the phone call was leaked in 2020 — making their feud messier. In it, West does not tell Swift about the infamous lyric. Swift responded on her Instagram story by saying she was "telling the truth." Kardashian retorted on Twitter, claiming, "At the time when they spoke the song had not been fully written yet," adding, "The lie was never about the word bi**h, It was always whether there was a call or not and the tone of the conversation."
Janice Dickinson
Most people would consider Kim Kardashian an entrepreneur, reality star, and model, among other things. Janice Dickinson is not one of those people. One of the original supermodels (or, according to her, the person who coined the term "supermodel" in the first place), Dickinson took issue with Kardashian and West's 2014 Vogue cover.
In 2006, Dickinson told the now-defunct Instinct Magazine, "I think I have a little bit of instinct on what it takes to be a model in today's age." Apparently, Kardashian and her family don't have it. In 2016, she told The Tomorrow Show that Kardashian's Vogue cover made her "want to vomit," insisting, "They're not models! They're reality TV stars."
But Dickinson didn't only attack Kardashian's merit as a model — she also criticized her as a person in general. "Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian? S****, w***** and s****. That's what they are," she allegedly told Star Magazine (via Radar Online). Of Kardashian specifically, Dickinson said, "She's a fraud, she's a hoax."
Naomi Campbell
Janice Dickinson isn't the only original supermodel who's taken issue with Kim Kardashian, particularly her appearance on magazine covers. Model Naomi Campbell appeared on The Morning Show in 2014, where she was also asked about her thoughts on Kanye West and Kardashian's Vogue cover. Campbell seemed very hesitant to give an honest answer, doing her best to skirt around the issue while still giving enough information to viewers for them to realize she was definitely throwing some shade. "I do not want to comment," Campbell said with a sly smile.
When asked why, Campbell explained, "I'm a fashion model, and I've been working for 28 years. When you get a Vogue cover, it's a build in your career. It's a stepping stone to achieve that," suggesting in so many words (or, as she put it, in a "politically correct" way) that she doesn't believe Kardashian earned her spot on that cover.
Campbell handled the situation pretty respectfully, yet blogs attempted to add fuel to the fire in April 2019, when they accused Kardashian of stealing Campbell's most notorious red carpet looks. Kardashian "set the record straight" with People, saying that in this case, imitation was the sincerest form of flattery. "Her and I have talked about it and laughed that it has become such a big deal." Considering the pair also created a short film with fellow icon Cher the following year in 2020 for CR Fashion Book, we're assuming their beef has definitely been squashed.
Anna Wintour
Not only did Anna Wintour elect to put Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the cover of Vogue, she also defended her decision to do so in that issue's editor's letter. "Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it," Wintour wrote (via Us Weekly). "I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T."
However, just two years later, Radar Online reported ahead of that year's infamous Met Gala that Wintour threatened to ban both Kardashian and West from attending. Why? For taking selfies, of course. A source told Radar that Wintour was not pleased with Kimye's selfie antics at the previous year's Met Gala. "Anna Wintour sent a very specific letter to Kim and Kanye letting them know that they are forbidden from taking any selfies on the red carpet at this year's Met Gala," the source revealed. "If Anna sees that either Kim or Kanye take any selfies this year, neither of them will be invited back to the Met Gala next year."
Apparently, Kardashian obeyed Wintour's wishes as she appeared on the 2017 Met Gala red carpet (though West wasn't by her side).
Beyonce
Considering Beyoncé and Kardashian often run in the same circles thanks to their Hollywood connections, similar entrepreneurial backgrounds, and rapper husbands who also happened to be good friends, you'd think they'd get along. As it turns out ... nope.
Rumors about a Kardashian-Beyoncé feud started in 2014 when Jay-Z and Beyoncé didn't show up to the Kardashian-West wedding. Theories about why they didn't attend included busy work schedules and the fact that Rachel Roy (who Jay-Z is rumored to have cheated on Beyoncé with) was going to be there.
But in October 2016, feud rumors heated up again after a source told The Mirror, "Beyoncé has never genuinely liked Kim." Um, ouch. "She's mostly tolerated her because of their husbands' friendship and mutual friends," the source revealed.
