Yes, Costner may have only tied the knot twice, but he's also had several other serious relationships, brief flings, and one-night stands over the years. So who was the very first lady, that we know of, anyway, to capture his heart? Which conquest does he allegedly have in common with adulterous golfer Tiger Woods? And which hair metal favorite insists that the only action that happened in his bedroom was a literal fire? Here's a look at a dozen women said to have been a part of the Hollywood star's dating history.

Kevin Costner first walked down the aisle in 1978 with Cindy Silva, whom he'd first met while attending California State University, Fullerton three years earlier. The pair coped well with the major life change as Costner climbed up the Hollywood ladder.

In 1989, for example, Costner was still gushing about the mother of his three kids. "She was beautiful," he recalled to People about their first date. "She was sweet. She was smarter than me ... she represented everything about women that I like. I was just really proud that this girl would go out with me. I wanted to show my parents." And Silva was by his side when his labor of love,  "Dances with Wolves," won seven Academy Awards two years later.

However, amid rumors that Costner's career had eventually started to take its toll on their marriage, not to mention a rumored affair while filming blockbuster "Waterworld," the college sweethearts called it a day in 1994. Speaking about their divorce (Silva received an expensive payout) to The Hollywood Reporter in 2012, the actor admitted it hit him hard. "My faith was shaken. No one wants their marriage to end, and it did. You are going to see the people you love most, your children, only half as much. That's a huge loss." Here's a closer look at the real reason behind their divorce.

Angie Everhart was the first celebrity Kevin Costner was linked to following his divorce from Cindy Silva. In fact, the "Open Range" star was apparently still trying to win back his ex-wife when he briefly diverted his attention to the model.

Legend has it that after spotting her in a magazine, Costner flew Everhart out on a private jet filled with roses to a swanky dinner that cost a cool $15,000. But this grand romantic gesture didn't seem to work. According to a press insider, she left as soon as she'd finished her meal to hang out with her pals and never saw the Hollywood star again.

But while appearing on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", Everhart insisted that the night in question had been wildly blown out of proportion and that there hadn't been any extravagant wooing beforehand. "I met him in a restaurant in California," she remarked. "And I walked out, they took pictures of me and 'Hard Copy' put me on, saying that I was the next Mrs. Costner, and it's just a total, blatant lie."

Two years after his costly split from first wife Cindy Silva, Kevin Costner became a fourth-time father after a brief, highly secretive relationship with Bridget Rooney, the niece of then-Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney. Not that he was exactly jumping for joy. According to reports, he initially refused to accept he was the father.

Speaking to New York Magazine before giving birth, Bridget insisted that she had zero doubts. "I'm 110% sure who the father is," she said. "I'm just enjoying my pregnancy." Costner, however, remained unconvinced and demanded a paternity test once the baby, named Liam, arrived.

When the result confirmed he was the father, Costner created a trust fund for the tot and apparently maintained an occasional relationship as he grew up. Unlike the Hollywood star's three kids from his first marriage, Annie, Lily, and Joe, all of whom have followed in his showbiz footsteps, Liam has preferred to keep away from the limelight.

"Good Morning America" co-host Joan Lunden made headlines in 1996 when she began dating one of Hollywood's most bankable stars. And Kevin Costner certainly pulled out all of the stops during their brief time together.

Indeed, in a candid interview with TV Guide, Lunden revealed (via Orlando Sentinel) that the "Mr. Brooks" star certainly wasn't afraid to splash the cash or show public displays of affection. "He got this yacht and we sailed around New York Harbor and had dinner," she recalled one particularly fancy date. "It was quite romantic and quite beautiful. When he first walked on the boat and smiled at me as only he can smile and said, 'Boy, I've waited so long to meet you,' I almost fell over."

However, all good things must come to an end, and amid the pressures of the tabloid whirlwind, the pair went their separate ways. "All the press made me very self-protective in subsequent dating," Lunden said about the experience. However, rumors suggested the anchorwoman had ditched Costner for a younger man.

"I went a little crazy when we first split," Kevin Costner later acknowledged to Mirror about his divorce from Cindy Silva. "I was on the rebound and enjoying being a bachelor again." He wasn't wrong. The "Wyatt Earp" star went on to date a string of wild women, including Bobbie Brown, the former Miss Louisiana Teen USA famed for her memorable appearance in the promo for Warrant's "Cherry Pie."

According to the woman herself, though, things only got heated between the pair literally. "After another wild night at the club, I went back to Kevin Costner's place and was so lit I threw a lit cigarette into his bedroom and nearly set his house on fire," Brown wrote (via Adelaide Now) in a tell-all memoir, "Dirty Rocker Boys," which also dished the dirt on encounters with Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark McGrath, and Dave Navarro. "But we never had sex."

Brown talked about that night during an interview with The Giving Arts, revealing there were roughly 200 women at his house party (and comedian David Spade). "... I remember Kevin continually saying to me, 'You can set your purse down, Bobbie. You don't have to keep carrying it around, Bobbie,'" until I just threw my purse up in the air for no reason and everything inside of it went all over the room. Kevin just sort of backed away. He probably thought, 'This girl is f***ing crazy.'"

Bobbie Brown wasn't the only wild girl that the oft-shady Kevin Costner encountered during his womanizing phase. But on this occasion, the dalliance definitely did turn sexual. In 2009, one of the women who got caught up in Tiger Woods' sex scandal, porn star Holly Sampson, decided to reveal all.

