The Truth About Chanel West Coast's Citizen's Arrest

Chanel West Coast (real name Chelsea Chanel Dudley) is a relatively well-known celeb. For viewers of MTV's Ridiculousness and Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, she's practically a household name. However, if you're not a fan of the once-music-video-now-reality-TV channel, chances are her name won't ring a bell.

Of course, West Coast has tried to make a name for herself outside of her MTV fame. Her biggest side hustle? Rapping. According to Billboard, the starlet was once even signed to Lil Wayne's Young Money label, but, ultimately, that deal didn't pan out. Long before becoming a television personality, West Coast dreamed of being a rapper. "The first thing that crossed my head was, 'Is this going to ruin my chances of being taken seriously as an artist?'" West Coast mused to LA Weeklyexplaining her initial thoughts on joining Rob Dyrdek's now-infamous show.

At the end of the day, the MTV regular is craving some "respect"  — even from the network that gave her some alleged star power. "I've been on MTV for so many years. They're so stupid and, like, disrespectful and rude," West Coast complained to LA Weekly. Another group of people who were allegedly "disrespectful and rude" to the celeb? The police officers responsible for hauling the rap mogul away back in 2015. Let's get to the truth about Chanel West Coast's citizen's arrest.

Chanel West Coast played the celebrity card to avoid arrest

Chanel West Coast had her own share of ridiculousness back in 2015 when she was arrested outside of 1 OAK nightclub in West Hollywood. TMZ first broke the news, posting a video that showed an intoxicated West Coast getting handcuffed after "punching and kicking a cop." As the gossip rag noted, it turned out that one of the arresting officers was going to let her go — until she got physical.

Apparently, what initially triggered the commotion was West Coast getting into a fight with a woman inside the club (spoiler alert: she didn't press charges). According to E! Newsafter West Coast was kicked out of the club, she got into it with security which lead to someone making a citizen's arrest. The budding rapper was initially held down "on suspicion of misdemeanor battery." The TV personality stayed put until L.A. County Sheriff's deputies arrived on scene. West Coast denied getting into any sort of altercation, posting tweets where she blamed the police. "I was violently held by 2 huge men cops last night for nothing and have bruises all over my arms."

Although the situation was clearly sour for all parties involved, it at least gave us West Coast's hilarious "do-you-know-who-I-am" moment. The reality TV star shouted, "I've been on TV for 17 seasons," to which one of the cops immediately quipped, "Congratulations!" We have a feeling that wasn't the "respect" this starlet so desperately craves.