Another source went so far as to tell Hollywood Life that Beyoncé "doesn't respect" or "like" Kardashian. The insider said, "Beyoncé can't stand the whole reality TV thing, and she thinks Kim would do anything for fame." Harsh, Bey!
Wendy Williams
As a talk show host, it's Wendy Williams' duty to report on pop culture. Kim Kardashian happens to be one of popular culture's mainstays, so it's natural the two would cross paths. They did just that in the first couple months of 2018 when Williams made it clear that she's not exactly a fan of Kardashian. First, in January, Williams jumped aboard the ever-popular "call Kim Kardashian out for her selfies" bandwagon. On an episode of The Wendy Williams Show, Williams addressed the series of Instagram posts that showcased a scantily clad Kardashian on her bed. Williams surmised that the photos were an effect of West not paying attention to Kardashian and accused her of trying to remain relevant.
Just a few days later in February 2018, Williams came after Kardashian again when the reality star's youngest sister Kylie Jenner released her birth announcement video, during which Kardashian's third child, Chicago West, was revealed for the first time. "This is Kylie's moment to do Kylie's thing and then Kim just showed up with the baby," Williams said, calling Kardashian "selfish" for using the moment to showcase her daughter (via the Daily Mail).
Somewhere along the line, Kardashian and Williams were able to patch things up because, by June 2019, the two were hanging out. Williams posted a video with Kardashian on Instagram captioned, "Friendly with Wendy!" The "kumbaya" moment must've had Kris Jenner's approval because Williams posted a picture with her, too.
Fabio
In 2016, Fabio — yes, THAT Fabio, the one who's blessed the covers of many a romance novel — expressed his dislike for Kim Kardashian in a very succinct, clear way. "Kim Kardashian is trash," he told NY Daily News. Full stop.
Fabio, who had just become an American citizen, went on to explain that he felt the Kardashian family set a bad precedent for people, notably "the younger generation." "There are a lot of people out there ... who think that the only thing they have to do to become famous is make a [adult] video or be caught doing something nasty," he said, undoubtedly referencing Kardashian's infamous sex tape.
The model went on to reference how he was not a fan of the way the Kardashians have exploited the moments and people in their lives for television. "All the Kardashians care about is the media, money and being on camera," he said. "It shows they have no sensitivity and they don't know when to stop."
Barack Obama
Former President Barack Obama has also pointed out the ways in which Kim Kardashian's popularity has affected American culture. In an interview with David Blum (via Kardashian Dynasty), Obama discussed how people like Kardashian and West have transformed what the American people see as being successful since his childhood. "We weren't exposed to the things we didn't have in the same ways that kids these days are," Obama explained. "Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success."
However, that didn't stop West from claiming that he and Obama were so close that Obama calls the Kardashian-West house phone. However, Obama says that's not the case. "I love his music, I think he's incredibly creative... but I don't think I've got his home phone number," he joked to Jimmy Kimmel in 2015.
Jordyn Woods
Jordyn Woods might take the crown for the most public Kardashian feud to date. But it's not necessarily the title anyone would want the burden of carrying, especially as Kylie Jenner's ex-best friend.
It all started with a kiss. Days after Valentine's Day in 2019, TMZ broke the news that Woods was caught kissing Tristan Thompson — Khloe Kardashian's baby daddy, and then-boyfriend, at a party. People at the party spilled the beans that Woods and Thompson "were all over each other... making out," with the scandal ending Thompson's relationship. Woods swiftly learned that a fight against one Kardashian is a fight against them all. By May 2019, Woods officially moved out of Jenner's home, despite Woods claiming that she was "not the reason that Tristan and Khloe are not together," on Red Table Talk. Fans watched the drama unfold on Keeping Up with the Kardashians in June 2019, with Khloe saying of Woods, "I never in a million years thought that's who she was," (via W).
In the episode, Kim Kardashian doubled-down on the disrespectful nature of the situation, telling Jenner (via Complex), "Kylie, she [Jordyn] provides for her whole family off of what you have given her." That comment didn't sit well with internet critics, who accused Kim of being downright degrading. Woods stood up for herself when she told Entertainment Tonight, "I definitely work very hard for a lot of the things that I have, and as you can see, I'm out here hustling."
