The Real Reason Miley Cyrus Hates Kim Kardashian
No one knows how to make waves quite like Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian. How many photoshopping scandals have there been in her Instagram history? What about those accusations of cultural appropriation, including everything from her fashion choices to her business decisions. Remember when she initially named her shapewear brand "Kimono"? After widespread criticism and a public letter from the mayor of Kyoto, she changed the moniker to "Skims," as she announced in an August 2019 tweet.
The mom-of-four has gotten so much flack that she coined the phrase, "Can I live?" Yet despite her plea, people keep hating on Kim. In fact, so many people do that there are lists of celebrities who can't stand Kim Kardashian. Although there are many people to choose from, today we're exploring why Miley Cyrus reportedly hates the super famous reality star.
Honestly, it's a bit of a complicated situation because while Miley shaded Kim at one point, she also gave her a gushing compliment. Keep reading for the juicy deets.
Miley Cyrus didn't appreciate Kim Kardashian's drama
Fans might remember when in March 2016, Kim Kardashian posted a nude selfie. For some reason, this particular pic attracted the attention of many other celebrities, including Chloe Grace Moretz and Bette Midler, who criticized the sexy post. Kim fired back at both women, calling Midler a "fake friend" and pitying Mortez because "no one knows who she is."
Miley Cyrus took to Instagram on International Women's Day to seemingly call out Kim and the other celebs who got involved, writing alongside a Kimoji of Kim's famous backside, "Dear women, you ALL are acting tacky AF! Why don't we overly (myself included) fortunate women come together and try to create and bring jobs to other women in desperate need of them so they can support not only THEMSELVES but their families," per ET Online. "Can we all put the c**tiness aside for one f**king day and love / celebrate one another!" She added, "Much love to all my women!!!!"
To be fair, Cyrus seemed to be calling out the situation rather than Kardashian specifically.
It wasn't the only time Cyrus publicly discussed Kardashian and her body. In August 2015, Cyrus hosted the VMAs, and Kardashian, who was pregnant at the time, was sitting in the audience when the Wrecking Ball singer asked, "Have you guys seen those nipples? I'm so jealous of the baby in there." She then proceeded to make sucking sounds, according to Cosmopolitan. So, yeah. That happened.
Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian were neighbors
Social media drama aside, it appears that Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian have a lot in common. A perfect example of this is when in 2015, Cyrus purchased a home on the same Hidden Hills, Calif., street Kardashian and Kayne West had bought a house, Us Weekly reported. Cyrus' ritzy pad boasted a barn, equestrian area, and vineyard, the outlet noted. However, the coincidence was short-lived, as the singer moved out of the neighborhood in 2018, Variety reported.
But it's not just similar taste in real estate that links Cyrus and Kardashian. Elite Daily once compared the two for their twinning looks, pointing out their similar Instagram photos in 2018. Fans also noted the similarities, with one Twitter user writing, "Kim k and Miley really out for blood lately #killinit."
Of course, people also couldn't help pitting the two women against each other. Someone tweeted, "Miley Cyrus >>> Kim K." And another Twitter user wrote, "Miley Cyrus's photos she posted are 800xs better than kim k'ks bye."
As it turns out, fashion and real estate aren't the only links between the two.
Miley Cyrus dated someone from Kim Kardashian's world
Just when you thought the celebrity dating pool couldn't get any smaller, Miley Cyrus dated Kaitlynn Carter, who was married to The Hills star Brody Jenner. (Brody is the son of Caitlyn Jenner, Kim Kardashian's former stepdad.) Carter and Brody married in 2018 in Indonesia, although it later surfaced that their nuptials were not legally binding, as TMZ reported when the two split in August 2019.
Nevertheless, when Cyrus broke up with her husband, Liam Hemsworth, both she and Carter embarked on a passionate summer romance in 2019, complete with PDA-filled pictures from their Italian vacation, Harper's Bazaar noted. They were later seen at the 2019 MTV VMAs, holding hands and having a blast at the after-party. However, by September 2019, the duo split up, People reported.
Although Carter isn't a Kardashian, she's certainly close to the clan. Talk about an interesting connection!
