A Look At Chrishell Stause's Relationship With G Flip (And Why It Works)

This feature references homophobia.

You may know her as the ultimate boss babe on Netflix's "Selling Sunset," but there's more to Chrishell Stause than selling houses in designer clothes and spikey Louboutins. Though her luxurious lifestyle is showcased in the series, it's a starkly different reality from her childhood. She might be known for selling million-dollar mansions to Los Angeles's elite, but there was a time when the real estate agent didn't have a house of her own. She grew up in a Kentucky family that struggled to make ends meet, and homelessness and poverty characterized her early years. But Stause has risen the ranks despite the challenges life has presented her. The once small-town Kentucky girl paved her way as a soap opera star, starring on "Days of our Lives" and "All My Children" for years before she made her way to the Oppenheim Group.

As with any celebrity — not to mention a reality television star — Stause's personal life has been buzzworthy. The actor was previously engaged to "Glee" star Matthew Morrison in her twenties. Years later, she went on to meet and marry "This Is Us"  star, Justin Hartley. However, the two broke parted ways in 2019 in a shocking divorce that left Stause blindsided. Since then, of course, Stause has found love with the non-binary Australian artist G Flip, whose real name is Georgia Flipo. And we've got the complete scoop on their adorable relationship (and why it works).

They met after Chrishell's breakup from Jason Oppenheim

During Season 5 of "Selling Sunset," Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim, her Oppenheim Group boss, revealed that they had become romantically involved. The pair started dating in the summer of 2021 after being friends and co-workers for years. However, their romance was short-lived, ending nearly six months after they first went public.

Incidentally, G Flip and Stause first met on Halloween 2021, when the two were still with their former partners, and the "Selling Sunset" star was the musician's realtor. Fast forward a few months, and the two had struck up a fast friendship. Speaking to Vogue, Stause recalled the moment that she realized there was more to their relationship, during a real-estate showing she held for the Australian artist. "It was the same feeling you would have when somebody you have a crush on gets a little too close into your space and you get a little ... flustered," she admitted. At the time, Stause had only ever been in serious heterosexual relationships with men. "For me, that bodily reaction where I was like, 'Oh, hold on a second, that's familiar,' that was a turning point," she added.

At a later point, she had invited G Flip to a party at her house, where Stause found herself stood up by a date. It gave the pals an opportunity to explore their burgeoning romantic feelings and they wound up enjoying their first kiss. The reality star added, "But I definitely still thought I was straight at that party!"

Chrishell Stause doesn't feel pressure to have kids

It's no secret that becoming a mother is an important goal for Chrishell Stause. The "Selling Sunset" star has been open about her desire to have children, revealing that it was one of the reasons she split from her ex, Jason Oppenheim. She announced the news in a since-deleted Instagram post, writing, "Jason was and is my best friend, and other than our ideas for family ultimately not being aligned, the amount of respect and love we have for each other will not change going forward. Men have the luxury of time that women don't and that's just the way it goes."

When fans started to question Stause's relationship with her non-binary partner, she shut down the trolls, posting a meme to her Instagram featuring her co-star Maya Vander staring blankly with the caption, "Me realizing how many people didn't know you can adopt children on your own." The former soap star got candid on the Season 5 reunion episode where she outlined how she's more than open to considering alternative methods for becoming a mom, including adoption. "I am hoping to have a family but I've also taken some of the pressure off myself as far as what that looks like," she said.

As for G Flip, they told the "People Every Day" podcast that they were on the same page as Stause in hoping to start a family one day.  They added, "Two people who have the same sex organs can still have children."

G Flip writes sentimental songs about their girlfriend

There are not many people that would object to having a partner that writes sweet love songs about them. Chrishell Stause got an adorable surprise from her partner when they revealed the song "I'll Be Your Man" that they wrote for her. On the pair's one-year anniversary, G Flip posted a video to their Instagram, showing them playing a recording of the track to the "Selling Sunset" star for the first time. The song details their unexpected relationship, with lyrics like, "'I understand, cause I get you emotionally, that I'm not a man but I can if you want me to be."

The "Days of our Lives" star was in tears after hearing the track, commenting on the video, "Yet to recover," alongside a crying-face emoji and a vibrating heart. Fans took to the comments to share the love, with one user writing, "Queers everywhere are crying, so sweet, such a perfect pair." Another fan jokingly commented, "Anyone know CPR??"

G Flip even took it a step further, posting an Instagram video of them playing the track to Stause's dog Grace, writing, "Wanted to test if my little buddy liked my song." The "Selling Sunset" realtor's co-star and best friend Emma Hernan also chimed in to give her stamp of approval on G Flip's acoustic version of the track, commenting, "You're so god damn talented! You are a rare edition of a human!"