In a video for the Naughty America website, Sampson gave shout-outs to both Woods and Costner for their skills in bed. "I have to say he was really good," she remarked (via Us Weekly) about the former. "He and Kevin ... I've got juice ... I think it's pretty amazing. He [Woods] is like the whitest black boy you've ever met. His teeth are perfect, and he's the perfect gentleman."

It's not known exactly when Costner and Sampson's paths crossed, and the former has never verified nor denied the latter's claims. But this wasn't the first time that the Hollywood star had been linked to the porn world. In 1981, he made his screen debut playing a young stable owner in the softcore flick "Sizzle Beach, U.S.A."

Kevin Costner has been linked to other celebrities over the years. He reportedly dated Courteney Cox, Halle Berry. Cheryl Tiegs, Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

However, the only unspoken relationship that's been regularly reported as fact is with a woman whose love life also makes for interesting reading. Indeed, Carla Bruni, the singer-songwriter and, thanks to her marriage to Nicolas Sarkozy, the one-time First Lady of France, has reportedly dated everyone from guitar god Eric Clapton and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger to the future President of the United States, Donald Trump!

British Vogue, The Guardian, and The Independent are reputable publications that reported that Costner and Bruni were definitely an item.

Socialite and single mother campaigner Birgit Cunningham graced the front pages in 2011 after selling a story to the press in which she admitted to an affair with the House of Lords' very married Conservative leader, Thomas Strathclyde.

While working for Universal Pictures in the 1990s, Cunningham began seeing Kevin Costner. And she opened up about the nature of their relationship while discussing her two-year spell with aristocrat Harry Nuttall. "We started sleeping together because we were really good friends, and I was certainly led to believe that he wasn't sleeping with anyone else," she told The Standard. "But I didn't see him very often, and so although that was the understanding, I kept it really open with him. When I was dating Kevin Costner, it was the same scenario, so I'm used to that kind of thing."

Cunningham and Costner obviously ended things amicably, though. In fact, the former disclosed after splitting with Nuttall, who she was later convicted of kneeing in the groin during one of many heated dispute then headed to Los Angeles to seek comfort from the "Field of Dreams" star.

"I have a special lady in my life and I am looking to settle down again." It's fair to say that Kevin Costner quickly fell head over heels for supermodel Elle Macpherson, judging by the interview he gave to Page Six (via The Sun) in the mid-90s.

Indeed, the "Draft Day" star couldn't stop gushing about the Aussie, adding, "I have met a lot of wonderful ladies since I became single, but today I have reached a very happy phase in my life. I feel I have met my equal with this beautiful, talented, funny, and lovely person. Her name is Elle." It's perhaps little surprise that, according to reports, anyway, the pair ended up moving in together. However, this appeared to be the kiss of death for their relationship. They split soon after.

In an interview with the Irish Independent several years later, Macpherson seemed hesitant to confirm she was ever with Costner. When asked about her romance with the Oscar winner, she replied, "Well ... I had a six-month period when I was single. In that six-month period, there were quite a few people that I was linked to, because I was seen in the presence of [them]. But no, I am one of those girls who have been in long monogamous relationships. I function best like that. That's what I like."

Kevin Costner didn't appear to waste much time getting back in the saddle, so to speak, after splitting with Elle Macpherson. In 1997, he began dating Tawny Little, the TV newswoman who previously stepped out with Sylvester Stallone.

Things reportedly got so serious between the pair that Costner arranged for Little — who was crowned Miss America in the mid-1970s — to meet his three children Annie, Lily, and Joe, on a family day out at Universal Studios. It's not known exactly how long the pair stayed together. But according to a mutual pal, they first connected at an eatery in Los Angeles before enjoying an official first date watching the legendary diva Patti LaBelle perform at the Hollywood Bowl.

We also know what food Little, who was previously wed to John Schneider of "The Dukes of Hazzard" fame, prepared for the occasion. "She fried chicken and packed a picnic for them," the insider told the Scottish Daily Record. "She even got a strawberry pie from that same little restaurant."

Kevin Costner met his second wife, handbag designer Christien Baumgartner, shortly after divorcing his first while filming the 1996 golfing comedy "Tin Cup." But they didn't get together until several years later, when the Hollywood favorite had got all his womanizing tendencies out of his system.

The pair tied the knot at Costner's Colorado ranch in 2004 and went on to have three children together. And despite a few bumps in the road, they looked set to last the distance until Baumgartner filed for divorce in 2023. "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action," the actor's spokesperson said in a statement (via People).

Costner and Baumgartner had various financial disputes, with the former demanding payment of legal fees and the latter insisting on $248,000 per month in child support. She was also accused of violating their pre-nup and preparing for the split months beforehand by outright buying, rather than leasing, a new car and taking out credit card advances. Christine Baumgartner wasn't the only one to move on quickly. In 2025, Kevin Costner began dating Kelly Noonan Gores, a filmmaker who was recently divorced.

"It was excruciating," the latter admitted (via Mirror) on her "Heal with Kelly" podcast about her split from billionaire Alec Gores eight years after they tied the knot. "Even though I initiated the conversation, neither of us wanted this, and it was extremely heartbreaking." Perhaps unsurprisingly, neither party was interested in marriage, with insiders confirming they were both looking for something casual.
