The Reason Why Jedediah Bila Left The View

For over 25 years, ABC's "The View" has become an instantly recognizable piece of media across the globe for its colorful, though often controversial, commentary on American politics from a female-centric perspective. The show continually tops daytime TV ratings and has even been called "The Most Important Political TV Show" in America.

However, as many viewers of "The View" know, the cast is far from consistent, as the show has seen nearly 20 co-hosts come and go since first premiering in 1997. One host who has arguably flown under the radar since her initial appearance in 2016 is Jedediah Bila, who served as one of the panel's token conservatives for less than two seasons before departing in 2017. Some fans might wonder why Bila left the program after such a short stint and if any behind-the-scenes drama led to her departure. Here's what we know about Bila's exit from "The View."

There were big changes Jedediah Bila's private life

In a September 2017 episode of "The View," co-host Jedediah Bila surprised viewers by announcing that she would depart from the show. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity at the time, per E! News, and thanked her fellow co-hosts, saying, "I want to thank these ladies. What you don't know about us is that we're really friends ... I want to thank you because I'm a little eccentric, and you put up with me, and this has been an amazing journey." As for her reason for leaving the show, the host explained that she was working on a new book, along with a few additional opportunities.

In addition, Bila had big news regarding her personal life. In June 2017, she announced on an episode of "The View" that she was engaged and walked down the aisle a few months later. She went on to give birth to her only child — a son — in November 2019.

There was rampant speculation that ABC had ousted Bida from "The View" for grilling Hillary Clinton, who appeared on the show in 2017 to promote her book "What Happened." Representatives for "The View" have denied that this was the case, but Bila revealed on an episode of the "Jim and Sam Show" that she "didn't leave voluntarily."

Jedediah Bila found success after The View

Jedediah Bila continued to have a successful professional life following her departure from "The View." According to Deadline, after leaving ABC, the television personality returned to Fox News — where she had previously worked as a contributor — in November 2018. During her stint on the network, Bila became a co-host of "Fox & Friends Weekend" but left the cable news giant in May 2021.

After leaving Fox News, Bila appeared on an episode of the "Behind the Table" podcast alongside former "The View" co-host Sunny Hostin, in which she fondly recalled her time on the show. "They were very surprised that I didn't trash the show," she said of the media's response to her departure, "because my experience was actually really good." She added of her former co-hosts that "there was not one fight that we had off-set. There was not one close to argument. There was zero."

Bila hasn't slowed down and recently started a podcast, "Jedediah Bila LIVE," which she has described as "your new favorite free speech zone."