Chrishell Stause is G Flip's biggest fan

Chrishell Stause is ride or die for her rocker partner G Flip. So much so, that the "Selling Sunset" star even dressed in disguise to attend the singer's concert in Australia in January 2023. Stause posted a clip of her outfit to her Instagram, showing the real estate agent in a Patagonia cap, black zip-up jacket, and a face mask with which to discreetly enjoy her boo's show.

The "Selling Sunset" star hasn't just been rooting for G Flip from the front row. In 2022, Stause wrote a series of since-deleted posts on Twitter accusing the People's Choice Awards of not allowing her to bring G Flip as her plus-one — she was nominated for Best Reality Star but lost to Khloe Kardashian. "I am on the sauce a bit so I will prob regret this later," Stause tweeted. "But People's Choice didn't allow me to bring my partner to the awards. I could only bring a plus [one] if it was a cast member." Stause further added that all her co-stars were allowed to bring plus-ones, and she had been fighting for days to get G Flip invited.

The next day, she returned to Twitter to add that the powers that be at the People's Choice Awards had cleared the air with her, writing, "An internal conversation was had that I very much appreciate."

They don't let online trolls get them down

Chrishell Stause and G Flip have had to battle some serious online hate after going public with their romance in 2022. While so many people support the pair, there's no shortage of people that condemn it. Many have sadly taken to the comments section of her Instagram to express their distaste, with one user writing, "It won't last! Just a phase she's going through." Another commented, "Now she's with a girl who can't give her kids? Confused."

When Stause hit her limit on followers asking her when she was planning on starting a family now that she was no longer in a heterosexual union, she responded via since-deleted posts to her Instagram Stories. "I understand being on 'Selling Sunset' entitles people to questions [and] my life in a way. But I am tired of this," she wrote. "I fell in love with a person. It's not that scandalous. Love is a beautiful thing." She went on to reiterate that she can't be in a relationship with someone who doesn't want to have a child or adopt.

Speaking to Vogue, the couple divulged how they'd experienced a shocking volume of hate online since going public with their romance. "Every day I'm seeing like three positive comments and then hundreds of puke emojis and midlife crisis comments," Stause shared. When G Flip suggested they could have kept their relationship under wraps, the "Selling Sunset" star wisely proclaimed, "Then they win. They quiet you and take your voice."

There's no hard feelings with Chrishell Stause's ex

Inquiring minds wanted to know what exactly went down when Chrishell Stause brought G Flip as her date to the 2022 MTV Movie Awards, where the former soap star took home the award for Best Reality Star. The couple joined the cast of "Selling Sunset" at the event where they mingled with Stause's ex Jason Oppenheim. He told ET that there were no hard feelings with his ex and that he was excited to meet G Flip for the first time. Indeed, following the ceremony, Stause went on to admit to ET, "They are thick as thieves already." She added, "It's so funny. They are talking sports and I'm like, 'I'm out. I don't know. I'm like, 'If y'all want to talk about some lip gloss, let me know.'"

She went on to express her gratitude for her castmates, whom she feels welcomed her and her partner with open arms after learning the news.  "It's just one of those things that, normally, you can't compute that that would work out and be so supportive and so much love, but we are all really mature and we all really, truly love each other. I love my cast and I wouldn't be here without them, so I'm very happy. I'm very grateful," she said.

G Flip has all the qualities Chrishell Stause is looking for

Given her past history of dating heterosexual men, Chrishell Stause wasn't expecting G Flip to come into her life. But the "Selling Sunset" star has welcomed the breath of fresh air that her new partner has given her. Despite their 13-year-age gap, the two find their connection growing stronger and stronger.

On G Flip's 28th birthday, Stause took to her Instagram to share her love for the musician. She stated that the star's blend of masculine and feminine traits — being as strong and secure as they are attentive and sensitive — made them a wonderful person. And clearly, someone that Stause is besotted with. "Even though I could list a million things I love about you, your kind genuine heart is my absolute favorite," she wrote. "I feel extremely lucky to be able to celebrate you constantly but especially today.."

Fans took to the comments section of the post to offer their love — and hate — about the pairing. Despite the naysayers, one user wrote, "You know, initially, I thought — wow what a strange relationship — but I see those pictures where you look genuinely happy, and I think to myself, 'Who cares what gender it is you are with.'" Hate it or love it, Stause and G Flip could not really give a "flip," either way!

Chrishell Stause gave G Flip a tattoo

Nothing says true love like permanent ink. In May 2022, G Flip shared a photo to Instagram of Chrishell Stause giving them a tattoo that reads "Get Me Outta Here." The words are a reference to the track that features Stause as a music video vixen, and which quite notably features the two getting pretty steamy with each other. In reference to their partner's real estate career, the Australian artist jokingly added the caption, "F*k houses, do ink." Stause also had a laugh at herself, quipping in a since-deleted comment, "Found my new calling. Might open up a new shop."

