Inside Adam Levine's Relationship History

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, who is married to Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo, made waves after multiple women claimed that the singer had sent them salacious messages on Instagram. It all began in September 2022, when model Sumner Stroh claimed on TikTok she had a year-long thing with Levine. The shocking reports came after Prinsloo announced that the couple was expecting their third child

Cheating scandals are, of course, nothing new in Hollywood, but this particular story spread like wildfire when Stroh shared that Levine asked her if he could name his and Prinsloo's third child "Sumner." Per TMZ, Levine stated in an apology that he did speak to other women, but maintained things never got physical. Still, People reported that Prinsloo is "100 percent committed to her family."

Is it all that surprising that Levine was exposed? After all, in a 2012 interview with Details (via Spin), the former "The Voice" coach stated, "There are two kinds of men. There are men who are f******* misogynist pigs and then there are men who really love women, who think they're the most amazing people in the world. And that's me. Maybe the reason I was promiscuous and wanted to sleep with a lot of them is that I love them so much." Indeed, Levine has been with a plethora of beautiful women before tying the knot in July 2014. We'll look at Levine's relationship history before he made things serious with Prinsloo.

Jane Herman inspired Maroon 5's first album

Have you ever wondered if Maroon 5's breakout debut album "Songs About Jane" was about a real woman named Jane? Adam Levine's relationship with Jane Herman was the inspiration behind the 2002 record. According to Us Weekly, Herman, an editor for Vogue, and Levine dated from 1997 to 2001, with Levine revealing to Rolling Stone (via Daily Mail), "I saw this girl at a gas station, and I fell in love with her. She was my muse for years ... And then it kind of faded away."

Per Page Six, the hit "She Will Be Loved" was about Herman, while the song "This Love" was about the former couple's breakup. Levine told MTV News in 2003, "I was in a relationship that was ending, but I was really excited on the other end because the band was about to make the record and I was ecstatic to go in the studio. She was literally leaving town within days of me writing the lyrics to 'This Love.'" The album sold a whopping 10 million copies worldwide.

Herman's Instagram account shows that she's now a mom of two and married to movie director Marc Webb.

Did Jessica Simpson have an affair with him?

Jessica Simpson has been happily married to former NFL player Eric Johnson since July 2014, and the couple shares three children. Before she met her match, Simpson married 98 Degrees member Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2005. The pair famously starred in the MTV reality show "Newlyweds," which documented the couple's life for three seasons. However, they would announce their separation in November 2005. Simpson and Lachey's divorce was finalized in June of 2006.

Rumor has it Levine might have played a role in Simpson and Lachey's divorce. According to Us Weekly, the Maroon 5 singer and Simpson supposedly had a short-lived romance in 2004, and, at the time, the songstress was married to Lachey. Simpson was spotted with Levine in January of that year after spending a night together at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles. As told by Elle, the rockstar was rumored to have ended things with Simpson via text message; however, E! News reported that he denied it.

Simpson did admit to having an emotional affair with Johnny Knoxville, her co-star in "The Dukes of Hazzard." Her memoir, "Open Book," reads (via Us Weekly), "We wrote these flowery love letters back and forth, often at night with Nick passed out in the bed next to me. It's like Johnny and I were prison pen pals, two people who wanted too much to be with each other but were kept apart — by bars, by our stars, by our respective spouses."

Adam Levine hit it off with Rebecca Ginos

In 2007, Maroon 5 was riding high after the release of their sophomore album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long," which produced the Grammy-winning track "Makes Me Wonder," as well as hits "Wake Up Call" and "Won't Go Home Without You." Around the same time, Adam Levine was not shying away from talking about his love life. During a June 2007 interview with Howard Stern, Levine brought along his then-girlfriend cocktail waitress Rebecca Ginos, whom he met on her 21st birthday and admitted (via Us Weekly), "We had sex the first night we met. I think [she's] the hottest girl in the entire f****** universe."

Levine and Ginos seemed to be the real deal. In December of that year, they were shopping together in Beverly Hills and, on a separate occasion, met with Levine's parents for dinner. The "Moves Like Jagger" singer continued to be open about his newfound relationship. He told Rolling Stone (via Daily Mail), "We were casual at first, and it turned into something amazing. She just wants to enjoy my company and love me. And I love her. It's really simple and beautiful. When you're younger relationships thrive on drama. And if there's no drama, you're bored and it ends. I'm not into that anymore. I know more about myself, which prepares you to figure out girls." Daily Mail reported that the duo broke up around 2009.

Adam Levine and Cameron Diaz's rumored fling

After his split with Rebecca Ginos, Adam Levine was rumored to have moved on with A-list actor Cameron Diaz. The Daily Mail shared photos of the pair dining together at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles in May 2009 — yes, the same luxury hotel where the rockstar was seen with pop star Jessica Simpson in 2004.

