'Game Of Thrones' Star Tests Positive For Coronavirus

As confirmed coronavirus cases across the globe continue to rise, a handful of celebrities have revealed their own positive diagnoses. Actors Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks announced they have the virus on March 11, 2020, while Luther star Idris Elba confirmed his case via Twitter on March 16, 2020. NBA star Rudy Gobert has also tested positive. As for the latest famous name to reveal they have the illness? Game of Thrones alum Kristofer Hivju, who played Tormund Giantsbane on the hit HBO series for six years. Hivju, who hails from Norway, shared the news on Instagram alongside a picture of himself with his wife, Gry Molvær Hivju.

Hivju's diagnosis comes on the heels of other unfortunate news concerning the coronavirus outbreak, including various cancellations (the NBA suspended its 2020 season and The Bachelorette Season 16 is postponed indefinitely, to name a few examples), while some celebrities were caught trying to sell fake coronavirus cures. Although this is a trying time, the Game of Thrones star is doing all he can to remain positive amid his battle with COVID-19.

Kristofer Hivju is hanging in there

Kristofer Hivju seems to be taking his COVID-19 diagnosis in stride, albeit seriously. "My family and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health – I only have mild symptoms of a cold," he revealed on Instagram. "Tormund Giantsbane" then advised the public to be considerate of others who will battle more than a common cold, writing, "There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1.5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading. Together we can fight this virus and avert a crisis at our hospitals." He concluded, "Please take care of each other, keep your distance, and stay healthy! Please visit your country's Center for Disease Control's website, and follow the regulations for staying safe and protecting not just yourselves, but our entire community, and especially those at risk like the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions."

Hivju has shared some sound advice, unlike these celebs who are giving the worst advice about the coronavirus.
