Supermodels With Jarring Plastic Surgery Transformations
The modeling industry — and the world of high fashion at large — has long been synonymous with the pursuit of physical perfection. While image is an important aspect of the entertainment industry, it's everything for the men and women who choose to make their living on the catwalk. During Cycle 6 of "America's Next Top Model," Tyra Banks famously told gap-toothed contestant Dani Evans, "Do you really think you can have a Covergirl contract with a gap in your mouth? ... It's not marketable" (via YouTube). And while the show's effort to essentially strong-arm her into getting corrective surgery was controversial, it offered an unfiltered glimpse into the demands the fashion industry places on models.
For those who reach the echelon of supermodels, that pressure doesn't disappear simply because they've made it. For some, it may even intensify as the drive to maintain a youthful look and industry relevance creeps in, pushing them to resort to plastic surgery and other forms of cosmetic enhancement to achieve their desired look. Sometimes, the results are subtle — other times, the metamorphosis is downright jarring for fans and fashionistas. And, occasionally, they're even catastrophic (see Linda Evangelista).
With that in mind, here are nine women whose rumored or confirmed plastic surgery transformations are noteworthy for their dramatic nature.
1. Bella Hadid
Bella Hadid was already well-acquainted with the world of high fashion and supermodels long before she became a runway star herself. Her mother, Yolanda Hadid, first achieved fame with Ford Models before becoming a reality television star via "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" in the 2010s. Meanwhile, her older sister, Gigi Hadid, joined the fray before she did (their younger brother, Anwar Hadid is also a model). It didn't take Bella long to ascend the ranks; she made her New York Fashion Week debut mere days after signing with IMG as a 17-year-old in 2014.
Now, in the 2020s, her place among the elites of fashion — and social media influencers — has long since been cemented. However, fans and observers can't help but notice that she has undergone a significant physical transformation amid the meteoric rise. For her part, Bella has been open and honest about having undergone cosmetic procedures to achieve her signature look. In 2022, she told Vogue that she got a nose job at the tender age of 14; a decision she has come to regret.
"I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors," she told the outlet. "I think I would have grown into it." However, she pushed back on some of the other rumors floating around regarding plastic surgery. Nevertheless, the difference between her look now and her earlier days in the industry is jarring.
2. Janice Dickinson
Younger millennials and Gen-Z types may know Janice Dickinson best as a judge from the early seasons of "America's Next Top Model" — which enjoyed a resurgence in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic — or for her own late-2000s reality show, "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency." However, she was a bona fide runway superstar during the 1970s and '80s and has branded herself the first-ever supermodel.
Fast-forward to now, though, and the difference between her current look and the one that comes to mind from her heyday of appearing on multiple iconic Vogue covers and working with legendary fashion houses such as Oscar de la Renta, Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein, and others, is vast. Some would even say that she's unrecognizable. And while aging definitely played a role in the evolution of her appearance, Dickinson has copped to going under the knife in an attempt to preserve her appearance.
"I was dating Sylvester Stallone and I was 32, and I noticed I started getting the jowls," she said of her first foray into plastic surgery during a 2024 appearance on "Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe." Over the years, Dickinson has been the subject of near-ceaseless speculation about potential surgeries. However, she told Bristowe that she has no regrets about anything that she may have done.
3. Linda Evangelista
If there's a quote that sums up the lives of the most iconic supermodels ever to emerge from the fashion industry, it may just be this: "We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day." That line is attributed to Canadian supermodel Linda Evangelista, who was quoted as saying it in a 1990 Vogue feature (in reference to the fees charged by herself and fellow supermodel Christy Turlington). If that number is true, Evangelista made a pretty penny during her modeling career, as she reportedly appeared on more than 700 magazine covers during the 1980s and '90s.
However, her life after going into semi-retirement in 1998 has been markedly different than it was during the height of her career and so has her physical appearance. Evangelista's facial features and body have changed considerably since the days when she was dominating the modeling scene. Some of that is simply the result of time and age; however, a significant and well-documented part of the transformation stems from a veritable plastic surgery controversy.
After undergoing several sessions of CoolSculpting — a popular fat-freezing procedure — during 2015 and '16, Evangelista noticed hardening bulges in the chin, bra, and thigh areas. She was ultimately diagnosed with paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, or PAH, resulting from the fat-freezing. "I loved being up on the catwalk. Now I dread running into someone I know," she told People in 2022. More recently, she has worked to embrace her body as it is and regain her confidence, telling Harper's Bazaar in 2025, "There were a lot of surgeries. I'm cool. I'm fine with those. I won. I'm here. I won."
4. Adriana Lima
Some of the biggest names in modeling and high fashion today attained their lofty status, in part, through their work with Victoria's Secret. That includes Brazilian model Adriana Lima, who was one of Victoria's Secret's "angels" for nearly two decades, from 2000 to 2018. Her 2008 Super Bowl commercial for the lingerie brand continues to live in the annals of Super Bowl ad history, and she also appeared in memorable commercials for Kia Motors.
In 2025, Models.com rated Lima as an "Industry Icon," and while she has managed to hang onto her catwalk cachet over the years — even after quitting Victoria's Secret – her face looks jarringly different now than it did when she first broke out in the 2000s. She has offered no confirmation of having undergone cosmetic enhancement, but that hasn't stopped fans and observers from speculating on the reasons behind her transformation. "Definitely had her nose done, and cheek implants," opined one X user, while another wrote that they would "ask for a refund."
As reported by Fox News, Lima addressed the ongoing commentary about her seemingly altered mug in a 2023 Instagram story that read, "The face of a tired mom of one teenage girl, two pre-teens, one active boy, a 1 year old learning to walk, and three dogs ... thanks for your concern."
5. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Like Adriana Lima, British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley rose to runway prominence via her work as one of Victoria's Secret's angels. She debuted for the brand in 2006 and, while she wasn't world-famous out of the gate, she became an angel a few years later. Her breakout moment arguably came when she began working with Burberry in 2008. She also did some acting with roles in Michael Bay's "Transformers" franchise and George Miller's "Mad Max: Fury Road" and had a long-term relationship with Jason Statham.
As with any industry where image and beauty rule, Huntington-Whiteley experienced increased scrutiny of her body and overall look as her star soared higher. She hasn't spoken publicly about having undergone plastic surgery, but that hasn't stopped the masses from marking the changes in her appearance. In 2026, she did an on-stage interview at the Vogue Forces of Fashion event in Sydney, Australia, and her appearance sparked major discussion online, as reported by the Daily Mail.
For his part, Dr. Anil Rajani — who specializes in aesthetic medicine — mentioned filler and biostimulators in an Instagram reel discussing chatter about Huntington-Whiteley's face but stopped short of making any clear declarations about what she may have done surgically.
6. Heidi Klum
Another supermodel who may be best-known to younger audiences as a reality television star (thanks to her longtime role as a judge on "America's Got Talent"), German-American model Heidi Klum is another Victoria's Secret alum who graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition in 1998. However, she racked up hundreds of magazine covers, including Vogue, GQ, and Cosmopolitan, over the course of her career
Between her extensive modeling and television work and appearances in films such as "Ella Enchanted" and "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers," Klum is one of the better-documented models of all time. As such, her changing looks over the years are easy to track, and some find the metamorphosis of her face jarring. For her part, aesthetic expert/content creator Sarah Louise opined in a YouTube short that "her nose is something I cannot take my eyes off," adding, "Girl, that has been surgically intervened with." The short also referenced an "elongated" jaw and lip alterations.
In a 2025 interview with People, Klum spoke out in favor of cosmetic enhancement, saying, "I'm all for Botox," and adding, "Whoever wants to talk about [plastic surgery] and wants to share, give me all the numbers."
7. Caprice Bourret
For years, Caprice Bourret has been in the rarefied air of people who are known mononymously, such as Madonna, Beyoncé, or fellow supermodel Iman. She earned that single-name distinction by appearing on more than 250 magazine covers, including the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Vogue, FHM, and many others. Apparently, she had the diva mentality to match her lofty status as a '90s runway star, too. "At the time my ego was ginormous," she said during a 2020 appearance on "White Wine Question Time" (via Yahoo! News). "I believed my own hype!" Caprice later starred on the reality series "Ladies of London."
Alas, as we have moved further away from the height of her modeling career, fans, fashionistas, and members of the media have wondered what changes may have been made to her famous face. Per the Daily Mirror, Caprice once considered such speculation a "compliment" to her beauty, even as she denied having cosmetic surgery. More recently, though, she has expressed regret at having dabbled in facial fillers.
"I have tried filler, but it doesn't look natural on me so I stopped," she told the Daily Star in 2022. "The one time I tried filler my eyes blew up like a blowfish and I looked terrible. I don't want to look like plastic fantastic or a pufferfish."
8. Tyra Banks
Perhaps no model has achieved crossover success on par with that of Tyra Banks, whose "America's Next Top Model" franchise arguably helped save the UPN network during the mid-2000s (before it merged with the WB to create The CW) and eventually became a pop culture phenomenon. However, she was already a global superstar before becoming the creator of a reality TV sensation. During the 1990s, Banks became the first Black woman to appear on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. She was also a Victoria's Secret angel for the better part of a decade.
Amid her meteoric rise in the catwalk world, Banks challenged the established beauty norms of the fashion industry. However, as her time as a runway regular drew to a close, her groundbreaking look began to shift in a way that eventually became jarring for longtime fans and observers. Before-and-after pics show just how much Banks has changed, but others, including medical professionals, are commenting on the evolution, too.
For his part, plastic surgeon Dr. David Pincus told the Daily Mail in 2025 that he believes that makeup is doing much of the work in altering her appearance. "She's always been known for bold, creative makeup looks that dramatically enhance or shift her appearance," he told the outlet. Others disagree, however. "Tyra Banks was one of my first crushes as a kid. She was absolutely beyond gorgeous to me," one X user wrote. "Now with all the surgery she looks like she's in that middle stage of turning into a vampiress. When the face becomes all distorted and muscular."
9. Chrissy Teigen
In the 2010s, Chrissy Teigen became well-known for marrying and having kids with recording star John Legend as well as working on television series such as "FABLife," "Lip Sync Battle," and "Chrissy's Court." However, she rose to prominence on the runway as a star model. Teigen famously graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition multiple times, including for its 60th anniversary issue in 2024. She also worked for fashion houses such as Victoria's Secret and Ed Hardy in addition to serving as one of the briefcase girls on "Deal or No Deal."
While she no longer sports the same fresh face that made her a veritable star due to age, some believe that forces beyond the passage of time are responsible for giving her the look she has today. "Chrissy's face is where every celeb's buccal fat removal went to die," commented one Redditor in a thread discussing her transformation. Meanwhile, another commenter opined that "she's been overfilled for years and somehow seems to keep going." For her part, Teigen has copped to having a handful of cosmetic procedures done.
In 2021, she shouted out the doctor who did her buccal fat removal, declaring in a social media clip (via The Cosmetic Lane/X), "Since I quit drinking, I'm really seeing the results — and I like it." She also admitted to having a hairline-lowering procedure and an eyebrow transplant.