Glamour UK reported that Diaz had ended her nearly year-long relationship with British model Paul Scolfer the same month she was seen grabbing lunch with Levine. According to a source, the former couple couldn't make their schedules work, with Diaz not fond of the idea of moving to England to be with him. So, was Levine just a rebound? There isn't too much news surrounding the actor and Levine, but there didn't appear to be any bad blood when they were seen together again during Levine's hosting debut on "Saturday Night Live" in 2013. During his opening monologue, Diaz, comedian Andy Samberg, and Jerry Seinfeld joined the singer as they acted as mentors on Levine's "The Voice" reality singing competition show, which he coached for the first 16 seasons. For her part, Diaz urged Levine to take off his shirt, and he did so towards the end of the sketch.

Diaz has since married Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden in 2015 and welcomed a daughter named Raddix in December 2019, per People

Things with Angela Bellotte fizzled after a few months

Adam Levine had a new lady on his arm in September 2009. According to Us Weekly, Levine was spotted with model Angela Bellotte in New York City, and on another occasion, the two were seen jetting off to Los Angeles. However, it was a short romance that lasted for less than a year. According to her modeling profile, the singer might have missed the mark on one of three things Bellotte looks for in a guy which include, "Must make me laugh. Must make me think. Must make me breakfast."

Not being able to commit to one woman, Levine was labeled a playboy (among other harsh words) in the tabloids. In 2009 he revealed to Cosmopolitan that he wasn't the most faithful in his relationships. "Instinctively, monogamy is not in our genetic makeup. People cheat. I have cheated. And you know what? There is nothing worse than the feeling of doing it," Levine said. Of course, he would change his mind about marriage after meeting Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo, but not before first dating another well-known Victoria's Secret star.

He dated Anne Vyalitsyna for two years

Who needs a dating app when you've got a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue event invite? According to Us Weekly, Adam Levine and model Anne Vyalitsyna met at an event hosted by the magazine in 2010 and dated for about two years. The Russian-born model was Levine's muse in two of Maroon 5's music videos for the songs "Misery" and "Never Gonna Leave This Bed." In the February 2011 issue of Cosmopolitan UK (via CBS News), Vyalitsyna literally lent a hand when Levine posed nude for the mag as she covered his private parts. Later that year, Levine showed loads of love for her as she walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show as the band performed "Moves Like Jagger."

Evidently, Levine wasn't rushing to buy a ring. He told Elle in November of 2011, "There are many things that keep me from getting married. But there will be a time when marriage makes sense to me ... The most important thing about marriage is understanding that it might not be the right time, regardless of what your friends are doing. Peer pressure is a motherf*****."

In April 2012, Vyalitsyna told People that she and Levine had broken up. According to Us Weekly, Levine was left surprised over the split but should have seen it coming as a source shared he wasn't ready for marriage. "Adam's heartbroken. He wasn't even fully sure they were really broken up," a source told the magazine. However, Levine wasn't left brokenhearted for too long.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo tied the knot in 2014

"It was such a natural correspondence that we kind of fell in love over email," Behati Prinsloo said of Adam Levine in Net-a-Porter. The two connected after a mutual friend suggested Levine reach out to Prinsloo about a music video. According to People, two months after splitting with Anne Vyalitsyna, the singer and Prinsloo were officially an item after they were spotted holding hands in New York City in July 2012. Although the couple briefly split in May 2013, they quickly reconnected. Prinsloo told Net-a-Porter, "We broke up for two months, realized that it was the worst decision, then got back together, got engaged, and got married. It was a wild ride!"

Levine and Prinsloo tied the knot in Mexico in July 2014. That September, Levine shared with Ellen DeGeneres (via Us Weekly), "I never really thought I would adore [marriage]. It's so trippy. I'm a child. I use that word [wife] right now a lot." In September 2016, the star-studded couple welcomed their first child, Dusty Rose, and in February 2018, they welcomed their second daughter, Gio Grace. Prinsloo has gushed about her husband, too. The model shared a provocative Instagram post celebrating Levine's 40th birthday in March 2019. She wrote, "40 is just a number, but it looks damn good on you. I wake up every morning more in love with you..."

In September 2022, the couple announced they were expanding their family, with Prinsloo expecting the couple's third child amid Levine's cheating scandal.

He hooked up with Nina Agdal

Before Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo got back together in July 2013, the Maroon 5 lead singer rebounded and reportedly dated Sports Illustrated model Nina Agdal that same month. According to People, a source shared that Levine and Agdal were taking things slow, adding, "They're just getting to know each other. Unlike [Levine's exes] Behati and Anne [Vyalitsyna], where he was serious with them, this just seems to be a new, casual thing."

Levine and Agdal's romance was brief, with the rockstar and Prinsloo getting back together that July and announcing their engagement. According to Newsweek, the "Animals" singer informed Agdal about the engagement via text message.

Agdal confirmed that she dated Levine during his short-lived split with the Victoria's Secret model when she shared with Ocean Drive magazine that her relationship with the singer didn't teach her anything about love. "I am 21 years old, and I don't think anyone who is 21 knows what love is about yet," she said (via Newsweek). However, Agdal did admit she was content with the two getting back together, "I think love just happens. It happened to them, and I'm happy for them," she said.