As noted by Paper, one of G Flip's trademarks are her quirky tattoos — all of which tell a story. One of their favorites is their old school motto, "Deeds not words" — something they got inked after losing a bet at their high school union. However, Stause is no stranger to quirky tattoos either. In 2016, she told Soap Central that she once got what she called a "kamikaze tattoo" done with a friend, on a dare.  "I blindfolded myself and picked one off the wall," she proclaimed.

Chrishell Stause visited G Flip's home

Chrishell Stause was all smiles in her social media posts when she took a trip to the Outback. In 2022, the "All My Children" star spent the holidays together in Melbourne with the singer, with Stause sharing a flurry of loved-up festive snaps from their time together — Christmas koalas and everything. They even got festive with Stause's dog Gracie who made the trip with the pair.

Having rang in the new year together, the two enjoyed even more Australian adventures together at the beginning of 2023. The real estate agent got creative at a statue park that doubled as a winery, mimicking the giant sculptures with her own set of poses. Stause also shared an Instagram post from her time visiting the wildlife at Rottnest Island. She posted a photo of herself alongside her photogenic furry friend, the Quokka. "Rottnest Island is the only home of the Quokka and truly the most magical place. The most beautiful beaches with the softest sand, Italian restaurant that was to die for, and the sweetest little Quokkas that melted my heart," she wrote, adding that it had been a bucket list experience for her.

They know how to have fun

Maybe the secret to a solid relationship is finding someone to laugh with. Chrishell Stause and her Australian rocker partner seem to have found that if their hilarious social media posts are any inclination. The "Selling Sunset" star posted a series of photos on her Instagram during Halloween 2022 where she and G Flip swapped identities for the night. In the collage, Stause is seen wearing the baggy jeans and leather jacket look from the "Get Me Outta Here" music video while G Flip trades their style for their partner's tight black dress and heels.

Other shots feature the real estate agent goofing off at the studio, donning fake tattoos to complete the look. G Flip was shot inside and outside the Oppenheim Group office and pictured ringing the infamous "Selling Sunset" bell. In a bright pink sleeveless dress, they posed for a photo with Stause on the couch where the ladies of the Netflix series usually meet for business meetings.

As ever, the two were met with derisive comments from followers. But not everyone was so hateful. As one Instagram user urged others, "Let [Chrishell] love who she wants and be with who she wants ... The connection with the person is far more important!" Indeed, and as G Flip had previously told Refinery 29, their joy together far outweighs any negative noise. "As long as we're happy, all the craziness around us doesn't matter," they said. "As long as we're smiling and having a great time, everything's all good."

Chrishell Stause got candid about her sexuality

After going public with G Flip in May 2022, Chrishell Stause got candid about her sexuality on Instagram. The actor posted a video where she opened up about her sexual identity saying, "Some of you won't understand this or agree with this, but for me, it is about the person," she admitted. "It is about their heart. And yes, there's that part of you that's like, what you're attracted to. But for me, I am attracted to masculine energy and I don't really care what the physical form is." She also referenced gender identity in her caption writing, "For those that are open to learning (you're awesome) sex is anatomical and gender is how someone identifies. These two things are often confused."

It wasn't the last time Stause would address her relationship with a non-binary partner. After winning the award for Best Reality Star at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2022, she thanked her fans for supporting her and voting for her after she went public with G Flip. "I'm not trying to get really deep with you guys, but the fact that this was voted on after [announcing my relationship], means so much to me because I wasn't sure how that was gonna go."

Chrishell Stause and G Flip are emotionally mature

G Flip had nothing but kind words for their partner Chrishell Stause, who despite their different paths in lives, have found common ground. "I think we have a very good emotional maturity," G Flip told People. "I feel like that's really important to have in order for a pair to connect. And I think we have our own paths. And then we meet, our love is met in the middle."

In January 2023, Stause revealed on Instagram that she'd wrapped filming on Season 6 of "Selling Sunset," and Season 7 was already underway. Meanwhile, G Flip is releasing new music and continues to tour worldwide. "I'm so proud of her ... and her real estate career and how she takes being on a reality TV show because it's hectic," G Flip told People. Despite their busy schedules, the couple continues to share a deep bond, with the musician celebrating their partner's sweet and upbeat nature.

Thankfully for fans of the couple, the Australian artist hasn't ruled out making appearances on their partner's hit Netflix show — particularly because of how important such representation can be for the LGBTQ+ community. "Chrishell is a huge superstar for her to just love me unconditionally and not have any hesitations because of other people's judgment," they added.
